i have an acer aspire one 8gb. it was an "upgrade" from the asustek eeepc i got last october 07, with the intention of installing windows os. turns out, super bagal pala ng windows sa 8gb and a lot of technicians i talked to said it's not worth it daw, dapat sa 120gb na lang.

what i do have though, is 30gb external hdd - pwede kaya dun na ako mag boot ng winxp? ok naman kaya ang boot up time nun? has anyone tried this?

The hubby gifted me with an Acer 4730Z.  I thought may bluetooth siya but wala pala.  Also, it doesn't recognize the printer driver for my Canon selphy.  I downloaded the driver for Vista but ayaw pa rin marecognize yung printer.

I think I am having a hard time with the Vista starter that came with the laptop.  I don't want to change OS naman kasi mas mahirap daw maghanap ng drivers.   

So far okay naman.  Mabilis din and for my needs, its more than enough. 

Sis limited lang Vista Starter, mga 2 to 3 programs lang ata ang pwede gamitin dyan. Get Vista Home Premium or Vista lite. Kung sa drivers naman search mo lang sa internet or ask ka ng help dito http://tipidpc.com/viewtopic.php?tid=164225, mga acer 4730z users yan. Ito isa sa mga pinagpipilian ko na lappie but I'm going to opt for Compaq na lang pero super panalo ang webcam ng Acer and hindi shared ang memory nya sa graphics.

^ right. dami restrictions talaga ng vista starter. kaya pinalitan ko yung OS ko into windows xp. i'm lucky kasi yung drivers cd ko has both xp and vista installers.

^  I think I am starting to finally get the hang of Vista (starter).  For my present needs, okay pa naman siya.  I was able to download my selphy driver from the canon website and okay na siya.

As for the bluetooth, I just bought bluetooth usb dongle and vista recognized it without needing to install the cd driver that came with it.

@ gypsygirl13 - don't get the Compaq that has almost the same specs and price as the 4730z (I forgot the model).  May mga bugs daw yun and from the forums, daming complaints about it that's why I ended up with the Acer.

^OT: I'm getting the Compaq Presario CQ40-108TU. I'm aware about the complaints, most of them have problems because they installed Windows XP and also because of the RAM upgrade. I'm planning on installing Vista(lite) 32 bit and upgrade it to 2gig RAM. I prefer kase ang support ng HP in terms of BIOS and driver updates, kahit mga lumang models ng laptops nila may updates pa rin.

bought an acer aspire 4530.ok ang specs. then upgrade the mem to 4GB. panalo to sa gaming dahil sa graphics nvidia geforce 9100m g. kaya si hubby nagpupuyat maglaro ng need for speed undercover. okay na yun, kesa naman ibang babae pagpuyatan. hehe. joke!

i have a problem sa acer ko now.. paanu po ba malalaman if sira na cooling fan nya? and paano po ba sha malilinis? dati kase hinde ko naririnig ang fan nya but now para shang humihingang malalim sa lakas every now and then..not continuously ha...mga every 10 mins ganun hihinga sha... any idea po?

^try feeling the air vent kung may air na lumalabas. If meron the fan is working. By the way the fan isn't always on, it usually turns on when the temp. of your laptop is getting hot so when your using a lot of programs it would turn on from time to time. Cleaning the fan is not advisable lalo na if it's still under warranty, in order to literally clean it you need to open the base of your lappy baka ma-void and warranty if you open it yourself.

help naman. gusto ko sana palitan ng OS [textspeak!] acer aspire 4530 ko. from vista starter to xp pro. pano ko ba gagawin?

simple... if you have bootable XP CD installer ... then... just format your HDD... change the boot sequence from your laptop from c (system drive) to d (CD drive) so it will boot from your Installer and follow all the instructions... ofcourse you must have valid XP Key... wait until the installation is complete...

then.. that's it...

@priftiface... if its still covered with warranty since it's only bought in a year... just take your laptop to the Acer Service Center and present your warranty card and surely they will replace it for free...

I'm currently using Aspire 4920.  Nasira charger ko, siguro sa sobrang gamit, don't know if I'm on the right thread, if not, can you re-direct me who can help me kung san pweding pagawa yung charger ko?  Or san makakabili, LITEON ang gamit ko, if you need specs just let me know.  Thank you.

^just buy a new AC adapter. make sure that your AC adapter's wattage is equal or greater than the wattage of your battery. for example, your battery's 65W, then your AC adapter should be 65W and above.
