Just finished backreading and very interesting ang Travel Agency business. Additional Q, anong challenges ng mga owners with their clients aside from the makukulit and bargain-haggler ones?

IMO, madali magtayo nito if you have all the required resources like money and connections/tie-ups pero still important pa rin to foresee everyday challenges that you are going to deal. When sis ms_simone mentioned that this is a 24/7 business, medyo naging skeptical ako. Important kasi sakin ang weekends. Siguro okay lang ito if you are lucky enough to hire employees who are really dedicated on their work (e.g. willing to do weekend work, overtime and really really patient on clients).

Also, to TA owners, sa mga nagpplans like us kailangan ba well-travelled? Ako kasi, hindi. Naisip ko lang to put up one like this para I'll have the means to travel. Hehe.

^i agree, it's a 24/7 business, lalo na kung may rebooking or cancellation of flights etc.,
that's why i always bring my mobile pldt wherever i go.

not necessarily na well-traveled ka, you can browse the net to acquire knowledge sa mga places
here and abroad, but of course, may chances talaga na makakapunta ka abroad, lalo na kung
magpapamigay na ng free tickets yung IATA or the airline itself, yun ang masarap na part ng
ganitong negosyo hehe

...just attended product updates from different airlines...and just a TIP: kapag may client kayo na
naoffload, instruct them to go straight sa counter ng airline para hindi masayang yung ticket.

puwede siguro ticketing ka lang, or passporting since malapit ka sa DFA-Tuguegarao.

ganito gawin mo, kumausap ka ng agency dyan sa Tuguegarao or nearby towns na merong agency
na DFA Accredited, then sabihin mo na i-ride on mo sa kanya yung mga applicants mo sa passport,
bibigyan ka ng discount nyan.

with regards to ticketing, puwede ka bumili via CC, or kung mga complicated na routes or segments abroad
puwede mo ako i-PM, cash basis nga lang hehe

Hindi naman need na well travelled pero dapat matyaga ka mag research online para kapag me tinanong sa iyo masasagot mo.

To those who are just planning to start their own business...kahit na anong business....if you own the business then take full responsibility at wag lahat iaasa sa employees nyo. Kahit gaano pa kagaling yan, they will not have the same malasakit as you pagdating sa pag-aalaga ng sarili nyong negosyo. Just a nugget of advice :-)

Pero yes, in case of emergencies (cancelled flights etc) you need to be available to assist your guests.

Sis, do you personally know the owner? Madali mag-invest, that's income minus all the works of putting up an agency but the question is, paanong set up? Anong mga perks, how much and kita? Perks meaning may mga free travel ka bang makukuha? Type ko yan kung ganyan, pero kung walang mga free travel or discounted man lang, at kung tamang kita lang din, mag-invest na lang ako ng iba. Maganda may mga travel perks kasama. Let me know kung merun, sali ako!

^Joan, andito ka rin, hehe. I have mine as homebased lang. Tuma-tie up lang ako sa mga agencies then yun commissions lang. Ano bang gusto mo? Yung tipong may office ka na ia-allot? May mga seminars for this. Try mo attend, mas complete yung info and sila mismo mo magbibigay sayo ng mga tips and kakilala na pwede mong kausapin. Kung andyan lang ako lagi sa Manila madali sana. Pero dyan sa Bulacan dami din travel agencies a.

YES required ang complete ang papers mo kasi requirements yun for tie ups with most hotels and tour operators at airlines din. To get access sa airlines, you need to tie up with General Sales Agents of each airlines. Me kanya-kanya silang requirements and minimum deposit.

Depende sa iyo at sa klase ng set up na gusto, around 50-80K pwede na, for homebased kung lahat eh bibilhin mo like computers, pakabit internet, fax, printer, phone, cp for exclusive use sa business, set up ng home office, business permits, etc.
