Masungit yung lalakeng nag-interview sa akin, he was really determined not to give me a visa. But I insisted na magbigay sya ng examples ng documents that will satisfy his requirement. Ayaw mabigay, kesyo I have to be creative daw...buset! Nagbigay din sa bandang huli dahil siguro alam nyang di ako aalis unless he gave me what I want. Alam mo kung ano hiningi? Health insurance document where my both and my husband name appears. Nevermind the house and money I will leave behind in case I decided to stay permanently in the US because my health insurance will make me think twice if I ever decide to overstay. What an *diot!

hi mga sis...i have read this thread and the other one which also discusses about Canada since i am planning to migrate there also.

i am thinking about applying as immigrant and finding and agency which can provide me a job and work permit.  which do you think is more advisable?  if i enter canada on work permit would it still be possible for me apply for residency?

so... ask lang ako some information...

hinahanap naming job sana ay designer or graphic artist.

I've only been living in Canada for a little over 2 months, so baka wala pa ko masyadong experience talaga. But let me quote some stuff from the site and comment on them...

Quote
8. Discriminatory and Dishonest Immigration System.
Immigration to Canada is based on a point system, obtained with your education, qualifications and job experience. Points are good enough for immigration, but in Canada, they are not good enough to get a job in your field. Amazing, how the credentials that qualify you to come to Canada are the same credentials that don't qualify you for your profession in Canada. The reason is, Canada only wants immigrants to do the labor jobs - pizza delivery, driving taxis, factory work etc.

I'm actually okay with the point system. The thing is, the country still has to look after its own improvement, so I have no problems if they have standards. There is some truth to what they say - but then ganun din naman in most other countries, we always hear of local doctors-turned-janitors abroad. And truthfully, most of the migrants are doing the manual labor jobs, but there are also Caucasians who do them. The problem with the statement is that it's generalizing. My cousin finished a Civil Engineering degree in the Philippines and two months after he moved here, he got a job at a well-known construction company. It's a case to case basis, I think. Some are lucky, some aren't.

Quote
7. Out Of Control Cost Of Living.
From rent, to utility bills, to shopping, to phone, internet and cable bills, to gas, to car insurance, to eating out, to basically anything you have to pay for or buy, the cost of living in Canada has become astronomical. Recent immigrants are astonished as to how expensive everything is. It is estimated that compared to most countries around the world, the cost of living in Canada is on average five times greater.

I do agree that right now, it is very expensive. LOL. Mas mura pa ngayon a lot of stuff sa US. But we still get by anyway.

Quote
6. Health Care Crisis.
Practicing physicians in Canada are in a shortage, 1 in 4 Canadians cannot get a family doctor. Canadian doctors are leaving to move permanently to the United States. Statistics Canada and the Canadian Medical Association both have identified that for every 1 American doctor that moves to Canada, 19 (nineteen) Canadian doctors move to the United States! Doctors in Canada are overworked and underpaid, and there is a cap on their salaries.

I have no idea about this. Though I'm very much aware and grateful for the free health care, which is enough for me. ???

Quote
5. Very High Taxes.
Yes, you have the GST, the PST, totaling 15%, on practically everything you purchase and many other taxes taken out of our weekly paycheck. You have to pay a whopping amount to the government, out of your hard earned salary, so that the government can turn around and give it to beer drinking, hockey watching welfare bums. Fair? It does not matter, it's Canada.

LOL. But true, naloloka din ako sa taxes. At medyo naguguluhan ako palagi kasi yung posted prices of items do not include taxes pa. Kaya napapamahal tuloy yung feeling ko.  :o

Quote
4. Money Hungry Government.
Canadian Embassies around the world lie to foreigners, painting this picture that Canada is Utopia, because they want them to come to Canada. Why? Because foreigners bring money! So after being deceived, these foreigners come. They must bring with them at least $10,000. Canada has an immigration quota of 250,000 per year. So please do the math, 250,000 multiplied by $10,000 each equals a whopping 2.5 Billion dollars that Canada gains from immigrants every year.

No clue about this. :D

Quote
3. No Culture.
Unlike almost every other country in the world, Canada has no culture. Actually American culture is what dominates Canada. When was the last time you had some 'Canadian' food? There are no Canadian traditions and there is no national identity. What does it even mean to call yourself a 'Canadian'. . .nothing really. People living in Canada, still identify themselves with the country they 'originally' came from.

This is something I love about Canada! ;D I don't see any problem with the diversity. And I don't care if people identify with the country they came from. Nakakatuwa yung multi-cultural atmosphere. It should make migrants happy that they could easily feel like they belong and that they could be themselves in Canada.

Quote
2. Worst Weather.
Yes, Canada has the worst weather conditions of any country in the world. Freezing cold temperatures, snow, ice, hail, winds, storms etc. From the Prairie provinces to the Maritimes, from the Territories to southern Ontario, the weather is so horrific and disgusting that many Canadians leave Canada simply because of this reason alone.

LOL. Well, I have to agree with this. I hate the weather! It's always so cold and always drizzling. But then again, I've always loved the tropical weather kaya di talaga ko sanay.

Quote
1. No Jobs.
Yes, coast to coast, there are no jobs. Immigrants are highly qualified (MD's, PhD's, Lawyers, Engineers etc.) but they are driving taxi cabs, delivering pizza's or working in factories. Even people with bachelors degrees from Canadian Universities cannot find jobs after graduation. This is the tragedy associated with immigration to Canada. I feel sorry for those immigrants who are stuck in Canada for the rest of their lives. It is indeed a very sad and hopeless future.

Who are they kidding? There are plenty of jobs here! Kung di ka mapili, madami talaga. And honestly, you'll have to accept that when you first move here, you're a second class citizen and that companies will always prioritize some Canadian work experience. There's no disgrace in starting at the bottom of the ladder and working your way up. Get some experience and then move on. As long as people are willing to work towards a goal, they can achieve it. My uncle, who had a Electrical Engineering degree from Mapua, worked odd jobs during his first year here - salesman, dishwasher, restaurant crew - and at the same time, took some courses at night. He then applied to an Electrical company, and they trained him and sent him to school (for free) to get his Masters degree. And now he's quite successful with the company.

I'm not advertising Canada. Truthfully, there are times I hate it. (Especially the weather!) What I like about here is how easy-going people could be and also the diversity. Sure, there are still some who may have racist tendencies, but sa totoo lang, parang mas madaming Asians or Indians kesa Caucasians sa Canada. I like meeting people from other cultures.

But as with every other migrant, you have to be prepared for the hardships and to make sacrifices to obtain your goal. Hindi instant ang pag-unlad. People don't have to work as janitors forever, they can move on to something else if they really work hard for it. ;)
