I want to help my parents patch up their marriage... we found out that my dad has a 2nd secret family and we are all devastated. As children we want to save our family. Will this help us? I'm really desperate. For my siblings sake...

I was able to experience this. It can help a lot but if one is not open, tendency is the person will be selective or will only filter the words/ advices that he/she wants to hear.

True, both spouses must be open and must be willing to admit that both of them have shortcomings. If a spouse can't see his part to the problem, why would he need to adjust?

Yeah, there are some who would only choose what is beneficial to them and what would put them on the 'right' side of things. Some spouses think sila yung palaging tama, partner nila palaging mali.

Try Ateneo Center for Family Ministry (CEFAM). Donation lang sa kanila.

We  started first with ourself. Individual retreat  sya. through brahma kumaris inner peace. After that less na kami nagaaway so no need na for marriage counselling. What more naging mas ok ang relationship namin with relatives and other people.

oh ganun? did you make an appointment earlier? during my sessions with them, counselor talaga kausap ko, she really helps me process my issues.

I've heard Randy Dellosa is good too. Though haven't tried his services yet.

For me it was talking and talking and crying and talking. Iyon lang maalala ko. Nakakatulong sila to keep me sane, so you can talk to someone. But at the end of the day, it is your will and sticking to your decision (to be with him throughout or not with him), ikaw lang makakatulong sa sarili mo.

They can listen, they can comment. If it's a decision with your hubby, then kayong Dalawa gagawa ng action, at most. And no decision is a decision of accepting the current set up.

Siyempre more on pagpapatawad at pagbibigay ng second chance kame.

Kahit saan or sino pa mag counselling sayo ikaw pa din naman gagawa at masusunod in the end.

I went to CEFAM for counselling, bitin ang couselling. One hour lang kasi per session, I have to go back for the second session.

Same tayo sis Anne2128, "bakit?" I think i need pa din ng counselling.

Mga sis, hope you be patient with yourself about pagpapatawad, ang importante bukas ang puso niyo sa pagpapatawad, as to when will it happen, only time can tell.

You want to get rid of it.

Also, kung applicable sa inyo, huwag niyong isiping kasalanan yung nararamdaman ninyong galit, because anger is a normal and natural response when you were cheated on.

In addition to counseling, at kung hindi kayo nabigyan ng psychoeducation, do read about post-traumatic stress after infidelity. Maybe that can help you understand yourself and your responses better. From there, maybe you can find additional coping strategies.

It can also be helpful to find meaning in your pain, though mahirap ito gawin sa simula, usually this happens near or at the end of the suffering.

Lastly, empower yourself and don't let your world revolve around your husband. If you're one of the women who has forgotten about their identity, who they are as an individual, then maybe you can start finding that person.

May God be with you! And have a fruitful counseling

I went there this week, after 2 weeks pa ako nakapag pa sked when I called them. Meron sa Makati extension office nila yung Don Bosco.
