5 years old na po sya.

ako di mapakali if walang health cards kids ko. kids are more susceptible to get sick plus those little accidents (mauntog, madulas, etc). mas kampante ako if they have one. once i lost my daughter's health card and it took ages for my husband's company to follow it up with maxicare. then by murphy's law, nag-fever din si daughter. hay todo dasal na hindi ma-hospital kasi ayoko gumastos ng malaki. lol

i had an officemate naman before who did not get a healthcard for her daughter kasi nanghihinayang with the Php 6k premium we have to pay. take note this was discounted na since our company shoulders a portion of the premium for our dependents. tapos payable pa in 1 year. ayaw niya talaga. ayun na-emergency daughter niya. balikan niya sa Cardinal hospital ER reached to php 30k++.

just think of the health card like car insurance. you wouldnt want to drive your car without one. siyempre ayaw mo din maaksidente. pero mas kampante that you have one.

@thebratinella, I used both Medicard and Maxicare before.  Same lang naman sila, I guess.  Now, our health card is Intellicare kasi lumipat ng office ang husband ko this year.

:(  Mabuti na lang hindi sila sakitin and we visited the pedia only once this year.  Ayoko naman magpalit ng pedia.

For me, pang-ER, confinement at labs ang silbi ng health card.

Calculate mo na lang ulit if worth it.

So far sya ang may pinakamaraming anak, we will have our 4th baby sa april so buti na lang lahat naman covered.

^mahal nga ng premium mo. kami by next year hindi na covered ng company ni hubby yung premiums ng dependent (now it's at a discounted rate). so for my 2 kids plus for me, Php 36k. ang laki but payable naman for a year. di ko tuloy alam if kukuha ako for all 3 of us. baka sa kids na lang. my bunso nasulit yung card niya last year. his 2 hospitalizations alone almost 100k. our healthcard talaga is primarily for ER and hospitalization since the kids' pedia though maxicare accredited, relative namin so libre ang PF.

As per the package, hindi covered samin ang SLMC and Asian Hospital. Hindi rin kami pwede sa Healthway. Mas convenient sana kung pwede sa SLMC kasi mas malapit yun samin kesa MMC. We live in Taguig.

marose- thanks! i'll check both cards. hindi din kasi ako kampante na walang healthcard. like you, more of ER and confinement iniisip namin kasi yung pedia niya naman hindi covered ng healthcard before. mas maganda lang na whatever happens, hindi magpapanic dahil sa gastos.

Dapat may orientation kayo with your HMO tsaka bibigyan din kayo ng list of accredited clinics and hospitals

What health card to you have? Maxicare Platinum

1. Covered ba pregnancy/delivery nyo? Yes. If I go to a primary care facility (TMC, MMC, etc) delivery charges are fully covered. But since I'll be giving birth at Cardinal I think Maxoicare will cover 80%
2. How much ang covered? 80% of most expenses, up to PHP2,000/room/night and a certain amount of non-accredited professional fees depending on CS or normal.
3. Did you use your health card? Yea I use it for all lab tests, ultrasounds, prescriptions, etc
4. Is it health card + philhealth? Hmm Philhealth is offered separately right? In my case, yes I also have Philhealth
5. Direct by-card payment or thru reimbursement? If primary care facility, direct by card. I need to confirm for delivery. Last time I went to Cardinal's ER for a fracture I didn't shell out any money at all.

^it depends kasi sa agreement between your company and the healthcard company. Ako as a dependent, my maxi care platinum covered my delivery but not that big. Reimbursible up to 20k for normal and 30k if CS (these amount I still have to verify). Then if you're the primary, Iba din ang coverage for delivery. Lumalabas nga parang I didn't pay anything when I gave birth since the PF of my OB and pedia are waived. Whatever we paid for the room were covered by our reimbursement.

My husband works in fort and he said their HR daw is pressuring maxicare to make arrangements with SLMC to accept maxicare or else the company will cease their contract with them. Eh medyo malaki-laking account sila (primary + dependents are into the thousands). Makes sense naman kasi if they have emergencies in the office alangan naman they bring them pa to makati med or medical city.
