she is 2.5 year old i enrolled her in toddler class..10 to 12pm only pag pumapasok na sya sa skul iyak sya tpos minsan may kasama pang suka ..pero hndi naman for the whole class na 2 hours sya iyak [textspeak!] mga 10 to 20 min. tapos magsstop na sya..almost 1 month na ganun pa din ...ang alam ko kasi seperation anxiety maximum na 2 weeks eh...

any tips mga sis? any encounter this kind of problem?

Maybe she's not yet ready for school.  Kung ano nasa situation mo sis, papatigilin ko muna siya tapos after a month or two, try ulit kung okay na sya.

ganyan din ang kiddo ko nung una at umabot din sa 1 buwan kaya tamang observe ako kasi i know na may reason kung bakit ganon ang kiddo ko till i found out na hindi pala approachable ang teacher at ang teacher na naghahandle sa class nila is HS teacher kaya pala strict at nangungurot, namimingot ng tenga although hindi naman naranasan ng kiddo ko pero nakikita nya sa classmate nya. it means hindi comfortable ang kiddo ko sa teacher nya at baka rin hindi pa sya ready sa big school kaya i decided na ilipat sa iba sa mga learning school lang muna.now my kid enjoy schooling na at gustuhin ko man ilipat sa big school pero ayaw nya.

How is she the rest of the class? And does she actually like going to school? I mean, at 2.5, kahit pano nagkikwento na yan about what she did in school... excited ba sya?

Tas baka din masyadong matagal ang 2 hours of school kahit na toddler class pa lang?

Personally, I would pull out my child nga muna... and maybe enroll her in Gymboree or Kindermusik na lang instead for play and interaction...or if you're from QC, yung toddler class ng Kids Ahoy na once or twice a week lang... instead of putting her through that upset everyday...

Parang sobrang bata pa ng 2.5 para pumasok,baka di pa sya ready sis..stop mo kaya muna baka ma trauma lang? ask mo din kung bakit sya umiiyak.

sis, baka nga hindi pa ready ang daughter mo for school. daughter ko nag start lang mag school ngayong 4 ys. old na sya. alam namin na ready na sya talaga kasi, gustung gusto nya pumapasok. pero me mga classmates daw sya na umiiyak pa rin at ayaw mag paiwan sa mga parents nila.

pero nung 3 yrs old sya, gustung gusto na rin nyang mag aral kaya lang na late sya sa enrollment.

@ Marose : thanks so much for the feedback sis. My mom called up the school to inquire, then she asked kung what type of test daw binibigay. She was told na confidential but it's more about the basics daw.

baka po too early pa sa kanya. try mo yung 3x per week lang ang pasok. yung baby ko kasi ngayon rin lang nagstart. btw, he just turned 3 last may. prior to school proper may summer class sila na mostly playtime and color lang ang ginagawa, just to get them familiarized with the surroundings. still nung nagpasukan na this june until early july, my baby still cried and cried and i sat beside him during his classes. but i told myself that it should stop. one day... when he entered school i just told him that i'll wait for him outside. even if he was clinging to me, i gave him to the assistant teacher. he cried for over 5-10 minutes. everyday we were like that. but now, he just goes to school with no more battle cries.

before going to sleep at night, i would tell him that tomorrow he would go to school. i even brought him a book regarding going to school. the story is about things that are usually done at school. and i always remind him that i will be outside the door waiting for him when his classes are over.

It's possible na hindi pa siya talaga ready. And yes, 2 hours is quite long. What do they do inside sis?

sis pdate lang just this friday sabi ni yaya hndi na daw cry si baby hopefully continous na

I was able to contact Little Sandbox, mukhang ok their curriculum.

I'll schedule a trial class for her soon, will give feedback.

^hi wifey! yes, my daughter is enrolled in Kidschool Child Development Center in Sct. Dr. Lazcano near Max's. And so far, I am so thankful for finding that school amidst the more "popular" schools here in the thread! Satisfied kami so far sa system nila and way of teaching. I haven't heard my daughter say na tinatamad sya to go to school..though of course pahirapan pa din to get up and ready in the morning pero kahit antok pa, gusto naman nya pumasok. hehe Tomorrow we're scheduled to do the observation sa class, im excited

^ would you know kung montessori or bank street approach sya?

im not familiar with Bank Street, but during our orientation, she gave us the difference and similarities of Montessori and Piagetian, and  concluded that they're mix of both yung approach nila.

Hi Moms, just wanna know if what month ba usually nag-start magpa-take ng entrance exams ang pre-schools? My son's 2 years and 5 months old now, by the way.

Right now, I am super torn. I am still on the look-out for the most suitable pre-school for my son pero I have a very limited choices here in Bulacan.

Actually, my husband wants na sa Manila sya mag-nursery. Kahit somewhere around QC para medyo malapit naman samin. He wants to enroll our child sa Katipunan area cos we're targeting ADMU for Prep or Grade 1.
Now, my dilemma is, kapag sa Katipunan sya nag-aral he'll spend Mondays-Fridays with his yaya + my dad lang. I can't stay there with him kasi I still go to school and by that time, I'll have to look after our NB naman.

If you're on my shoes, what would you do? Nalulungkot lang kasi ako-- I wanna give him the best possible education there is but I can't stay with him naman.

^ Hi Kime!  I started preschool hunting around October last year.  As far as I know, there is no entrance test to be admitted to a preschool as long as there are available slots.

If Ateneo is your target, I really recommend preschools in Katipunan and Loyola Heights area since most of their grads go to Ateneo.  You could say that the preparation they give to their students is geared towards Ateneo, Miriam and other schools within the area.

However, your son needs to be with you more during this transition.  Going to preschool is quite stressful, no matter how enjoyable, for young children.  Thus, they need to be with their parents.

As a compromise, you can send him to a nearby preschool next year (anyway, the first year in preschool is really more for socialization) and maybe just transfer him to a preschool in Manila the following year.  Just a thought.

^ Thanks, Marose. I like your idea and tama ka, he needs to stay with us muna for his first year in school. Though I would have to tell my husband pa muna about this, very eager kasi siya and my ILs to send Matt to a preschool in Manila.

Anyway, can you suggest a good preschool within Katipunan?

^ If you want Montessori type, Family Montessori Preschool of Loyola or Montessori Child Development Center (MCDC) along Esteban Abada - street parallel to Katipunan.  My kids go to FMPL and so far, I am satisfied with the school.   There's another Montessori school inside Varsity Hills called Montessori of Loyola.  I was not able to check it out though.  They claim they got 100% acceptance rate to Ateneo.

If you want progressive, there's Multiple Intelligence International School along Escaler Street (this is near the SM condo) - popular with celebrities and athletes.  There's also Learningville in Xavierville Avenue - my friend sends her child here and she's happy with the school.

If you go for the traditional type, Miriam College Child Study Center (CSC) has excellent facilities.  I love their library and reading rooms. CSC offers progressive method for the First Step program (for 3 years above yata) and  traditional (there's homework, worksheets and the classroom is set up in the traditional manner) for Nursery and Kinder.  I heard CSC has a high acceptance rate to Ateneo too.  Ayoko lang talaga ng homework and worksheets for young children. (There's an "assessment" before they accept a child to their school.  Not sure what that entails.

There's also Pediahouse along R. Alvero Street.  Institution na iyan sa L. Heights. 

There's also Mater Christi (run by a former PAREF school directress) along B. Gonzales and Sacred Heart inside Varsity Hills run by nuns.  Last, Filipino Child Learning Center along E. Abada beside MCDC.  Parang may grade school yata here.

My top picks before were FMPL and MCDC.
