China - the usual chinese design kaya parang walang wow factor
Philippines-  very lively ang design
Saudi arabia - parang malaking soup bowl
USA - big disappointment! hindi maganda malaki lang 
Marami magagandang structure pero sa 100+ na participating country, 13 lang napasok namin kasi sobra haba ng pila. Sa China pav 3hours kami pumila! un iba namin kasama pumila sa Japan pav 5hours daw bago sila nakapasok! 

^Nice !  anong country ang pinakamagandang exhibit ?  sayang wala na ko sa shanghai ngayon.

punta kayo sa zhuhai. laki ng shopping center dun. mura because you get to haggle the prices. pwede din kayo mag pa massage and mani/pedi.

pag mga tyangge lang halos pareho lang sa divisoria, mas mura pa nga .. kakainis kasi minsan pag alam nila foreigner sobra taas ng patong di naman ako marunong makipagbargain ng husto hehe

oo sis hindi ka makaka-connect sa fb dito sa china kahit youtube hinde.. naka-blocked lahat ng pwedeng mapanooran ng video.. bawal dito video. katulad ng youtube.. pero may nadownload ako na proxy almost 4months ko na nagagamit. FreeU1.0. ok sya.. makakapagbukas karin ng farmville.. yung ibang proxy kasi hindi ka makakapag bukas ng farmville.

meron din ba nadedeny ng visa for shanghai?

of course! Kapag illegal worker ka doon or blacklisted sa China. The same goes with all the countries naman e.

i guess what i meant was meron din bang nadedeny na regular applicants like me who just want to tour? siempre excluding those illegal workers at mga blacklisted we all know the answer to that.. or yung pagbibigay ba nila ng visa is parang formality lang?

sis, yung pila sobrang haba. you might want to process your visa thru a reputable agency to avoid the long lines.

I was in Beijing and Shanghai last month. I like Shanghai better. Mas "city" yung feel and mas lesser yung dumudura. LOL!

and meron NEW REQUIREMENTS AGAIN! sumasakit na rin ulo ko. yun requirements that I posted above, dati for first time travellers lang. Ngayon, all the requirements required for those FIRST TIME TRAVELLER TO MAINLAND CHINA. So kahit na may US visa or schengen visa or other first world country visa ka, if first time mo mag China, you need to provide ALL the requirement posted above.

Better check sa bulletin board sa embassy. Sa website kasi and answering machine hindi pa updated

it would be my 1st time in mainland china this september.  i've been to hk and  macau but that's still not considered part of mainland china right?
so that means i have to submit all the documents needed? as in pati nbi clearance? 1st time ko mag submit ng nbi clearance for a visa.

I'm employed but i do not have an sss id and my company id doesn't contain any other information except for my name and picture. my itr and certificate of employment are the only documents that i could submit that could prove that i am really working for the company that i'm working for. as for the ssn contributions, i still have to figure out how to get that. medyo ang dami pala ng requirements.

pano pala yung kasama ko, she has been to china before plane ticket and hotel reservation lang ba yung papakita nya sa embassy?

any suggestions on backpackers inn located in beijing and shanghai?
Diy trip lang kami. We will be in china for 8 days only. 2 nights would be spend inside a train that travels from beijing-shanghai and shanghai-beijing.

Is the budget US$60.00 per person per day enough in china for food, transportation and tours? Usually how much is the food in beijing and shanghai?
We already have a plane ticket. As for the accomodations Php. 600-700 per day per person yung budget namin.

I want to see the terracota soldiers, pwede pa kaya namin isingit sa schedule namin yun? Kaso nasa ibang province yun di ba? Di kaya maubos yung oras namin pag puntahan pa namin yun?

my post that you quoted was lasst september 2009 pa. check the website na lang for the updated info.

mainland china doesn't include hk, macau, tibet. better check the website for the latest requirements: ph.china-embassy.org

if no sss id, print out ka na lang sss contributions from internet, bilis lang naman, or baka pwede ka himingi sa HR. company id pwede siguro yun ganon, basta meron name ng company.

yun friend mo, if china visa STICKER type yun kanya before, pwede plane ticket and hotel reservation lang. but then again, nakasulat nga sa website na one of the requirements are "OTHER DOCUMENTS REQUIRED BY THE VISA OFFICER". So siguro, if okay naman yun application niya, okay. pero if may duda na magillegal work siya doon or something, baka mas madami requriements.

re: backpackers, you can try sa tripadvisor.com and virtualtourist.com there are A LOT of threads and info on that.

yun P600-700 per night na accomodation meron naman. meron kasi mga 60rmb (dorm type room if you're not choosy) available sa mga backpackers hostel. food in beijing, cheapest I ate was around 70pesos, pero yan yun sa small resto, no english menu. normal mga 25-30rmb (set menu near our school before). sa shanghai, I usually eat sa malls kasi ang init nung time na pumunta ako, so lagi ako mall pampalamig. usually about mga 50 per meal.

terracotta is in xi-an. that's around 12hours ride train (way back 2007, I took the overnight train) from beijing. you can try beijing-xian-shanghai, pero depends on your itenerary per place. If madami ka pupuntahan sa isang place,baka you're rushing yourself too much. pero let's say you just want to spend 2 days in beijing, I think kaya isama yun xian.

grabe naman ang damin requirements for visa.  it's a big risk to go get tickets and accommodations.  what are the odds that you can get denied?  parang sayang naman money pag na deny tapos you bought tickets na.  meron na bang naka experience non?

^well, it's a risk that everyone has to take. either get a refundable ticket or piso fare para kunti lang lugi mo hehe

even sa ibang embassy, kahit no need airline ticket or accommodation, and even if the embassy issued you a visa, it doesn't guarantee entry to their country. other embassies also require hotel vouchers and airline ticket.

odds you can get denied? I think if may suspicions ang consulate na magwork ka doon illegally or mag TNT, you can get denied. pero if wala naman siguro, I don't think madedeny. Ewan lang. Pero I think it makes sense naman. Siyempre, which country doesn't want tourists to visit their country diba? But of course, laging may precaution. If legal na tourist, they'll give you visa. And if suspicions na magwork doon or TNT, syempre deny.
