My cousin and i are planning for our European getaway din. Target month namin is APRIL. Kasi the weather's just right around that time. We thought about booking with Contiki. Pero we're gonna go backpacking instead.. Meet local people and just go with the flow.

^IMO, mas okay pumunta ng summer time kasi you don't need to bring winter clothes that will just eat up your luggage allowance. Kasi kahit spring time na ang April malamig pa din. Actually, ang nakakaasar pag umaga malamig, tapos pag pahapon na mainit, tapos sa gabi, malamig na ulit. May times na hindi mo din matolerate yung lamig. At least pag summer, kahit jeans and light weight blouse/top will do. Pero, going to Europe during the cold months is still an experience in itself... hehe Ang gulo, but I've been there during winter and spring so my next target is to spend one summer there naman. I mean, how bad can it be e dito satin summer all year long! :-)

Hi ladies! my hubby and i will be spending our 2nd honeymoon in europe for 2 weeks this late october. We've never been there and i was wondering if the best option for us is to take a tour package na lang.. as much as possible sana, we wanted to visit as many countries as we can (especially the must-go-to places!). i do have the time naman din to plan our itinerary but i really have no idea where to start! would appreciate any advice sisses! TIA!

Ill be having my Euro trip on Thursday.  London-Paris (France) -Rome (Italy) -Florence (Italy) -Zurich (Switzerland) -Salzburg (Austria) -Munich (Germany).  How's the weather na kaya?  Is it too early to bring knee high boots?  I was also in Paris last December and it was winter, then.  Im so excited na for this trip.

My trip to Germany and France is in two week's time and I'm bringing a pair of knee high boots as it can get cold in the evenings. The secret in clothing is layering. I always wear sando type thermals underneath my sweater, then I have an overcoat/jacket on top. Oh, and a scarf too. Always works for me.

Ako dinako mag dadala at mag suot ng boots w/heels. I dunno what I was thinking! Major major lakad talaga sa city ang drama pag nasa Europe ka coz it's so clean & safe

My friends and I are saving up already for 2011 or 2012 backpack tour. Can't wait!

^I love DIY trips! Part of the trip's excitement is the preparation and planning. For our trip next week to Germany and France, my preparation started last year pa. Paunti-unting research. From the car rental, train tickets, hotels in Germany and apartment in Paris, everything was done DIY.

The biggest challenge that I had during the planning was how to get tickets for the Oberammergau Passion Play. This show is only being performed in this little town in Germany every 10 years. If one gets a package thru a travel agent, one can easily spend a fortune! But since DIY nga we spent only a fourth of the cost. But boy! We really had to work/plan hard on how to get our hands on those tickets since they weren't that easy to get a hold of.

I'll be sharing our experience after our trip na lang. So to all DIYing their trips, happy planning! And most importantly have lots of patience!

@ Sis Vhanya - huwaw! Egypt is my dream destination!   I know sis, major major talaga! I'm going to sell those Zara boots of mine na nga eh. ok lang mag boots pag dinner out near your hotel pero kung d whole day emote ng naka heels? forget it. I should've gotten wedge heeled boots. howelz...

@ mama squeak! - I'm soo inggit! Keep us posted when you get back. we've already learned so much from your DIY trips.

Mga sis you think this is enough savings? - if I'll travel 20 months from now (summer 2012) and I save 10k a month = 200k. tama na kaya yun or bitin? if the exchange rate is still 60= 1eu, nasa 3k euros lang dala ko. hmmm....

^sis I'm just happy to share my experiences and of course help our GT sis. Re your Q, if ikaw lang magbyahe that should be enough. Don't expect luxuries lang i.e. airfares, hotels, food, etc.

Just to give you a rough breakdown of our expense for travel this Sep/Oct:

airfare         -  KLM (MNL/FRA - CDG/MNL)  USD1200/pax
hotels in Germany (opted for hotels kasi road trip kami) - EUR700 (8 nights)
car rental for the road trip + gas/toll fees - EUR300
train tickets   - TGV (Munich-Chartres-Mont St. Michel-Paris)  EUR200/pax
apartment in Paris - EUR400 (5 nights)
misc exp i.e. food/metro/museum fees/etc.  - EUR500/pax

Take note lang, the accommodation and train fares we got were not the backpackers standard kaya mas matipid pa if you really want to save more.
