San ka ba mangagaling? about the course at TESDA, self-paced naman sya. You will be given a module then it's up to you kung matututo ka agad. It's not the typical classroom learning na sabay sabay kayo. coz eventhough the course is 4.5 months kung mabilis ka naman gumawa and matuto, you can finish it in 3months like I did.  That time my classmates started May16, ako June 7 na ako nagstart, but I was able to finish it by September, pero October nako nakapag file ng Exit coz after my course I decided to make some own projects there para maguide ako ni Ma'am Len and so I could learn more kasi hindi naman lahat nasa module. about the initial pattern making test, it's super easy as long as marunong ka gumamit ng ruler and you have common sense. Sometimes you can ask the students there if you have questions. Si ma'am Len, mukha lang masungit yun pero super bait yun. Just make sure during the interview you should show her na talagang ito ang gusto mo and don't show her doubts sa pag take mo ng dressmaking or tell her it's your 2nd choice or that if you're going back to college, kasi sigurado ibabagsak ka nya sa interview. meron dun applicant, i was there during the interview. She was really very enthusiastic sa pag take ng dressmaking and she said she makes dresses for her barbie dolls when she was a kid. But then she also told her that she wants to take the course coz wala pa syang budget pang aral sa college but by the next year magkakaron na daw sya ng pang enroll sa college. Ma'am Len failed her. When I asked her why, she said "ginagawa lang past time ang dressmaking! pag bumalik sya sa college mababale wala lang yung natutunan nya dito sa dressmaking if hindi nya din gagamitin para sa kabuhayan. Mas madaming applicants na mas kailangan etong dressmaking kesa sa kanya." So tip lang, gusto kasi ni Ma'am Len, [textspeak!] pag kuha nyo ng dressmaking ay makakatulong ng husto sa inyo kahit ba for starting a business or kahit personal use, hindi yung magdedressmaking lang kasi walang magawa. then after the course bale wala lahat. After din kasi ng course, ang TESDA din ang tutulong sa inyo makahanap ng trabaho sa garments.

Just 2 weeks ago Tesda called me and asked if i was interested to work in a garments factory in ortigas but then I already started my business here in Cavite just this May nung lumipat kami dito. Patahian din. So far, puro repair and may nagpapagawa din ng mga dress. It's really a good business, plus I get to make matching dresses for me and my 2-year-old daughter. hehe. Laki din natipid ko sa mga uniform ng 2 boys ko  sa school. can you imagine one polo is 280 sa school nila, I bought  4 meters of tetoron for the same price P280 din nagastos ko but I was able to make 4 polos out of it.  then sa pants din nila.  My husband's cousin who is in high school na gave me 7 of his old school pants from the same school, he's quite tall so I just repaired the pants. pinutulan ko lang and baston [textspeak!] para sa son ko in grade 4 yung 4 pairs. then yung 3pairs of pants I was able to make 6 more shorts for my 2nd son who's in junior kinder and my husband's nephew who's senior kinder. tag 3 pairs sila since half day lang naman sila and lahat sila 5th day is PE so they'd be wearing jogging pants. madaming advantage talaga na marunong ka magtahi.

I just called this morning and open na for enrollment sila (Nov start ng classes).  My friend and I are planning to enroll kasi we used to have an online dress shop. eh dahil nawala yung mananahi namin, nawala na rin business namin. So kaya dapat talagang matuto kaming manahi.

jaemee_w64, Thanks for sharing re: your experiences with TESDA.  Gusto ko talaga ng TESDA kaya lang ang layo pati the schedule is really heavy eh.

Do they have specific requirements?

Apply ka sis para marami tayo! Mag-apply kami ng friend ko on Monday.  Brgy clearance lang ang kailangan from any QC brgy halls.  To get brgy clearance, kuha ka lang ng sedula sa pinakamalapit na brgy. hall sa inyo.  Swerte kami kasi sobrang lapit lang ng brgy hall sa bahay namin.

Yung fee for the entire course is 400 lang, from November - February.

^ sis noong tumawag ako sa SB negotech at sinabi ko na taga makati ako, ok lang naman daw basta may kakilala ako taga QC na tutulong sakin kumuha ng Baranggay Clearance, isa kasi sa requirement nila.. pero noong nalaman ko na meron dressmaking sa TESDA, mas malapit sakin, dun na ako, kinocomplete ko nalang requirements ko sa TESDA para makakuha na ako ng sched..

Hi sis florencejoy, ok lang if you're renting in QC. Yung friend ko taga-Bulacan pero kumuha na lang sya ng sedula / brgy. clearance dito sa may amin (I live in QC).  Pinaayos ko na lang sa helper namin yung papers nya kasi kapit-bahay lang namin yung brgy. hall.  Di naman hinanap ID ng friend ko or what.

Sis iampennylane, nag-enrol kami kahapon ng friend ko. Enroll ka na rin! Para marami tayo. 50 lang daw ang slots so try to enroll early para di maubusan ng slots.

Pero mga sis, yung SB negotech, sa may bandang Brgy Tatalon sya ha. Katabi nya yung Dona Josefa school. Sobrang sikip ng daan (isang lane lang) chaka medyo di kaaya-aya yung paligid (magkakatabi yung bahay - parang squatter pero hindi naman ganun kagulo). If you're familiar with tatalon, alam nyo na itsura nun. hehe.  pero pag pasok mo sa dun, ok naman, school sya. accommodating yung receptionist and we were instructed ano yung mga kailangan gawin (e.g. when is the orientation, etc.)  May uniform pala sila, hehe. Pink t-shirt lang naman.  First day daw, hands-on na agad.

Uy andami na pala natin!! Nag enroll ako dun nung Sept 3 at may orientation sa end of the Sept. Kita kita tayo dun ha! Sa November - February ang start at marami pang iba't ibang courses na pwede ring applyan..
