very inspiring. eto dahilan kaya ayaw ako payagan parents ko na mag work.. sabi mag business na lang ako kasi mas malaki kikitain ko... lumaki rin kasi ako sa business world..since my parents are business minded talaga.. ako lang matigas ulo.. gusto maging empleyado sa manila.. haha.

My parents are both government employees, i respect them, they are both workaholic and been able to send us all 5 children to college, mejo hikahos lang,mas matagal ang asenso..

The man I married and his parents were into business, sugal naman ang negosyo, mas pressured..
i notice the difference between being employed and being businessman,

natutuwa ako kapag nakakabasa ako ng mga employees and at the same time entrepreneur....meaning hindi lang umaasa sa suweldo. ang galing!

Well my father used to come from a poor family.  He came to Manila to study and work.  He was able to send us all to exclusive schools.  And we live comfortably.  We live in an exclusive village now, and we travel at least once a year.  I'm very proud of my parents.

Glad I found this thread…so inspiring!  I wanna share also my friend’s story.  Although hindi pa sya sobrang mayaman pero I’m already proud of her because of what she has achieved considering that she came from a poor family.

She’s from far north province, then UP came to their province to look for poor but deserving students para mabigyan ng scholarship. She was able to graduate from UP with Masteral degree.  Then she got a good job, she was able to send all her siblings to school. Pati pamangkin nya pinagaaral nya. Three of them studied from metro manila private schools. She was able to buy a house and lot in Pasig. She was able to travel most countries in Asia and also US. New Zealand is next on her list nilindol lang kaya na-postpone. All these she was able to do by being an employee lang.  She’s in her mid 30s now.  Yung pagbbusiness ang hindi pa nattry.

Mga sis & bro you might want to read yung story ni Hernando M. Vitas. Actually I don't know him but found his book and read it.

From rags to riches yung story niya and very inspiring talaga. He's a self-made entrepreneur. Dami ka matutunan sa story niya.

As an entrepreneur may mga down moments tayo but kapag naalala ko yung mga hardships niya naiisip ko na lang mas mahirap pa nga yung ginawa niya but still nakayanan niya. Binabasa-basa ko ulit yung book niya until now

Ito yung eight values na mentioned sa book niya that we need to inculcate in us as we venture to business:

Courage in the spirit

Leadership in the blood

Ambition in the mind

Persistence in body and action

Honesty in the soul

Discipline in the will

Here's my dad's story.

My dad came from a poor family in a province in MIndanao. 13 silang magkakapatid.  While studying, he was also working to support his family.  He was able to graduate from college with latin honors.  Pumunta sya dito sa Manila to look for work. He was hired as an accountant for a private company.  Tapos naging Finance Manager sya ng isang malaking company sa Ph. 

May entrepreneurial spirit ang father ko so he and his officemate decided to start their own business.  They put up a small resto sa may QC.  Lumaki sya hanggang nagkaroon ng 13 branches yung resto namin.  My dad was very hands-on sa business talaga, something I learned from him.  Unfortunately, sa sobrang bait ng father ko, marami ang nanloko sa kanya. Maraming business syang pinasok na nag-fail because he trusted his "friends" too much.  Sadly, he was killed almost two years ago because of a business-related matter (that's another story).   Anyway, ang tanging natira sa business namin ay yung aming resto (although 3 branches na lang). Nonetheless, because of my dad's hard work and perseverance, we were (and still are) able to live comfortably.  Self-sustaining yung business namin kaya hindi sya bumagsak when my father died.

My plan is to expand our business, kasi I think my father would have love that.  Siguro ang natutunan ko sa mga nangyari sa father ko is do NOT trust everyone kahit kapamilya mo pa.  As others mentioned as well, maging simple, humble, and most importantly, maging masipag.

good thing may natira pa sa inyo... i have a friend, ganyan din nangyari, although di naman big time yung business nila but good enough para masabing may marangya silang buhay before, mga kamaganak naman nila yung nanloko sa kanila... kaya wala natira sa kanila kung di yung bahay nila tapos ang masama pa nito sya yung di nakatapos at yung mga kapatid ng mama nya yung magaganda ang buhay at nakapagtapos ang mga anak na nagloko sa kanila... may mga karma din yang mga yan...

@marish and @aceofhearts Thanks mga sis!   Hirap talaga kapag mga kaibigan nanloko. Tama kayo, nakarma na rin kasi mga nanloko (and pumatay) sa father ko.  Kaya for now, mom and sister ko lang muna ang kasama ko sa business.  Plus, when my dad died, I realized na super thankful ako na may business kami.  That's why I want to put up a business rin kasi para kapag nagkapamilya ako, hindi maghihirap ang pamilya ko.  Sis ace, if you ever pass by Retiro, let me know, lol.

year 1993, pagka graduate ko sa college nag work ako sa telephone company. yung 3months na sahod ko binili ko nang computer, printer at nagtayo ng maliit na internet cafe...

It will always BE competitive, or if it's not competitive, it's probably
not profitable.

If it's competitive, you need to figure out why people need you in
your specific industry
