something from the net ;)

Chicken Corn Soup

Ingredients
1 (4- to 5-pound) chicken, cut into 8 pieces
2-1/2 to 3 quarts water, or as needed
1 large onion
8 to 10 black peppercorns
2 teaspoons salt, or to taste
8 to 10 threads of saffron, or 1/4 teaspoon crushed saffron (optional)
10 ears of corn, or 4 cups frozen corn kernels
3 celery stalks, diced with leaves
6 ounces wide egg noodles, packaged egg barley, or Rivels (recipe follows)
Freshly ground white pepper
2/3 cup finely chopped fresh parsley
2 hard-cooked eggs, chopped

Instructions
Place chicken in soup pot with enough water to cover. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and skim foam as it rises to the surface. When it has subsided, add onion, peppercorns, salt, and saffron. Simmer gently but steadily, partly covered, for about 1-1/2 hours or until tender.

Remove chicken. Trim and discard bones and skin, and onion. Let soup cool, then skim fat from surface. Tear meat into spoonable pieces and return to soup.

Cut kernels from 4 ears of corn, then grate kernels from remaining 6 ears, catching all milk and pulp on foil or waxed paper. If using frozen kernels, puree half in a food processor or blender, adding a little soup if liquid is needed. Add whole kernels and grated or pureed corn to soup along with celery and noodles, barley, or rivels. Simmer gently until corn and noodles or rivels are cooked. Add salt and white pepper to taste. Stir in parsley and serve, garnishing each portion with chopped egg.

This soup freezes well, but do that before adding the noodles, barley, or dumplings. Prepare those when reheating soup. To prevent scorching during reheating, place the pot over an asbestos mat or on other insulating plate.

Yield: 8 to 10 first-course servings; 4 to 6 main-course servings

Patola con Misua

1 big patola, peeled and sliced
oil
garlic
onion
patis
ground pork
water
misua
salt and pepper to taste

Sautee garlic, onion, patis, and pork in oil. Cook until pork is done. Add patola and water. Bring to a boil. When patola is almost done, dip in the misua and sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste.

Easy, yet healthy and delicious! ;)

yup, masarap yung patola con misua.  but personally, ayoko ng ground pork, may tendency na maging oily kasi.  what i use is tofu, yung usual tofu sa wet market, cut into small squares, slightly fried lang, lagay mo sa isang lalagyan and immediately add marca pina soy sauce, para magkalasa yung tofu.after i-saute' yung onion, garlic, shrimp knorr cube at patola, ilagay mo na yung tofu pero i-drained mo muna [textspeak!] excess soy sauce, then yung misua, water and salt and pepper to taste.  bring to a boil.  do take it easy on the salt, though kasi maalat na yung knorr.

Miso soup madali lang, I learned this recipe from a Heny Sison workshop.

First, get some konbu (dried seaweed), put some konbu strips into a pot of water, let it boil. Take the konbu out.

Then get some miso paste, spoon the paste into a sifter para naka hang lang siya sa water while boiling, hindi pwedeng derecho ilagay sa water. Mix the paste with a spoon while it's inside the sifter.

Finally, get some dried bonito flakes, and add them into the soup. No need to add salt or pepper or anything. Yung mga add ons like tofu, you can add them after putting on the bonito flakes.

You can also cut the konbu you've used and eat it as an appetizer. Cut to slices and season with some Japanese soy sauce. O diba walang sayang?  ;)

buy ham 'bone' from majestic ham or any store that sells ham (adelina's, etc)

boil potatoes, onions, carrots, celery and the ham bone. add some ground pepper and salt (if needed coz the ham bone is already salty). grated cheese is optional. cook soup until potatoes and carrots are super soft them mash them. you can also add sausages or ham bits

Siomai Misua Soup

1/4 chicken giniling(shanghai flavor sa chicken station)
molo wrappers
minced garlic
frozen carrots, corn and peas
chicken stock
dash of knorr seasoning and sesame oil to taste

Place a teaspoon giniling sa molo wrapper the wrap it ala-siomai style. If you want mas maraming siomai then kontian lang ang lagay ng giniling. Set aside.

Saute minced garlic then add frozen vegetables then chicken stock. Bring to boil drop the misua kapag medyo luto na ilagay na isa-isa ang siomai hanggang sa lumutang. Add sesame oil and a dash of knorr  seasoning to taste.
