Nintendo DS/DS Lite/DSi [Thread 2]

Okay, where do I begin on this one?... Lemme see...

goldbabyphat, a couple of questions.

1. What's the exact name and location of the store you bought the DS from?
2. Did I hear you right, you tried to plug your charger into a 110V AND 220V?
3. What was/were the game/s you were playing for 2-3 hours before the DS died?
4. When you got your first DS, did it ask for language, time, name, etc. settings like the 2nd one you got? And was the first one sealed also?

These are factors that can tell me as to why you're having that much frustration on your gaming experience.

Everyone, if you're using a homebrew cartridge, to do a soft reset, press A+B+X+Y+L+R.

annie_barzaga, I believe the DS Lite these days can cost around Php6000. I suggest just getting her a DS Lite first to familiarize herself with the device. Maybe you can make her choose also coz there are significant differences on both devices.

How long does it usually last anyway if im using my screen brightness at level 3 and 50% volume?

I tried the reset and it works. Thanks for the information. I don't think it will harm my DS if I reset it all the time naman noh?

^^ I don't usually gauge the battery life by the brightness but what kind of game I'm playing, especially if I'm using the touchscreen the whole time. If ever I play a touchscreen-heavy gaming, the battery lasts me for about 2-2 1/2 hours. For directional pad gaming, it's 3-4 hours. For both, it's 2 1/2-3 hours. This is if I play straight.

And, no, there are no recorded issues due to soft resets.

I thought the battery life of the DS is a lot longer compared to the PSP that's why I bought it. Lol. But thanks so much for your help. You seem to really know a lot about DS.

^^ The hours I've mentioned only relates to my experience so it can be different for you. The DS battery can last up to 19 hours of play, as stated by Nintendo, but, again, it's entirely up to the kind of game you're playing. That's also why I got myself a USB charger just in case.

Just go play and enjoy the games. I've seen what you have on your DS (from the DS Games thread) so I'm sure you're having fun. I also suggest Elite Beat Agents and Rhythm Heaven, if you're into music games. And I still think you should try Nintendogs. It's like tamagotchi only more cute and interactive.

Mine lasts about 4-6 hours with constant use of my touch screen so I guess that's pretty much okay right?

Thanks. I'll also try what you mentioned but I still have like about 30+ games and I don't get to play all of them. Lol. I like playing pambata games because it's a change from what I usually play on my PSP. And I like puzzle games as well.

goldbabyphat, for puzzle games, I strongly recommend Professor Layton and the Curious Village (which you already have). That's the ONLY puzzle game I'll ever suggest coz it has an amazing storyline. I never thought I'll get so hooked on a puzzle game this great! I can't wait for the next game for Layton.

iRasH, sadly, there's no official Nintendo Repair in the philippines but I can recommend going around greenhills for someone who can. Maybe from EYO at the 3rd floor of V-Mall. Give that a shot. Everything's gonna be alright.

This is such a great time to have a DS! Have you guys seen the vids for Scribblenauts? Amazing! This will be a first-day purchase for me, aside from the 2nd Layton. Love the DS!

^ Scribblenauts will be available around September (according to Game Spot). That's a long wait. But I still have lots of games to keep me entertained, I'm almost done with Super Princess Peach, my favorite girly game.

Just got myself another set of new peripherals for my DS(i).

Guitar Grip (from Guitar Hero On Tour: Modern Hits)
Wireless Pedometer (from Personal Trainer: Walking)

Now I got me two (2) Guitar Grips and I'm still debating if I should sell my extra one. I'm really a packrat kind of person when it comes to my stuff so it's gonna take a while before I decide OR someone gives me a good offer on the grip... whichever comes first.

goldbabyphat and starlitgrove, I'm beginning to see your POVs on Scribblenauts with the trailer/s and I have seen that it is good.

What's so amazing is that E3 returned this year with a bang and included a lineup of spectacular games that easily bested the selections from years past. Just in terms of the exciting games on hand, this year's E3 was one of the best yet, with sequels to heavy hitters such as Forza Motorsport 2, Assassin's Creed, God of War, and Modern Warfare on display. But it wasn't a sequel that impressed them most... It was a little-known Nintendo DS game called Scribblenauts.

Scribblenauts is simply one of the most original games they've ever seen. Whereas most games offer a limited number of options at any given time, the only restriction in Scribblenauts seems to be the limits of your imagination. That's not to take away from any of our other finalists, all of which look fantastic. But the fact that 5TH Cell was able to competently pull together a seemingly impossible concept and execute it in a manner that is captivating, exhilarating, and ground-breaking is precisely why it's the...... wait for it......

I don't think there's a DS(i)Ware for eBooks and I haven't checked if the homebrew for DS(i) has also. I'm keeping my homebrew activities to my DS Lite. My DS(i) stays 100% homebrew-free.

hmmm... ang ginagamit ko na lang COMIC BOOK DS. Mejo inconvenient kasi icoconvert ko pa: pdf to image tapos images to .cbds

kamikezo824, I suggest you go to the 3rd floor of V-Mall, Greenhills for that situation. Just want to confirm if you're having an issue with your DS charger, am I correct?

starlitgrove, there's never going to be a Guitar Grip for the DS(i), there's no SLOT-2 anymore. That's the main reason why I still kept my DS Lite and won't sell it off. As for my extra Guitar Grip, I'm selling it for 1K coz it's in VERY GOOD condition coz I kept it in a special box with foam around it for travelling purposes. I'm very particular about my fave stuff so I spare no expense in keeping them safe and long-lasting.
