naunahan mo ako.. im about to start a thread about this..

anyway i only know one person na super oc... mom ng ex ko pero super love ko and super idol ko.. kaso di ko kaya maging oc ata.. oc explosive ako... here are some of the stuff i noticed sa kanya not regular from other housewives

*she rearranges her house at least a week
*she always have fresh flowers sa house... plastics are a no- no..
*she changes furniture once in a while.. sometimes she sells it or gives it away... sometimes asian ang theme,, sometimes european,, basta whatever the theme hindi halo halo...
*clothes are hanged according to colors and sleeves (im trying to adapt this.. but my hubbie is very impossible)
* uniform lahat ng pinggan, her favorite color is white... patterned lahat
*even spices are in alphabetical order (she got that from me)
* weekly menu is really yummy talaga...and she always find time to man the kitchen kahit super busy siya.
*she cant stand the sight of dirt.. she automatically gets a tissue paper to wipe it off regardless what she is doing

by the way just a note.. not all oc people, malinis.. thats a misnomer...mas madalas lang...

Ako certified OC with my home management.  Siguro kasi when it comes to business -- I am the crisis manager and in charge of financial and admin management --   so kelangan my home management is halos surprise/bulaga-free.  Ayoko na ring kinakausap ng matagal or  madalas ng house staff ko.  Pagod na sa business eh.

I have a lavandera-planchadora, 2 cleaners, 2 cooks (1 cleans the 2 kitchens and the other 1 cleans our bedrooms).  Outsourced services of a pool boy (3x a week); 7-8 gardeners (once per 3 weeks); maintenance technicians, piano tuner, curtain cleaner, chandelier cleaners, etc.

I have rules, lists, scripts, timetables and lots of pictures.
Really certified top-grade OC.

Hindi sa madami akong gamit, but my house is big (type ni hubby. Ako gusto ko condo!)  and I do not want to spend too much time taking care of a house and possessions.

Some examples:

Each house staff has a manual -- no kidding. In Taglish para madali gets.
Nakalagay
Ano ang kanyang daily uniform, uniform pang labas
(if send out for errands, or accompany us/kids)
Working hours (indicated din ang breaktimes.  Except for the
on-board time the others are just guidelines.  Hindi pa naman
ako si Hitler sa bahay.  But mornings must be very organized!)
     List of must-do everyday
                (in chronological order, when relevant/possible)
List of must-do on a weekly, bi-weekly, monthly whatever basis
May pictures pa where appropriate yan ha.
As in ang ayos ng kama per bed -- meron yan.
Ganito, in every comfort room, in every room -- there are pics of the
perfect arrangement for me --  parang walang excuse.

I also have fresh flowers or greens all the time.
I keep pics of  the arrangements I have made for each vase -- kopyahin na lang ng Cleaner ko.

I inventory very systematically what I own/put away.  Picture OC too.
For example,  all my Christmas decor -- how arranged when in proper placement na.  Naka picture lahat, by room, altogether in an album.
May script pa ako which rooms mauna -- so orderly and removal from the bodega.
Pag store away naman,  may listing din.  And each plastic bin has 1 picture -- on 2 sides -- so alam ang contents.  Naka log down din by room and bin# as in Game 1/3; Game 2/3, Game 3/3 -- ibig sabihin the decor inside is for the Game Room and there is a total of 3 bins for that room.    :)  May script din for packing away. I spend little time checking na lang.

OC din ako about meal planning and scheduling.
I have 2-week menus for breakfast and dinner; 2 sets of 2 week menus.  Each 2 week set has 1 recipe (kelangan panlasa namin masunod,  OC ako ha -- na taste test ko na yang mga recipes) with matching grocery and/or palengke ingredient list.  Naka clear book yan.   :)  Every Friday -- the cooks just xerox the ingredient lists for the Sat & Sunday grocery and palengke.

I have a masterlist for all household tasks -- both for my in-house staff and outsourced service.  Mga  maintenance technicians for the kitchen appliances, airconditioners,  chandeliers, piano -- lahat may schedule (kahit na every 6months ang service). Pati pool boy and gardeners.    The secretary does the calling and scheduling for me, and alerts the house staff to expect their arrivals.

My table linens are inventoried too with pictures.  For example,  blue tablecloth with matching runners, skirts, napkins -- all appear in 1 picture with the no. of each printed big on paper.  So in 1 picture I can see for example -- the blue tableclothes are 6, napkins are 36, etc.  Hindi ako nawawalan,  madali for the cleaner/cook to put back after laundry. Pag may party -- I do not forget what I have -- may folder ako with all those table linen.  So alam ko which lang puedeng gamitin depending on the number of tables.  Atchaka,  my flatware ang glassware naka store in multiples of  12'2 or 20's.   Linalabas lang kung ilan kelangan.

My bedlinens per bed are inventoried also.
Each complete set naka list down.  Pagnagchange ng sheet -- kelangan lahat baklas kahit na malinis pa say the flat sheet.  Pag turnover to the lavandera -- the cleaner lists it down item by item and sign si lavandera.  Pagbalik --kelangan set --  ayokong may nakalimutan kahit 1 pillowcase lang --  so the cleaner checks item by item and signs received on what date.  Eto pa true confession -- pa embroider ko discreetly at the bottom right corner of each bed linen the bed it belongs to and the set.  Ex. GR/3.  Ibig sabihin Guest Room, part of Set#3.

Pag nagpa service ako ng curtain cleaning -- pag pull-out,  picture uli as pagkakabit ng curtains before dismantling.  Sign ang service sa likod ng pics.

Basta lahat as in lahat may pic and inventory.
Naka computer -- pinapasa ko some lists to my secretary.

Ano pa?  I also have pics of what is inside what in each room.
As in my formal dining -- may buffet table.  Naka pic what is in each cabinet or drawer.  I print out pics to put in each cabinet or drawer -- para alam ng cook ko what goes back where.

I have pics of table arrangements.  Kasi maiinis ka kung minsan balibaliktad ang knife, etc. may kulang.  1 pic each for daily meals, formal dinners, merienda, etc. etc.  May codigo ika nga.

Basta lahat may inventory, may pic malamang (not all naman eh); lahat may schedule and script.    Madami akong lists with matching pics in clear books for my house staff's reference.  Pati kung ano ang cleaning tools and supplies na nasa cleaning basket tray ng 2 kong cleanrs may pic.  Nakapost sa utility room for reference.  My cooks naman have their own equipment listing and pics too.  May mas OC pa kaya dyan?

Nasusunod ba ako?  Oh yes!  Kasi I follow that classic management style: KISS  (keep it simple, stupid -- yan talaga ang phraseology, no kidding).

I take pride that my helpers all co-exist peacefully, walang turuan, walang sisihan.  I also do not need to raise my voice nor make kulit nor loose my temper.  I treat my house staff professionally and I have not been disappointed often.  My biggest pride is that my house is like a 5-star hotel 24/7 -- kahit na may earthquake, there is a flu epidemic in my house, or my husband misbehaves.  The best thing -- I spend minimal time auditing the house staff's work.  I do not need to scream or raise my voice to maintain my high standards.

The greatest compliment I have gotten is from my MIL who told her daughters (who are older than me LOL)  that they should run their lives like I do mine coz nobody beats me daw when it comes to home and kid management.

(Ang mga binaggit ko eh just some of my pagka OC sa bahay.
Marami pang iba.
That is how I de-stress -- thinking of ways to simplify a complicated and very busy life for myself and people who make my life beautiful.)

^idol ka talaga aquacharly.

i'm yet to meet an OC personally.

Ave,

Korek ka dyan, lucy torres-gomez claims she's an OC, pero her house especially their bedroom and workplace is not my initial perception of an OC wife. magulo tingnan their bedroom even though naka organize ang mga gamit

HI, LELILA -- if you meet an OC like me -- you will surely have fun.

I am a fun person coz I have time to have fun and laugh.
Kasi I strive to lead an orderly life.
Kung puede mo ipasa ang responsibility for some part of that orderly life -- do so.  Kadalasan kelangan lang maintindihan nila your expectations and their responsibilities,  and gets nila what it will take to deliver such to you.   :)

The less surprises you have in your daily living -- the better.  Kasi as I tell my teenage nieces -- you will have more time to flirt, dance and drink, and to work on your dreams/goals. You do not waste time attending to simple tasks,  and small stuff will not upset the smooth run of your day.

I forgot to point out -- another objective of being OC with my home management style -- eh to make this fine living look effortless.  Kelangan mukhang naka vacation ako in a hotel sa bahay ko.  Sometimes, I get carried away so galing ng trained house staff ko eh kamuntik na ako mag iwan ng tip. Just kidding, LOL.

You know, Sis,  pagdating namin separately sa bahay -- before or after dinner, may oras pa kami ni hubby to together sip wine by the pool, and flirt.  May energy and goodwill pa ako.   :)  Kaya siguro when he misbehaves and I tell him hwag na sya umuwi ever -- uuwi pa rin.

Okay naman kami dito kasi mga maids lahat naka mani pedi (ako kung minsan no time to go to the salon);  nag facials din sila kasi kapuputi na ngayon mga face!  The Tagalog DVDs na my sister drops off (ilang beses ko panood A Love Story LOL)  -- they watch ahead of me sa service kitchen nila.  Tapos they will tell me which is a good one.

If I were living in a condo -- dream ko!  imagine the sunrises and sunsets!  Wow, heaven.  Well, pa lavandera and plancha lang ako. No maid -- okay na rin. I will still be OC with my lists, scripts and pics.  And I will still manage my home by the mgt principle of KISS, kahit ako lang mag-isa ang "Keep it simple, Stupid".    ;D

Wow aquacharly, hats off to you!  I wish I can be that organized.  I don't think I can run a household the way you do.  Yan din ang dream ko, magmukhang 5-star hotel ang house ko.  Baka dapat meron ka na training school para sa tulad ko na yan ang malaking frustration. Mag-e-enroll ako.  LOL! ;D

kaiz... weve got about more than 30-50 spices like.. nutmeg.. cinnamon, saffron... etc... they are stacked in the spice cabinet in alphabetical order that way i dont have to rummage everything.. say i like tarragon.. i will find that on the left side third row...

get the picture?

I was oc once with my shoes... i bought some shoe boxes.. same sizes... all uniformed... then i put one shoe per box... tapos before stacking them... theres a picture at the side... i printed it myself.. that way... alam ko whats actually inside the box.. i dont have to open it.... I love that.. kaso my mistake... i was so confident with the system some were not open for a year.. later ko na nalaman that you really have to peridiocally give it some air....

siguro oc ako in the sense that i write everything down.. as in everything that comes in to my mind...to do... to buy... to research... to call... thats why i hate it when my hubbie peeks on my stuff... its like getting inside my mind.

I'm far from being an OC. For me it's not something to be proud of. Monica in Friends was portrayed as funny because she was a character in a comedy sitcom... but imagine living with someone that uptight!

I keep my life fairly organized and neat but I'm overall chillax lang.

ALEXANDREA -- LOL,  the practice in this forum appears to be the loose/non-literal use of terms, as BAG SNOB pointed out in another thread.

This use of the OC term, as started by Sis AVESORIANO,  is likewise not-literally used in this thread.  OC as in perhaps,  having a keen interest in something, such as systems and orderliness in addressing home management.  I don't think we literally took it as per the psycho definition of Obsessive Compulsiveness.  BTW, 1 trait of OCs is being close-minded (1 reason it is hard to treat them).  Well, some of us "OCs" here are far from being that since we share and learn from each other.

Being tight-assed is not a function of being OC.  One can be either an OC or tight-assed (& pathetically funny) or both.  I am "figurative OC" with regards to my home management, because, like the  others here -- we strive to minimize sweating over small stuff.   I reiterate that the objective is to make it appear all effortless, very relaxed; so as not to be "tight-assed" or LOL  "anal-retentive".

AVESORIANO, Sis -- yes, alphabetical arrangement of spice bottles facilitates in locating them when we use them.  I do not have as much as you have, but these are alphabetically lined up too.   :)

Sis AVE,  have you seen the plastic boxes for shoes sold in Rustan's or Robinson's?  These come in 3 sizes -- shallow for flats, medium for highheels; and the bigger 1 for male shoes.  These have holes at the sides.  Do you think the problem of molds and leather stiffening will be solved by the holes?  Maganda lang with the boxes -- you see right away what's inside -- pero baka masakit sa ulo ano -- baka magmukhang dept store display?  My infrequently-used shoes are stored like yours now -- boxed wth colored pics.   :)

And sa mga Sis who appreciate my taking pictures -- try it.  You will find out that it makes life easier for you.  Show-and-get most of the time with your helpers.  My cleaner is able to by herself, order the flowers and greens we need weekly -- and because of the pics -- she is able to make the regular arrangements.  Actually, she impresses me at times!  :)

My advice to those who wish to improve their home management systems -- take a hard look at what your family lifestyle/practice/habits are.  No 2 homes will ever be the same.  But each house, no matter the size and location -- can be  always clean, organized and a sanctuary.

1 tip ko lang sa inyo, mga Sis -- when setting up a system,  simple or complex,  always have function as the 1st criteria.  The system should be convenient and integrates into what your family's habits/nakasanayan na.

Naku ha, mga Sis -- life is short.  The house and stuff we own should serve us, not us slaving for our homes.  :)

God bless!

^Aquacharly  - you are a certified OC! I agree with our sis here, ou should write a book. grabe! I think you are OCier than the Executive Housekeepers of 5-star hotels. Maybe you should give them a seminar. They will really learn a lot from you. I did, but my house is not as big as yours. (I live in a 3BR -Condo) By the looks of my house, it's still very cluttered and unorganized especially with a 5-year old being the prime suspect for all the clutter aroung the house. Galing galing! :)

Can you give us a pic of some of your manuals? :)
