^ regarding the foam: Hmmm, I've tried that with our old Singer and it seemed fine. I think it has something to do with the foot and the needle too, not only the machine.

pagbibili kayo ng makina, IMHO, mas maganda yung bakal yung parts halos, kasi yung singer namin na luma-di ko naalalang nasira.  yung kahoy at yung goma nasisira.  pero yung makina hindi pa.

yung electric namin-ok naman- madami klase ng stictches kaso palageng sira.  at saka tumatalon yung stitch.   

mas gusto ko pa din yung bakal nga kasi controlled yung stitches.  iba kasi yung bigat , parang nakalapat sa tela.

Hi. I once again made my daughter's graduation dress. Which do you prefer, last year's or this year? Last year's was easier, whereas this year's, although simpler looking, was a b*tch to sew. So much pagtatastas went on, especially sa sleeves, to which I even had to handsew the lining on just to get its right puff and fold.

i'm new to sewing -- as in very new.  I attempted my first enviro-sack a few weeks ago and it turned out well.  except medyo makapal ang material (kaya bulky din when folded).  anyone know where to get rip-stop nylon?

^Ano ang ginamit mo sa ecosax? Canvas? Or nylon? Do you know kung saan merong mejo makapal na canvas na colored?

I can't remember the name of the material eh, but it felt water-resistant though thicker than regular nylon.  It had a glittery pattern on it.  Okay for bags, but maybe not the foldable kind because it's a bit too thick to fold.  Bought it sa sidewalks of Ylaya.  I used Geena as to reinforce the handles (half-lining).

May mga canvas along Ylaya.  I didn't wait long enough for the real stores to open but from their signs, looks like they have.

I ordered a Janome Mini Sewing Machine online and expected arrival is on  Monday. But Im gonna return it agad, stupd of me for not reading the reviews kasi. I saw a really nice Singer starter sewing machine in Walmart and ill just get that one, good reviews and more stitches. Im into making beddings. Ive bought fabrics na for my "spring-quilt" project. Yung new sewing machine nalang ang hinihintay ko. Ive learned how to sew through my grandma, I was around 7 palang nun and marunong na akong magthread. Dysfunctional na yung sewing machine nya pero nakadisplay parin sa old house namin.

i want to learn sewing... kahit TESDA lang, i tried searching online through their site pero wala dito sa Laguna...  meron naman siguro yun, hindi lang siguro updated.

naalala ko tuloy when i was making dress for my barbie, i was grade 6 at that time and i'm really enjoying it, tinigil ko lang kasi nahihiya na ako. malaki na kasi ako tapos naglalaro pa din...  dati kasi may biniling makina lola ko pero de kuryente, pindot lang ng pindot...  so kaya ko sya gamitin at my young age. even the speed and kind of stitch can be done on that sewing machine.

and one thing, i don't like spending too much for my clothes (also knowing there is someone wearing same design as yours...) i finished commerce major in marketing, so medyo may background na ako sa marketing...

gusto ko sana magkaron ng sideline eh... san pa ba pwede???

^Hi Marish! Pareho tayo, sa Barbie dress din ako natuto. My mom, who is so mabusisi, was particularly impressed with a polo and bridal dress I made for my doll. I also want to attend classes pero I can't enroll right now. Things at the office are unpredictable and sayang naman if di ko matapos. If may malaman ka naman sa Laguna na classes, let me know.

@sis sunshine: dati sa munisipyo ng Calamba meron, kasabay nun yung curse for hair cutting, yung pang parlor... ganun... and programming for boys. TESDA lang din. pero that was when i was still in college mga 4-5 yrs ago na... eh ngayon yung munisipyo na yun school na... i don't know kung meron dun sa bagong munisipyo... haaayyy... hindi na kasi pinapansin masyado dressmaking ngayon uso nga yung mga parlor courses and baking... taga laguna ka din ba???

may nakita akong isang thread dito "fashion design" they mentioned Fashion Institute of the Philippines, i seems like its really a reputable school for fashion and you can choose a schedule, better for working girl like you (me too)... I'm actually considering this as an option pero pagiipunan ko pa and depende pa din sa availability ng schedule ko...

bakit ba kasi hindi mananahi nanay ko??? eh di sana nagpaturo na ako...

i bough a yoyo maker on ebay and started making yo-yo's or suffolk puffs to make a blanket for my little girl.. i bought 1 yard or cotton fabric of different prints pero of complementing colors naman.

marunong akong gumamit ng sewing machine and we have a singer machine at my parents house pero di ko matutunan ang paglagay ng sinulid or tama dlang ako mag-aral..
mas gusto ko na handsewn para i can take it anywhere.. kung ma traffic man ako or waiting at the doctors office i can make yoyo's to pass the time

dito sa may bandang san cristobal malapit sa jollibee banlic may maliit na training class dito. iba iba yung tinuturo nila dressmaking,cellphone repair etc...  nagbibigay kasi sila ng mga leaflets eh sa pagkakatanda ko ang nakasulat eh every weekends ang klase mga less than 1k lang bayad.
hindi ko lang alam kung magaling sila.

my lola sew as a hobby. she'd make her  own dress, me and my sisters clothes nung sisters pa kami and my barbies and stuff toys gowns, pati din pala curtains and bedsheets. she has passed on na though.

ngayon, i'm interested in relearning how to sue. i had this class in highschool. we had to make a top and skirt. i wasn't very good at it pero baka ngayon, when i try it, mas kaya ko na hehe. check out youtube for tutorials.
