^I agree! If one plans to go to popular city centers like Rome, one is better off taking public transpo. But for the countryside where traffic is no problem and public transpo is hard to get by, I always recommend driving.

Am already planning my EU tour next year.  Just checked Air Asia, they have RT airfare for less than $600 to Paris via Orly / London as long as the flight is 7 months from time of booking.
 

That's a good price but have you included the other extras like baggage fee, meals, CRK/KUL/CRK fare and MNL/CRK/MNL (if coming from MNL). Their total fare may come out comparable to the other carriers offering promo fares of USD600-700 ex MNL. Plus less the hassle of having so many transfer points.

sis, if you plan to visit Europe during low season months i.e.  late fall and winter there are airlines ex MNL offering promo fares. Check CX and KLM, they have an ongoing promo of USD600++ RT until March. With taxes that would be around USD750  to 800. It may be a bit higher than Air Asia but less hassle of transit points, baggage and meals included pa.

Ay sinabi nyo! Kakatempt nga. Kaya I told hubby next trip to Europe we'll go mid-March. The weather won't be as cold and towards spring na. We'll probably do the Orient Express too. Hay! Kaya ipon-ipon muna.

Sis mhoirae if I were you I will advise you not to drive here in italy lalo na kung for a week lang and kung mag ttour lang kayo. because its very difficult to find a parking lot here.as in..lalo na sa centro..at yung mga tourist spot na
pupuntahan ninyo.siguro it would take you one hour or more para humanap ng parking lot,tyempuhan pa..tapos sis hindi lahat ng parking lot pwede ka magpark.pag color blue lane my bayad.sa white lane free.chaka sis dito my mga place na hindi pwede daanan ng car kasi pang mga bus lang.basta ingat ka sis baka magka multa ka.yung saken I enter dun sa hindi pwede my god 85euro na agad...

Wow, ang mahal ng fine.  But we plan to stay in a villa in somewhere between Florence & Siena and then explore Tuscany from there.  I don't think it will be possible without a car.

Manila to Hongkong via Cathay Pacific, then Hongkong to Munich via Lufthansa then Munich to Madrid Lufthansa total price 680 Euro ok lang ba? 

sis, medyo mahal sya. If you can still wait, visit mo the Travel Expo happening at MOA this coming weekend. Maglalabas ng promo fare not only CX but other airlines rin. Sa CX I know magkaka-offer na USD500++ for round trip MNL to Paris or London. Add ka nalang konti for the Madrid leg.

^Oh so you're taking CX918 from MNL leaving 1750H or 5:50PM. Yung timings kasi used is military time which is easier to distinguish compared to regular time.

ano po requirements ng Visa Application for Paris? pwede bang ipalakad sa agency ito..

situation is, parehas kami ni hubby na work from home... and yung work namin is wala kami mapapakitang ITR.. COE lang ang meron.

sobrang importante ba ng ITR sa visa application for Paris?

bank account statement, properties and COE will not be enough?

If you guys are going to Rome better take the metro,tram and bus. Mabilis and less hassle. There's a pass naman that you could buy at the station that is good for 3 days and 7 days so you could take all kinds of public transpo unlimited (except trains). Although be ready sa matinding siksikan and also lakaran. Also know the routes for the Metro and whether its Line A or Line B kasi medyo nakakalito and also the stops like Ottaviano is for St.Peter's Square.Pati na rin buses, which bus to take, where does it stop and until what time is it available.

Try also some aperitivo at Trastevere or Piazza Venezia. And by the way, they have a charge of 3 euro per day/ per person in Rome. Tourist tax daw. That is if you stay lang naman in a hotel.

^Yup, the tourist tax is standard for all of Europe when you stay in a hotel.

On the siksikan, ingat lang kasi that's where pickpockets thrive. Sabagay anywhere in the world naman. Nabiktima na rin si hubby sa Rome when he was still a teenager. Good thing he was with his folks that time.

River cruise is the best way to see Europe. Booked at Scenic cruise ship(just check on the net for their full details) a bit expensive but suburb.My first time to see Europe and will never forget..(April 23, 2010- May 27)Up rhine from Amsterdam thru canals down danube to Black Sea ending in Istanbul, Turkey.

I'm planning our itinerary for our next trip late Sept 2012. It will be another DIY trip (my favorite way to go). Hubby and I plan to go on a road trip in Southern France then cross over to Italy. Still deciding if we'll drive to Italy or take the train. We wil be sticking with just 2 countries so we really get to experience the people and the culture.

In Italy, we plan to go to Firenze (Florence), Venice, Rome and the Amalfi coast. For those who've been to these places, any tips you can share?

Florence has the BEST food, Venice, the worst. Rome is ok

Also, Florence has got good gold jewelry shops and leather goods, I kinda went crazy shopping for jewelry there. I bought a puzzle ring (amongst other jewelry) and a leather bag for my mom in Florence.

Venice... I will never go back to. I mean it's good to see once, but that's it. It's a tourist trap and the food is overpriced for it's quality. It's not even that nice. And of course, you have to add 10% tax on top of your bill. Must! Overcrowded, overpriced place... didn't like it here talaga. Went on the gondola, scared the sh*t out of me! Again, nice to experience once, but I wouldnt go on it again. I wanted to buy some Murano glasses here kaso mahirap ihandcarry nakakahilo ang alleyways! So easy to get lost so ingat lang

Rome, very much like Manila. Pushing, yelling and shoving in the train on rush hours, OMG parang Pinas! Mas tamed pa nga pinas, dun talaga sigawan LOL kaloka. But of course Manila doesn't have the architecture unlike Rome. Madami rin snatchers and madumi, like Pinas. Food here was ok. Wasn't as yummy as Florence' but not bad as Venice. But Florence talaga, as a foodie, napa wow ako kasi ang sarap talaga!

We were warned beforehand that Rome is dirty... and wag ikukumpara sa germanic countries we just came from. I wasn't bothered, after all, sanay naman ako sa pinas. I was in my element in Rome felt right at home. I had my elbows out sa train and ready makipagsiksikan

Hi mga sis. Ask ko lang. Is $7768 (singaporean) ok na for a 12 day Switzerland, France, Italy tour? or masyadong mahal? for early sept pala to nga departure.  We just booked our honeymoon kasi sa travel fair dito sa singapore.

Included na dyan airfare, hotels, all land transfers (bus through all the countries), tax, 60% of food for 2 people. Let's say S$1==32php, so mga php248,576.

sabi ng friend ko even S$10k including shopping money and all misc expenses so mga php320k kami ni bf total for the 2 of us.

reasonable ba mga sis or napamahal kami masyado? ayoko kasi magDIY kasi honeymoon namin. the less stress the better.
