TICKS! Please Help

I use Frontline drops. Price is P300+ at any pet shop: animal house,petexpress,dogin the city. I drop lang yung liquid sa skin sa batok ng dahan dahan to be sure na hindi masyado kumalat sa hair ng dog. Then allow to dry. No goli muna for 3days.Tapos ang fleas and tick problems. Dapat monthly therapy sya for 3months. 1s a month lang ipatak sa batok. Pero effective sya sa tzu namin kahit 1 lang. Months na ulit bago magrecur ang mga fleas/tick.
Meron din frontline spray at P600+ naman pero hirap ang application. Mas convenient ang drops.
Yung soap nyais anti fleas and tick din. We also got her powder which is very effective sa fleas. Pagkalagay mo ng powder makikita mo magtatalunan paalis. We used it after getting a new dog for my brother na infested w/fleas talaga.

Minimum Dosage: 0.0305ml (per pound)
Maximum Dosage: 0.0593ml (per pound)
Average Dosage: 0.0449ml (per pound)

Where did we get the above dosage?

I will use the recommended dosage for dogs weighing 45-88lbs because this is the pipette that I buy
For example, for dogs weighing 45-88lbs, the recommended dosage is 2.67ml
so 2.67ml / 88lbs. (max. weight of dog) = 0.0303 or just round it off to 0.0305ml
Therefore, a dog only needs 0.0305ml per pound of his body weight (minimal dosage)
or 2.67ml / 45lbs (min. weight) = 0.0593 ml (for the max. dose)

So we're safe to give them a dosage of 0.0305ml-0.0593ml per pound.

Sample computation:
My shih tzu weighs around 11lbs x 0.0449ml (this is for the average dose) = 0.4939ml or 0.5ml

computation for the Minimum dosage:
11lbs. x 0.0305ml = 0.3366ml or 0.35ml

for the Maximum Dosage:
11lbs. x 0.0593ml = 0.65ml

Average dosage lang kami just to be sure

*Kung susundin natin ang nasa packaging, my dog falls on the 0-22lbs category so .67ml dapat sya monthy. But I don't follow this because obviously it's too much for his weight, at liver ang kawawa in the long run.

Hi sis yanchee... i use naman Sleeky Tick and Flea powder. Polbohan mo lang si koki then makikita mo tatalon paalis pulgas. I think mga 2-3days wala na yan. Bathe him wuth bayer anti tick and fkea soap din. Proven ko na sa 3dogs ko :-D

Itchy yung legs ko kanina. Pag tingin ko may FLEA! This is the second time na may flea akong nakita sa house. The first incident was last week.

But the thing is I don't have a dog or any pet in the house right now. Ibig sabihin fleas yun ng neighbors' dogs! Ugh.

The long heat wave here in California must be reason for this.

I will buy Frontline spray para maski paano ma-spray-an ko front and back doors. I dunno if this is will be effective in preventing these hitch hikers from getting into our home.

We have plants and grass in the front and back of the house also. So pwede dun din sila naka tago. Pwede bang lagyan ng flea powder yun? Hehe

 Argh! Napa-paranoid ako. Baka mamya anong sakit meron dala yung mga fleas.

^sis nako yan din ang problema ko. I always find tick(s) on my dog. hindi ko na nga siya inilalabas dahil nagiging over protective mum ako lalo na't nag-uuulan. nagsuspetsa na ako na baka sa dog(s) ng neighbor(s) namin nanggagaling ang ticks then a few days ago may nakita nga akong tick sa labas ng door namin papasok sa unit namin. hays plan ko din bumili ng front line spray para mai-spray sa furnitures etc e. may time pala na dumami "alaga" ng alaga ko nung pinaalagaan ko siya sa isang friend ko, hindi ko naman na sinabi sa kanya ang nangyari kasi nahiya naman ako, ako na nagpaalaga ako pa nagrereklamo.

I gave her the 0.67 ml from the 2.67 ml. using a syringe. How do you do it? Syringe din?

I'll try to avoid using Frontline as much as possible but I'll use this computation next time.

The hartz flea and tick collar did not work. I check her daily halos and l malaki pa nga! I believe my dog got her ticks and fleas from my neighbors. Kasi sa compund ako nakatira and i let her play with them freely. E sila sa labas ng house lang near the gate. My dog lives inside my house naman. Hai. Will buy frontline later.

I read the Dawn Dishwashing liquid kills fleas. I don't know if it is available locally. But I'm inclined to use this next time kesa frontline.

Andaming ticks ngayon ng dog ko! Panahon ba ng ticks ang September/October? My mom thinks my dog got it from our walks around the compound. Do ticks fly? Di ko naman sya pinapalapit masyado sa neighbor dogs. Nakaka guilty naman wag ilabas kasi nabobore din sya. I think kahit nasa gate lang yun dog ko, nalalapitan pa rin ng ticks.

What we're doing is manual removal after rinse with apple cider vinegar solution. Kasi mas lumalabas sila and mas madali makita.

What's been effective for you?

*Frontline skin applicator - Not that effective for us
*Tick spray for dogs - any brand that's proven effective?
*Tick collars - hindi ba delikado pag nilick nila yun fur nila?
*Treatment for the area - I'm thinking diatomaceous earth within our premises

Pacheck mo na sa vet sis. Prone kasi sa skin disease ang pups e baka hindi tick or flea yan. Itetest nila yung skin sa ears. Kukuha sila ng maliit na skin sa ears then test sa microscope. Baka galis or whatnot. If unchecked magfflaky skin nya then makalbo ang hair

hi newbie po dito problema ko din sa tzu ko na 2 months old yung mga ticks and fleas na yan.. i bought diatomaceous earth kaso parang messy ilagay tapos makalat and nagwoworry din kasi ako baka masinghot niya at magcause ng respiratory problem.kaya ayun sayang lang din pagbili ko ng DE nakatambak lang sa house.

Hello. Question: yung shih tzu ko pina-antitick and fleas ko sa grooming salon. Probably it's frontline drops. Anyway, may isa pa kasi kaming dog, shih tzu rin. Sabi nung owner nung grooming salon, wag daw palapitin sa isa pang dog kasi baka mapoison. For three days. Is this true? Bawal sila magplay for three days?

Nakakaawa naman kasi yung two dogs ko kasi kanina pa sila umiiyak, di nila kayang magkalayo.
