my shih tzu has an electric fan also.. so nakakarelate ako sa sis mo.. spoiled.. pero wala pa naman radio and clock  .. tama ka, need ko talaga yung all around furnitures na.. hay dami ko gagawin sobra.. hirap simulan..

  Ex:  my husband used to get out of the shower stall dripping wet.  Yuck!  Parang wet market.  Hindi ko inaway, I just bought  super big rugs -- 2 to get him from the shower stall to the sink. Now, he dries himself before getting out.  Hindi na sanay feeling wet tiles underfoot. 

sis aquacharly, my problem naman with my husband is mahilig siya maglagay ng wet towel sa kama. grrrr... jan ako lagi naiinis. after niya maligo, kahit bihis na siya, talagang dinadala niya yung towel at nilalagay sa kama. naglagay na ako ng hook near the bed pero no effect

Sis aquacharly, I don't know if this is the proper thread.  I just want to ask how you deal with household staff with attitude problems (i.e., cannot work with co-workers, resents the fact that a more senior helper gives them instructions, etc.).

The "new-fangled"  induction cooker is electric powered.  It is a cheaper version of the ceramic hobs/ranges that came out about 4 years ago. (Yung madaling ma sira nang mga katulong, for sure, LOL).   

Looks like a flat glass plate -- you do not see any burner.  Per my friend, it cooks faster than any lpg/regular electric burner.  Safe pa daw for kids -- siguro kasi walang naka expose na burner.  The principle behind its quick cooking is "magnetic".  (Beyond that hindi ko na alam, sorry).

Now, you cannot use teflon &/or aluminum cookware on it.
Stainless,  enamel and glass okay daw.

It appears to be easy to keep clean, and looks sleek -- so I thought of getting a 2-burner model to put on my buffet table for informal parties.  To keep soups piping hot, ganoon.  Pero well, I won't be using it every week, and hindi naman essential equipment -- so I won't get one na.

But PLEASE ask around 1st and get more info on it.  It is available in the department stores (1 burner or 2 burner).  Naisip ko lang kasi baka it is fast cooking -- eh baka iba ang preferred pace of cooking mo.  My friend said it is good for stews and soups.  (Mind you, she has a regular lpg range.)   So, if your cooking repertoire is wide -- perhaps you should stick with a regular electric or lpg (if allowed in your condo) hob.  Since you do not bake, no need for a range.  Magamit mo pa the space under  your hob for storing your cookware and groceries.

MOMMIE ME, I do not get maids who have just arrived from the province.  Sa tingin ko may culture shock pa yan, eh ayokong ako ang ma shock while they get used to our gadgets, possessions and lifestyle.  I get maids who have done service for at least 2 years in a house and in a village similar to my house and my village.  That way, ang focus na lang is on the helper maintaining our standards. Pag naka 2 years na kasi, IMO, na break-in na.  Hindi iyong kami mag break-in tapos ang dami din nyang break na gamit namin. 

With helpers, you have to train them accdg to a procedure.  Kelangan may orderly game plan ka and equip the helper with complete tools and supplies.  Tapos, you have to repeat your procedure/game plan for several times, under your supervision until ma gets nya and you are confident susundan ka na nya.  Do not trust that they will think like you. That will seldom happen.  Focus on breaking down a task into small steps na ang focus nila is to move from Step 1 to Step 2, etc etc.

Any new maid I orient well with my rules.
May 2 week trial period kami.  The 2 weeks gives me time to see if she can fit into my household, if she can live with our standards.  Sya naman she has that time to decide if she wants to serve Hitler and family.  LOL.

If a maid does not come around to your way in 2 weeks -- dispatcha mo na  Better no maid than one that lowers our standards, causes low morale kasi the others maiinis din  with her, or one that kinaiinisan mo. 
Better to hire a maid that costs almost like 2 maids in terms of wages, than naiinis ka magka highblood ka pa, mas mahal patanggal ng wrinkles.

^isa pa palang lesson sa akin : huwag masyado makipagkaibigan, makichika sa mga maids. Ang tendency kasi nagiging palagay ang loob na akala mo member of the family na rin, na halos kinalimutan na kung sino sila sa bahay, well hindi naman sa anupaman pero minsan nagiging abusado na eh. ayan ang aking number one no-no na ngayon.

Ok ba induction cooker kapalit ng ordinary gas stove for everyday cooking? It's faster, and I've heard it's cheaper?

GUMDROP, I look forward to the day I will not have to depend on househelp so much.  Sana ma outsource na lahat ng gawa sa bahay ano.  Heaven!   

I have not bought an induction cooker -yet.  Kasi I already have 2 full-sized ranges -- 1 a Smeg hob for my exclusive use; and another the La Germania range (with both electric and lpg burners) in the Service Kitchen.

Accdg to a friend who has a 2-burner Airoma-brand  I was so interested in -- he said that it was safe for his kids to operate, and it was faster.  You cannot use teflon and aluminum pots on it.  So I think it is good for stews.  GUMDROP, I really like the way it looks.  But I have to control myself coz it is not a need, just a want;  and I have to curb my acquisitive nature -- or else, live with clutter. 

It costs relatively cheaper now.  I remember that 5 years ago, these would come in the form of a hob -- and cost around P70thou!  Now, you can get a single burner for P2500 daw.

Pero sa tingin ko, hindi matibay ito sa mga maids.  LOL
Isang bagsak, at isang  "ay sorry,ma'am"  -- LOL, goodbye i/cooker!
The best thing talaga, IMO, for maids' use is still the regular lpg burners.. bagsak bagsakan  man nila -- let things overflow... buo pa ang burner.

Now that I got a maid for the new house na. What I do is I demonstrate them how to do the cleaning. Para alam nila yung linis na gusto ko. Then the next time checking nalang ako. Sabi ko pag nakasanayan na nila ang paglilinis ng ganito mapapadali ang gawain nila systematic cleaning ang gawa ko. From to top to bottom ang turo.

Hay sana lang effective.
