Grabe sis aquacharly, I will have you mind when I live in my dreamhouse already ;)

LIST OF ASSIGNMENTS

The key is to give the maid a list of assignments talaga, para alam nila what you expect them to do each day and dont make chika chika the maids. It makes a big difference-

Ako naman, our house is a starter house so its not that big and when we had furnitures made--talagang I made it a point na simple lang linisin ang bahay at wala mashadong gamit na puwedeng paginteresan. Kung meron man, its all locked in our room and kami lang ng husband ko pwede sa room namin- I clean our bedroom kasi madali lang naman and I consider it my exercise.

MENU

Isa lang ang maid namin so I maintain a weekly menu, depende kung ano type namin kainin and I also do grocery shopping once a week para I can choose which veggies my husband and I want to eat tapos I post the menus sa ref and bahala na ang maid magluto because I taught her my recipes already and gets na nya panlasa namin. All food items in the freezer are kept in separate containers and bago pa sha ipasok dun, tinitimplahan na.

Like straight from the grocery, the fish, beef and chicken items are washed, separated to serving portions and marinated right away then stored in separate containers sa freezer para ready na sha agad lutuin at di madumi ang freezer.

One of the BEST wedding gifts we received is this SPICE TOWER bought at Rustans. Its a tower that's like a lazy susan and all your spices are placed securely on it, I have never had a problem finding spices miski lahat ng klase meron kami because of that spice rack--super duper helpful sa kitchen tapos organized pa sobra tignan yung spices.

FLOORS

Afternoon and evening, I have the entire house wiped down especially the floors as in sinasabon everyday dahil when I walk barefoot sa bahay, ayoko talaga ng may dumi na kumakapit sa paa ko. So talagang if you walk around our house, walang kadumi dumi sa paa dahil super OC ako sa floors.

PETS

Isa pang ayoko is yung amoy aso sa bahay since we have a dog, so the maid has to clean her cage 3x a day so wala talaga shang amoy na parang walang aso sa bahay. Actually, tinanong na nga ng kapitbahay namin kung ano daw nilalagay namin sa food ng dog namin bakit daw ang bango ng dog. Natawa yung maid namin, ang sabi wala po kami nilalagay, nililinis lang po lagi--

I don't make utos maya't maya miski nasa bahay ang office namin. Im the type na ayoko talaga mag-utos ng mag-utos. Alam na ng maid kung ano dapat gawin kasi may list of assignment na ko for her sa simula pa lang, kung ano yung mga dapat linisin at gawin and the rest of the day, she can rest and play.

When we get a bigger house, Im thinking of doing a catalog of our things thru photos also. Right now, we do not have that much stuff so its okay but later on, I know na kakailanganin namin yung ganyang catalog system like sis aquacharly. ;D

Sis AVE,  have you seen the plastic boxes for shoes sold in Rustan's or Robinson's?  These come in 3 sizes -- shallow for flats, medium for highheels; and the bigger 1 for male shoes.  These have holes at the sides.  Do you think the problem of molds and leather stiffening will be solved by the holes?  Maganda lang with the boxes -- you see right away what's inside -- pero baka masakit sa ulo ano -- baka magmukhang dept store display?  My infrequently-used shoes are stored like yours now -- boxed wth colored pics.   :)

i have those cartons.. that you will fold yourself.. no labels. just the plain brown color..parang generic lang.. special request ko yun from somebody who used to sell liliw shoes..ive got dozens of shoes kasi.. pero i still dont have a space to claim my own walk in closet..i hate displaying shoes everywhere.. medyo allergic kasi ang feet ko sa dust... once it gets soiled from storage i really have to throw them... so far i havent found a way to save them.. so yun nga boxes everything..

holes will be great in addition to the dessicants that i put on them...i havent seen those plastic boxes you mentioned.. ang alam ko lang yun big plastic bins that you can stack on top of each other.. tapos lahat meron din gulong at the same time.. i use that to pile my books...really meron sa sm nun.... same material ba nun sinasabi ko? which section should i look for it... gift section? yun mga nagtitinda ng boxes?

mahirap yata maging OC kung wala kang house helpers kasi you do those things on your own tapos working ka pa. katulad ko na ordinary employee lang, di ko maa afford na kumuha ng helpers so i do all household chores myself.

pero hanga talaga ako sa mga OC's natin na sisters, grabeh ang tindi nyo! ;D

^ai sis you'll be surprised sa pinsan ko.. kasi when i was still working in makati, i used to live with her. she's a working mom (maliit pa nung time na yun) and walang katulong, talagang gumigising siya ng maaga everyday para mag wipe wipe sa bahay.. then pag uwi naman niya from work linis uli. tinatanong ko nga ba't siya punas ng punas eh wala namang alikabok, sabi naman niya akala lang daw natin na wala pero meron daw di lang nakikita. when she prepares our meal, malinis din talaga.. unlike me na bago matpos magluto nakakalat na lahat ng gamit  ;D

madami pa actually and i consider her OC talaga.. pinipilit ko ngang iapply yung mga ginagawa niya eh.. kaso lang mas masarap matulog na lang (tamad eh!)  :D

cute nga ng mga people with OC personality, i know someone, na goes to work at least 30 mins. earlier everyday, just to wipe her desk and things with alcohol or disinfectant, when she staple things she make sure that she put a little scotch tape at the back para daw hindi makasugat... she also can't stand even a small piece of paper na nakatabingi, she will always straighten it out lol

Thanks for the appreciation, mga Sis.  ;D
If you have any questions, just ask -- I am willing to share.

With regards to my manuals -- which ones do you have an interest in?

My helper manuals are geared towards the function.  Like 1 manual for the Main Cook (handles my husband's food requirements & responsible for the maintenance of our Family Kitchen - Daily Dining + the Service Kitchen).
Another Manual for the 2nd Cook (handles my & kids' food and also
responsible for my Formal Kitchen, Formal Dining & Master Bedroom, Bath
     & Dressing Room).
Another Manual for the Cleaner#1 & another for Cleaner #2 etc etc
Another for the Lavandera.

The above manuals are basically a listing of tasks (with special reminders where necessary)  done on a daily basis, weekly, b-monthly and monthly for EACH cook/helper.

Actually, mga Sis -- you just need to take time out to see what are your requirements -- ang katulong mo (que 1 or 10)  -- ano ang kelangan gawin in a day, in a week, etc?   Now, this task listing implies that each helper has a definite set of  tasks and areas of responsibility -- you can manualize but it will useless if you cannot pin 1 manual to 1 helper.

I started my helper manuals by sitting down and listing what are my REQUIRED tasks -- yung hindi puedeng hindi gagawin in a day.  Then I thought these out in terms of time requirement --  how much time it will require (how many people) and when the task must be done (so you separate those that are time-sensitive such as for ex. meal prep from those that can be done at any time -- ex. clean the kitchen cabinets).

The pics in the  manuals are those of
Daily uniforms and party uniforms.  (Ex. these remind whoever should wear aprons not to forget these.   ....   (No, dears, my helpers do not wear caps.  And FYI, I am less OC than some of my friends who -- well, if the food served at their parties is Japanese -- their helpers wear kimono-inspired tops;  if Filipino -- naku, eh naka kimona't plaid skirts, or the male version thereof.  LOL)
Specific task arrangements -- like for the Main Cook --  how I want our tableware arranged for our daily meals, etc. etc.
For the Cleaners -- depending on what is in their area of responsibility -- I have pics for how the decor on the tables should appear (I change the pix when I change the decor) --  kasi ayokong basta binalik lang nila tapos na.  I hate most when they decide to decorate themselves and rearrange my stuff -- yan galit na galit ako.   :D
For the cleaners -- I have a pic of how their cleaning basket (those plastic trays with compartments and a handle you see everywhere --  should look like -- it shows what the cleaning supplies therein should be like Pledge, Lysol Cleaner, etc. -- makikita kasi sa pix ang korte ng mga supplies -- and well, helpers are more "visual" than "literary" -- IMO)
Another example of a pix -- my Guest Room kasi has that "accordion type" of pull-out sofa bed.  So,  when I have visitors -- I want the linens on the bed fixed a certain way.  So may pix yan -- the Cleaner just follows -- and I just check later on.  There are also things brought out when there are guests like a luggage rack, a standing table mirror, etc etc  -- those little things to make a guest feel at home.  Pag may pics -- 98% perfecft na by the time I check.  :)
Nga pala,  in each manual -- I have pics of how I want the contents of each cabinet/drawer for which the helper is responsible for -- fixed.  Ayoko ng basta sinasaksak ang gamit kung saan magkasya.  It is a form of discipline -- return things where they belong.  It is a regular way of cutting back on clutter too.

No 2 households will have the same exact manual -- it all depends on one's priorities and availability of time and/or help.  Mga Sis, it does not mean that the more helpers you have the better.  What is critical is that your helpers think and have initiative, and want to learn.  Pag matigas ang ulo, kelangan dakdakin pa,  ayaw matuto -- hay change that helper -- coz wrinkles and high BP are costlier to manage.   :D

I like manuals coz, once you explain it to a helper and wala na syang tanong -- both of you are confident naintindihan nya --  it cuts back on friction between the 2 of you.   It makes it clear to her what your expectations are -- and she can be more productive with her time that way.

This is funny but,  without the uniform pictures -- eh 1 uniform lang naman lahat yan, except for the yaya -- and the cooks just wear aprons -- naku you will see so many "interpretations".   Meron dyan tiklop pa the short sleeves to make it what -- puffed sleeves?  LOL.  Meron dyan open the top buttons to the waist tapos may suot na spags or tshirt inside -- LOL!   With pictures,  pag sinabi ko kelangan ganito --  well, hindi na ako kelangan pa make a wacky comment about any fashion creativity -- eh baka masaktan pa sensitivities nila.   :)

Sis AVE --   The PLASTIC SHOE CONTAINERS/BOXES  with small holes at the sides -- are made of some lightweight acrylic or hard plastic na very clear.  If you drop these -- these will surely crack.

Magandang tignan.  But if your shoe box has a designer label -- LOL, that will look a lot better.

I got mine from Robinson's Galleria at the houseware dept.  But hard to explain where located exactly coz it was at 1 back wall with all those plastic kitchen containers on shelves.  (Magulo layout nila di ba).  Now, I recently saw them again at Rustan's 4th Flr - Shangrila houseware section --  piled up across those spill-proof Lock & Lock (??) plastic bottles.

KIDS -- mga Sis, I do not have a manual for them.  LOL
Just love them to death, and do what is in their best interests.

But I do have a schedule for each kid.
And, a target timetable.
As in --  I monitor the personal habits of the kids.
Hindi ba dapat kasi palakihin ng maayos, malinis at mindful ang bata.
It is not enough that they are intellectually developed -- kelangan madevelop din emotionally and they should also learn along the way the practical skills for leading an orderly life.

Teka ha, lest we misunderstand each other mga Sis  :)  --
My household manuals and systems (for me) exist as  non-negotiable guides for household staff.  As in kelangan ito magawa sa ganitong time sa ganitong manner with ganitong outcome.  What is in the manuals are not "deals" nor requests -- but well, orders -  plain and simple. Imbes na dumadada ako until mabingi tayo -- eh, basahin mo na lang.

My manuals and systems allow me to significantly decrease the time I need to expend on my household staff and home requirements/duties.
That way,  my home time is spent almost 95% being a Nurturing Mother & a Geisha Wife; kesa naman as an over-educated Mayordoma or Property Custodian with an MBA degree.  Ngek! how pathetic.

Kaya may manuals and systems din (even if I had no helper and just stayed in a studio unit) --  is so that I do not fill up my brains/memory with trivial stuff.  Parang may USB di ba -- to free one up for the more important role of being a business/career woman,  a wife &/or mother.

Basta, simple or complex -- kelangan mukhang "effortless". An effective home manager is never tight-ass*d/chronically stressed-out.   If your house is less than perfect -- let it slide.   Life is short na nga, it is more important to enjoy it.

Wow! Sis Aquacharly, naintriga naman ako kung how orderly na ng house nyo....fan mo ako! How I wish magawa ko yun! =)

Sis kaya mo yan!
Just focus on what activities you want to happen in your home.  And what your preferences are.
Do not be a Martha Stewart -- na parang may Bible sinusundan vis-a-vis home management.   :)  Truthfully, Sis 1CHOI_KO9 -- can 1 woman have soooo much time for so much ka-artehan?

Do not strive for orderliness per se -- but go for your brand of "live-ablility" kasi it is your unique life that your home should cater to di ba?
Kahit na minimalist or maximalist  your house -- basta type mo ganoong pamumuhay -- you can find a way to impose order on it all.

Remember, your house should serve you and your family; not you slaving for your home and possessions.
(Kaya kung ako pa mag polish the silver flatware -- hwag na, give away na lang -- mag chopsticks na lang ako.  LOL)

KISS nga, Sis    :D

Wow aquacharly, hats off to you!  I wish I can be that organized.  I don't think I can run a household the way you do.  Yan din ang dream ko, magmukhang 5-star hotel ang house ko.  Baka dapat meron ka na training school para sa tulad ko na yan ang malaking frustration. Mag-e-enroll ako.  LOL! ;D

Sis MIGMAXMATT -- target standard ko talaga 5-star hotel (hindi ko na inambition ang 7-star hotel like that in Dubai -- gastos ha!), coz if you will look at your favorite hotel -- you will find out that each area must be functional, hygienic, orderly  and pleasing to the eye -- all at the same time.  So if you have anything that will be an obstacle to these -- eh discard! or change/modify.

Do not get frustrated, Sis -- systematic tiagaan lang yan lahat.
PM me what your greatest frustration is -- I may be able to help you take the 1st step.  (I do not charge consultancy fees.  :)  Eh those who posted about the management of document storage in the home -- did not charge me ha.  Magaling lang kasi ako magpasa ng document storage and handling to my office staff.  :))
