Chinese Schools (preschool,primary and HS)

On the average, a Judenite has 2 to 3 home works for English and one Chinese daily. Light assignments, sometimes none for Saturdays. The key is pacing your studies and be attentive in class.

I heard from other parents who send their kids to ICA that the Xavier curriculum is better than ICA's.

The Chinese curriculum of ICA and Xavier is simple not as complex and comprehensive like SJCS.

Hi, I know that almost all school have adopted to the K+12 educational system. I'm wondering how different school have adjusted or tackled their curriculum for this system?

I know many school adopted to bridge program, does it mean there's bridging for every school year then on or just for one year?

I can only speak for SJCS ( Saint Jude Catholic School), they have implemented a "bridging program" in the summer of 2011-2012, it means they had a curriculum inventory: "They took supplementary lessons to make their curriculum up to par with the K-12 program of the DepEd." Other schools like: ICA, Xavier, La Salle Greenhills etc. have just "renamed" their levels, which may pose a problem because by 2016 no college would entertain a student who did not go through the proper K-12 program.

^ Thanks for the info Dwight. In St Jude, is the "bridging program" a 1 time implementation? Or is it continuous for succeeding student years?

Problem with this K-12 is it's too half-baked, the DepEd don't even have a proper IRR for this, and left schools to their own devices.

Yes it's a one time implementation. St. Jude's Math, English and Science are ahead of other schools, but they are behind with Hekasi ( Social Studies ) and Filipino according to the administrators during that time. During the "bridging program" , they taught what they were behind plus added some supplementary lessons in Math, English and Science.

I agree with you on the fact that DepEd has implemented the program half-baked and left the schools in limbo, hopefully DepEd could come up with a uniform curriculum.

^It seems each school have their own approach indeed. Sadly many school are using this K-12 thing as a cash cow, charging ridiculous additional tuition for the so called bridging program.

My kids study at St. Gabriel International School (SGIS) in Pasig City.... the teachers are fine and very good. So far, so good... I'm happy cuz my kids are learning Mandarin well and they get to interact with kids of other nationalities like Taiwanese, Koreans, Japanese, Caucasians etc. SGIS' mother school is in Xiamen, i think it's called, Manila-Xiamen University. Medyo affordable ang tuition-- 40K.

There's a Chinese school in Banawe, QC named Light Christian Academy. It's transferring this coming sch year to Caloocan....

Grace is good with Science as evidenced by their constant victories in robotics.  Not heard so much about Jubilee recently.

My son just turned 3 last month and we're scouting for a school. 1st time schooler and nobody in the family can speak Chinese. Any advise or suggestion?

I suggest your kid speak the language with the person who is teaching him, otherwise he will forget what he will learn. More so that no members of the family speaks the language. He must be comfortable conversing it in order to have fluency. I would also suggest that the parent learn a few basic conversation in order to converse with your kid.

Hello everyone. Any recent feedback about Makati Hope in Pasong Tamo? It's quite a low key school, as far as feedback in online forums is concerned. Not sure if that's a good thing or not with regards to the quality of education they give. Any info is much appreciated. We're planning to enroll our daughter there for preschool next year.
