sa court room yun Anna or sa office ng judge or mayor, mas cheap at mas mabilis, more or less 20 minutes lang ang ceremonies..

Planning for a SIMPLE but meaningful CIVIL WEDDING
« Reply #143 on: February 07, 2010, 05:00:06 pm »
Hi! Mga sis, I want to ask few things about planning for a simple but meaningful and nice civil wedding.. I hope you can help me on this pls... =)

I will tell something our scenario first. We are in the process of migrating to Canada and we only have a month to prepare and submit all our original documents, which must include a Marriage cert if we plan to. We originally plan about getting married in 2 years, maybe in Canada or will be back here and wed here.. But plans changed when  our agent told us that they prefer us being married, as it will have a better chance of getting a visa. And another reason is that, we realized it's better to be married when we get there than living together as common-laws. The problem as stated is that we only have a month to prepare all the documents (that may include the marriage cert)

Questions:
1. Is it possible?
2. My father is a Judge, can he officiate our wedding? My parents want a church wedding, and so do i... but we have no choice. i'm sure he will understand.
3. We are both catholics.Do you know a pastor or reverend who would want to officiate a wedding in a hotel, garden, restaurant? if yes, do we have to talk to them in the churchh?
4. After obtaining the marriage license, where will be give it to if/when we have decided to just do it at the municipal hall?

thank you sooo much!
we

He's a judge. I don't want to tell him so soon kasi gusto nila ng church... [textspeak!] pag puwede, sabihin ko days before the date..

sis, i'm not an expert on this ha. pero tingin ko kung super duper okay na yung requirements nyo (birth cert, and cenomar), kaya ang 1 month for a civil wedding or even a christian wedding. yung pinsan ko kasi less than a month pa nga, christian wedding yung sa kanila. basta mag-apply na kayo agad for marriage license kasi medyo matagal makuha yun at need pa umattend ng seminar.

pero for a catholic wedding, mukhang mahirap kasi mas madami pa kayong kaylangang documents. and they no longer allow weddings outside the church.

if ayaw nyo ng civil, your best bet is a pastor or any religious officer na licensed mag-officiate ng weddings. after nyo ikasal, sila na ang bahalang mag-process ng marriage contract. we got ours 1 week after our church wedding so more or less ganun din pag non-catholic wedding. basta kulitin nyo lang yung nagkasal sa inyo na asikasuhin agad.

hth!

Sis shinta, thanks.. i really appreciate your effort of answering my Qs. you're so nice =)

well, since wala na [textspeak!] kami time and nangungulit na agent namin (2 weeks nalang mag expire na [textspeak!] binigay saming time to secure the docs), we have decided na sa mayor nalang then we will schedule a post-wedding reception.. so ngaun iisipin ko nlng muna saan ako makakahanap ng magandang private function room na may foods na para dun dederetso after the wedding. thanks ha =)

why do you prefer it not done in the church, if you don't mind?

kahit for a church wedding pwede - because hindi naman required na madaming a-attend ng church wedding, basta groom + bride + 2 witnesses + priest, valid na. may 3 weeks wedding banns pero as long as you already have the requirements and may available na slot sa church, pwede na. :)

the only problem is, baka nga hindi ka makakita ng magkakasal sayo sa labas ng simbahan - ang alam ko jan, it depends kung papayagan kayo ng parokya, which in most cases, hindi.

we had our civil wedding sa reception na mismo, it was super budgeted.. only 50 guests, immediate family, close relatives and close friends lang yung invited.

We held it sa Tramway in Timog, naisip [textspeak!] namen na it's cheaper to think na it's buffet for 199 [textspeak!], we had one function room reserved, then bought flowers in dangwa para sa centerpiece ng table.=) then we invited our friends for for booze during our wedding night.=)

May cake, bouquet, ring bearer(our son), first dance at kung [textspeak!]-anong ek-ek. Parang church wedding din, we just left out the priest and the mass since non-practicing Catholics by choice ang magkabilaang family. Hope everything works out for everyone's wedding...

Or kung talagang ayaw nya, eh as in polo shirt na lang. oh well..

my hubby wore a long sleeved polo during our civil wedding. he just rolled the sleeves to his elbows kase mainit.

^^memorable and presentable sis diba? most of the time kase, how you dress up for an event or place says something about how relevant it is for you.
