Ay sis, masaya siya!
I finished basic dressmaking earlier this year, from sleeveless, collarless shirt to collared, sleeved shirts --baby collar, mandarin collar, sailor collar, etc. -- then onto various skirts w/ pockets - A-line, pleated, etc.
Then I took up the advanced tailoring class this summer (shorts, w/ and w/o various pockets, then pants.)
Di na kami naka abot sa polo shirts and barong dahil wala nang time nung summer, pero it was really educational for me. I was able to make everything we studied except for yung gown requirement.
We learned how to use industrial sewing machine (Brothers yung nasa classroom, 1:1 ratio yun) and industrial serger (1 for all the class to use). Nakakatakot sa umpisa dahil the sewing machine is so fast, para kang first-time driver na ipinasok sa Lamborghini (hehe) pero sanayan lang.
The secret is consistency and diligence kasi. Nung basic pa lang kami, puno yung class, but nag-drop out mga 3-4 people, and since class size is restricted to 15 people para nga lahat may makina, yung mga nawala, sayang lang yung slot nila, andami pa naman gustong mag-sign up pero puno na.
Atsaka kung di ka sigurado or unclear yung pagkakaintindi mo, don't hesitate to ask.
Si Ma'am Bering kasi, all-around siya. She worked in factories and piece-meal, kaya madalas yung mga turo niya, 'cheat' na di mo mapi-pick-up sa mga libro, only though first-hand (and repeated) observation. TAKE GOOD NOTES para di ka mawala, don't trust your memory alone.

Kaya kami di naka-abot sa polo shirt and barang, nahirapan kami sa pag-gawa ng pants-pattern. Basta yung "1/8 of seat", hayyyy para kaming engot, oo lang kami ng oo sa "Nainitindihan niyo?" tapos wala pang 10 minutes...""Ma'am, pano ba ulit yun?" Hahahahah.
