update ulit kita ah, i-test ko ang unit ko.. so far, i've been online now for 2 hours pero hindi naman mainit..

i need to get something/anything from dell kaya now i'm contemplating on getting the dell mini with ubuntu i have no idea what ubuntu is but kasi i need to make a purchase so far ito yung specs

quiksilver_19: well, black isn't always the standard laptop color. it took apple several years to come up with one, for example.

now, regarding the whole black vs. white thing, perhaps they're made of two different materials? apple supposedly did that for two of its macbook versions.

^sensya na po....mostly kasi nung bata (1980's)ako karamihan black/gray kaya ko nasabi na yun ang standard hehe...nakikita ko kasi noon dala ng mga businessman or office workers black then soon came after pati mga students laptop na din...kaya ngayon dami ng colors na available.

if you're not familiar with ubuntu, i suggest get it with the xp home. If you're open to a bigger mini naman Dell mini 12 is out

^uy, yeah thanks. my ever-impulsive self finally made a last minute purchase and got the mini9 with xp.  ubuntu was so tempting talaga coz of the price diff, but for scaredy cats like me, unchartered territory talaga ang ubuntu and the sales guy said not all programs work on ubuntu. however, ubuntu does have its own appealing qualities talaga...ndi lang ako techy kasi.

duno lang din kung may problema uninstalling xp on the mini9 and replacing it with ubuntu.  i read one guy did that. when he wanted xp back, ubuntu couldn't be uninstalled na. also, mini9s with ubuntu no longer have partition problems with the new minis being shipped out.

i read up on the mini12 din and was thinking about getting this instead of the 9in. but it runs on vista only. no xp options and  no ram upgrade. from what i've learned kasi mas maaappreciate ang vistawith atleast 2gb of ram (tama ba ram?), anything less makes the whole vista experience sluggish.

boot up time with the mini12  is around 2-3mins na with vista, so i read. this seems kinda slow. i think most netbooks boot up less than a minute, mga  45/50+ secs and kung impatient ka  medyo frustrating na rin yun i think. i'm just biased and old school with xp lang siguro.

for those on the hunt na rin hp came out with cool designs haha ang babaw ba, far better than how the printed ones dell came out with  hp looks really sexy and stylish. hp has their mini note upgradable to 120gb hhd  whereas dell is offering the mini9 in 32gb ssd na (mas ok ba ang ssd kesa sa hhd? I'm thinking yes?) but anyway,  the options are there.

looks like the keys on the hp are betterfixed than dell's (walang f12 ang dell and some keys are positioned awkwardly, that i have to find out, and with hp's keyboard setting  we can't really say how cramped the keys would be.

onga pala,  also i saw at one store, duno kung asus yun or hp, one of the minis had a celeron m processor installed instead of atom. i'm celeron averse, so i'm thinking that since mac uses the atom,  does this make it a more stable machine instead of any netbook with a celeron processor? or celeron being low-end (in my opinion) is good enough for netbooks or mini's?

pasensya na kung feeling nag review ako ng dell mini's at kung feeling ko na may alam ako,  for the spirit of sharing the info i picked up lang. baka sakali makatulong. correct me nalang kung may mali.
