For new immigrants, what are the tax incentives or refunds I should be able to get when I file my Income Tax next year?
I just arrived March 2009 as a resident, am also single and have an IT job which started last May. Is there anything I refund in my income tax for next year?

I guess it would depend in which province you will  be staying..... For [textspeak!] they said 40k is enough though but i'm just not too sure with the high cost of living.

@yang I think so. Mahal kaya pa-root canal dito. Pag sa regular dentist ka nagpa-RCT, pinakamababa na yung $400/canal tapos pag endodontist $700. Minimum yun ah tsaka RCT lang talaga, hindi pa kasama yung filling, etc. Hindi ko lang sure sa mga dentist pero kase pag doctor/nurse kailangan pang mag-aral at magtake ng exam bago makapag-practice.

@luckypal Tinanong ko pala sa kabilang thread kung may co-op yung kukunin mo. Makakatulong sya pero it's not an assurance. At least may experience ka na. Galingan mo na lang para kunin ka na dun.

Madami kang makukuha (di ko lang ma-specify hehe, gumamit lang kase kami ng software pang-compute ng tax para di mahirap) lalo na kung maliit yung sweldo mo. Ako nga na walang work may nakuha eh.  Wag mong kalimutang mag-file ng GST/HST. Sayang din yun.

@brevity Family ba kayo? Kase kung isa lang may work sobrang liit non pero kung mag-isa ka lang pwede na din. Halos wala nga lang savings.

hellow,.. im posting this for my brother. may future ba ang mga dentist dyan? he specialized on endodontics (root canal theraphy) any job vacancies? TIA

of course may future ang dentists dito. But kailangan muna nya magtake ng exams for national dental board and provincial dental board. yung exam na ito will be your entrance exam to go to a university. Then magaaral sha ng 2 to 3 yrs depende sa province, tapos magtitake ulit sha ng national dental board and provincial dental board. In my case, dentist din ako sa atin. I'm a dental assistant now dito sa montreal, but i'm studying some courses at the same time para makapagaral ako ng dental hygiene.

I'm not sure about march pero yung april-june ang sure akong pwede mong makuha. Ang alam ko pwede ka na rin namang mag-file kase kami dati nung pagdating namin pinagpa-file na kami, hindi lang namin ginawa.  Sinend namin yung application nung April (halos sabay ng income tax) tapos mga 3 weeks ago nakuha na namin.

Kung next year mo pa ipa-file, okay lang din kase yung nasa application naman 2 years so makukuha mo pareho yung pang 2008-2009 (April-June) tsaka 2009-2010.

as of now meron lagn 38 shortlisted jobs for Skilled Worker, sana kasama dito yung line of work mo.... from there may self assessment test para sure na qualified.
Dati kasi aabutin ng 5-6 years ang application pero under the new rule 2 years na lang...
As for how much ang magagastos, depende kung ilan kayo sa family...

Qualified naman kami pareho ni hubby as Skilled Worker, as per the link you gave me.
Nag browse-browse na din ako.

Naisip ko lang, wala pa kami masyado ipon since we're a young couple palang with a toddler, tapos these days ang hirap mag-ipon, shucks!
Kaya need to know sana how much ang needed budget kung mag-aapply kami, sayang naman kasi... para makapag-start na mag save.

I hope our other sisters here makapag share how much (roughly) ang nagastos nila pag immigrate papuntang Canada.

hi sis abby2007, are you  sure na 2 years na lang processing ng application ng FSW now. Kasi if that is the case, iwiwidraw ko application namin and mag aaply kami under the new laws. Qualified naman kami both ni hubby na mag apply as principal immigrants. Thanks.

yes, Im in IT been working as a systems admin lead sa pinas, then i got an IT analyst job here in vancouver.Nagkataon lang siguro mejo same nature ng work ko and Prayers talga! although hindi lead position pero for a start lang talga. I guess sabi nila mas madali narin if you have a canadian experience

pano kung nabigyan na ng LMO at contract tapos biglang sumablay sa visa kasi na-refuse? possible ba na magre-apply ng visa using yun existing LMO at contract or automatic cancelled/invalid na agad yun LMO at contract?

makikita ba sis sa LMO at contract yun validity date? kasi ang ginawa ng friend ko e apply sa ibang agency pero Canada pa rin. naghihintay sya ngayon ng panibagong LMO at contract nya dun. pero yun nga may nakapagsabi sa kanya na baka pwede pa yun lumang LMO at contract nya.

nagtataka nga rin kami bat sya nadeny agad e yun medical nya hindi pa lumalabas at na forward sa embassy that time. ano yun posibleng nainip yun embassy sa case nya?

di pa sila nakakaalis ulit sis..di pa ata tinatawagan ulit ng embassy, yung isa tinawagan pero may tinanong lang ata sa LMO..


di ko na matandaan kung meron sa LMO at contract sis pero minsan yung Embassy nagvverify sa employer if they are still needed specially now na may recession..

in my case sis, yung clinic mismo ang nagforward ng result sa embassy so ang alam ko they won't let you know unless there is something wrong...pwedeng nareceive na ng embassy yung results nya and saw something inconsistent sa papers nya kaya na deny sya..i'm speaking from observation and experience sis, other sisses if you have other inputs please help out sis lakwatsa..2 months pa rin lang kasi ako dito Canada..thanks!
