wow sis lovemylife inggit ako sayo! gusto ko rin homebased lang. ask ko lang what travel system you use tie up ka sa isang agency? i already inquired sa abacus per reqts nila is DTI and mayor's permit. im planning to attend seminar ng business coach sa aug 29 then i will start from there.

Sa first clients wala pa akong tie-up but was clinging with a non-IATA agent. Then napadpad nga ako dito at nagbasa ng post ni sis kolinetongue so I PMed her for infos. Sayang kasi yung kikitain namin if di kami ang didirect sa Agency. Try to PM her too. She gave me a contact and if you're near Baguio, they have a free abacus training as well.

luvko23, ako sis no choice. Hehe! Ayaw din ni hubby na nasa labas ako at gusto niya nakatutok ako sa bata. Anyway, he's the one bringing in the clients e. Some of the workers where he work (he's abroad) ang ginagawa niya, kinocontrata na niya na siya ang bahala sa ticket nila and with the working visa. Kaya medyo walang hassle sakin and no need na maglagay pa ng mga flyers para makilala but of course would love din na magkaroon ako ng sarili kong pwesto and clients.

orangebabe80, you don't need to have an office agad. You may start homebased basta mei DSL and computer ka na, madaling madali na lang yung iba like flyers and installing abacus program. Regarding the requirements such as business permit, etc. Basta ang need ko agad kasi is the business name and the official receipt. And syempre TIN importante din. Kaya natin toh!

mga sis i just came from the seminar and this is what i have learned

- as a starter i really need to tie-up with agency for domestic and international bookings
- if wala ka pa mahanap na agency then you can do tour packages in fairness based sa nasabi ng speaker sa seminar you can get at some hotels 50% off the published rate tapos you as a travel agency bahala na magmarkup
- very important to have mga permits so you can get what the call contracted rates sa hotel, important din ang permits when you want to tie up with an IATA and wholesaler hotel agency
- grabe ang mahal ng cash bond ng mga domestic airlines as in sobrang mahal, eh di lalo na if you want to be an IATA travel agency. you need this cash bond with the domestic airline or sa shipping so you can directly book with them for your clients. example cebu pacific daw is 150,000 cash bond, pal is 300k, etc.
- important then you have the amadeus, or abacus or galileo system to see the reservation of all airlines and hotels.
- ang earnings ng isang travel agency is thru the ff:
a. domestic ticketing - service charge of 100-250 marked up on the ticket
b. international ticketing - difference from the rate sheet that the airline gives to IATA and from gross rate of amadeus system or abacus or galileo in short the published rate.
c. tour packages - for domestic packages need to submit permits to hotels then they will give you a contracted rate which is way lower than the published rate
- for international packages you need to tie-up with a IATA agency to get these packages
d. passport assistance - usually earn mga 500
e. tourist visa assistance - usually earn mga 2000-3000
f. field trips or educational tours
g. NSO accreditation - earn mga 150

kaya on monday first plan ko is to go to munisipyo to get list of reqts for business permit and see if papayagan ako sa home based. balak ko kasi muna kahit tour packages lang arrange. pag medyo okay tska ako makipag tie up sa IATA agencies for ticketing and so on..

ohh well yun ang 3k worth of information nakuha ko sa seminar. hehe.. if may questions kayo il try to answer them

madali lang kumuha ng mga permits mga sis,,i just started this bis last month at meron na kaming earnings na nasa 30k na meron kasi ako nka tie up na malakas na hotels kya di masyado mahirap,pag meron kami ticketing like domistic o kya international meron ako kinausap ng agency na member ng IATA para makapag book kmi,,
,una punta ka muna DTI and then go to city hall tsaka BIR,yun [textspeak!],,we had our office at 3rd floor,savers square dome pasay city,,,

anyway, back to the real issue, this whole travel agency biz got me really interested, anyone knows any upcoming seminar?

I wanna put up one sana. This biz has the potential as it is something that will last and has a steady demand, and hindi sya fad unlike networking. Kaya lang I'm at a daze. For instance, I can't really understand why you need to tie up with a travel agency (even after all the backreading), is it just because of the system (the one you call Amadeus or Galileo)?

Can somebody familiarize me with the jargons?

like:

Amadeus and Galileo (what are these exactly?)
IATA
NSO

Sorry ah, I'm really a newbie in this area, parang kelangan ko ng travel-agency-biz-for-dummies sort of explanation..

I also checked GTtrends, pero parang mas complicated, can anybody here explain the concept?

I believe it is the same for all other sisses na interested but are clueless..

Amadeus and Galileo at abacus,,this are the programs installed on your computer so that you can see the available seats and promos of all airlines and to see the reservations of hotels also.
 IATA is the international airlines ass.
 NSO is national statistic ofis,,like kung gusto magpalakad nlang sa inyo ng kanilang mga authenticated b.certificates

Hi Sis... actually madali lang magtayo ng ganitong business pero ang kailangan mo rin talaga ng market. Pwede kang mag-enroll sa abacus para mafamiliarize mo yun kasi madami kang airline code na kailangang alamin, mga rules and restrictions sa airlines, i know someone na nagstart lang ng about 10k kasi since she has computer, internet, fax machine and telephone nakapagtayo siya ng trave agency,she said na she just attended yun class sa abacus then after nun nagpainstall sya sa computer nya ng system ng abacus, pero syempre magisa lang muna sya nun, she handles domestic and international rin nun time na yun.

Hi mga sis, nakakatuwa naman ang thread na ito, very informative.. I'm very eager to put up something like this, pero nasa planning stage pa rin ako and ipon pa ng guts. Kakainggit ka naman sis kolinetounge, you've found a tie ups. Pano ba maki pag tie up with travel agencies? baka naman you could share your insights pano mo sila kinausap or [textspeak!] arrangements nyo?

I wanted to start really soon, may space, and gamit na ako like the one you've mentioned, tie ups na lang talaga ang kulang. I hope you could help me naman, wala kasi talaga ako idea on this...lakas loob lang ehhehhehe maraming salamat and more power sa atin lahat.

hello ella,sory di ako makasagot sa pm mo kasi not allowed pa yata ako mag pm or di ko [textspeak!] alam kung hehe,anyway,sa tie ups naman ng mga agency di mo na kailangan ng mga sulat pa sa kanila,,you just need to approach them personally,mas maganda kung makausap mo ang talagang may ari kasi gusto rin nila na meron sila ka tie up kasi meron din silang sales pagka meron kang naipasok sa kanila,ang ipapasok mo lang naman sa kanila is yung mga plane tickets kasi ganun ang ginagawa namin ngayon bali plane tickets lang naman pinapasa namin kasi wala kaming ticketing sa ngayon,mahal kasi ang bond sa mga airlines,yan ay kung meron ka nang contact sa mga hotels and resorts,pero kung wala ka pang mga contact you can also give it to your tie up agency and sila na bahala mag ayos,,halimbawa meron kang clients going to boracay o kaya sa hongkong disneyland,kung wala kang contact sa mga hotels you can talk to your tie ups agency. or  pwede ka na rin sa amin makitie up para mas madali na lang,pag usapan na lang natin sa office,,thanks

sis kolintongue and lovemylife, possible ba na i get a business permit, mayor's permit if i just do the travel agency business sa house ko? yan kasi requirements sa abacus system. im from makati. mahirap po ba kunin mga permit na ito? i want sana to start from home tapos if i find a place na hindi masyado mahal ang rent then i can move out na to an office. any helps will be appreciated.

sowie, super busy ako sa agency kaya hindi na ako nakakadalaw dito.

first na ginawa namin is to register the agency. kase yung mga tie ups namin na IATA yun ang basic requirement nila, also in applying abacus system yung business registration ang hinihingi.

hi sis di po ba mahirap to put some bizness like this?? (sory for being stupid) im newbie po kc for this kind of biznes what do u mean by visa assistance at passporting, pati NSO, red ribbon or DFA authentication, & tour packages.... 
sis interesado po ako dito sana maka kuha pa ako ng more infos pwede po pa pm in case i have queries tnx! i nid more ideas about this po kc, sana po matulungan nyo ko tnx again!

ay naku sistah, walang kahirap hirap sa bisnes na ganito. basta customer satisfaction ang uunahin mo.

so far, from the time na nag-open kami last June 10,2009, consistent na ang income. at yung mga clients talagang bumabalik sila. meaning satisfied sila sa services ng agency namin. lalo na yung mga natutulungan namin sa kanilang visa applications. sa awa ng Diyos lahat naman granted yung mga visas nila.

actually, hindi pa kami nakakapag-grand opening kase wala ng time hekhek. sa 1st year anniversary na lang siguro.

as of now, we have 3 IATA tie ups na, so far lahat sila puwede namin utangan ng tickets at tour packages. post paid kumbaga yung mga kinukuha namin sa kanila. established na kase yung trust sa isa't- isa. malaking bagay kase yung tiwala.

masarap kung meron kang corporate accounts, kase regular na yun na magpapatiket sa yo. aside pa yung tour packages na kinukuha nila.

i agree with sis aprilweng, you need to talk to the owners of IATA personally kung gusto mo maki-tie up sa kanila. dalhin mo na rin business permits etc mo.

wow..really helpful thread! I'm planning to have this business as well..dito ako sa pampanga. may nagoffer sa'min na travel agency na established na..kaya lang the owner will migrate to US na daw for good. so far nabackground check na namin and wala naman bad record yung agency. Ang offer sa amin is to pay 250k daw and I can have the travel agency na including yung mga computers, system and mga gamit. as in uupo nalang daw ako..
you guys think ok na 250k or is it too much? ok ang location nya, and ang market dito foreigners sila.

Graduate pa naman ako ng tourism pero medyo wala  na rin ako matandaan from my course after 6 years na rin kasi yun.
