Maple Crest, just go to any bookstore, then punta ka sa section na puro mga countries...( di ko alam kung ano tawag doon eh ehhe) then you would see lonely planet there then look for china

I'll do that. planning to next week siguro. would like to check kung ano ang pwede damin dalhin. meron akong nakita online na suggestion sa tripadvisor. Me No Speak: China. Puno ng pictures na may words din in english and chinese. you'll just point kung saan mo gusto punta (like subway). but I don't know if this is available sa local stores natin.

ChefKrissie, how long have you been in china? chaka saang city/province ka dyan?

^^di po strict ang pagkuha ng visa sa china embassy.
as in punta ka lang dun, submit your docs, then bibigyan ka nila ng date kung kelan ang pick up..then go back on that date, fall in line, pay, and get your stamped passport. ganun kadali.

i just had my interview sa chinese embassy yesterday...akala ko mahihirapan ako kase andito ako sa vietnam nag apply pero mabilis lang naman, wala ngang tanong-tanong eh..makukuha daw on july 2.

sana nga ganun pa rin ka-lenient. heard lang kasi strict because of the olympics.

i'l go there on june 30. may ticket na kasi kami ng son ko, alis namin is July 7..sana di naman ganun kahaba pila.

ay salamat..okay na yung visa namin ng son ko. July 3 makukuha. medyo strict sila ngayun, madaming tourist din ang denied kasi walang hotel voucher etc etc. madaming hinihingi. sabi ng mga katabi ko..di naman daw ganun dati.

nyway, basta okay na yung sa amin ng baby ko..thank God.

chefKrissie I got to see the book already. medyo makapal pala yun pero mukhang loaded ng info about china.

We are also thinking of going to a nearby country from Beijing?  any suggestion which country na madaling puntahan and maganda?  I was thinking of Tibet but It's on the other side of Beijing, ang layo. ang nakita ko naman na malapit-lapit sa Beijing ay Mongolia. Moscow sana but the plane ticket is ridiculous!

Carleah ano ang hotel voucher?  is it hotel reservation with downpayment?

Maplecrest, i wont suggest na pumunta ka sa tibet...i mean what i heard from the news medyo magulo doon...hindi masyadong safe for a tourist. you prefer ba na country talaga or oki din sayo ang ibang cities? are you planning to go there with a group ( with tourist guide) or kayo kayo lang?

Ah talaga, magulo dun. although parang nabasa ko na open na ulit ang tibet for tourists.  siguro punta kami dun (by train) then look for a tourist guide.  pero isang option lang ito. pero ang layo ng tibet, ang malapit-lapit ay mongolia.

kung local naman, shanghai sana kaya lang ang haba ng train ride, about 14 hours eh ang sakit sa katawan nun. i was checking air china pero di ko makita how much. do you know of other airlines na may flight na beijing-shanghai?

Can you recommend other cities na magandang puntahan near beijing?

shanghai 14 hrs?? 12 hours lang, take the nonstop train. T train ata yun, maganda pa yun loob. hindi naman masakit sa katawan kasi you'll just sleep the whole time. nasakay ko dati is mga 6pm departure, tapos mga 630 am arrive sa beijing. siyempre ginawa ko lang matulog and kumain. ok naman yun bed, yun magandang train kasi kinuha ko. just pray na yun kasama mo sa compartment sana hindi local chinese, because they SNORE LOUDLY!!!

^^ re: tibet, check mo ulit if pwede kayo directly pumunta doon without joining group tour. kasi last time i asked (pero mga last year na June yun), kailangan kasali kayo sa group tour bago kayo bibigyan ng visa at makapunta ng tibet. pero pagdating naman doon, pwede kayo humiwalay sa tour.

my sis-in-law stayed there and was not satisfied, they checked-out the next day and looked for another hotel ... prob is i kinda forgot the reason why they hated it there ... me naman i just stayed at Marco Polo Hotel Beijing and I loved it ...

乾淨，有吸引力，高技術和恰好位於.. as always Holiday Inn Hotel group is OK.. the one in central plaza has nice location...very high-tech service, you can even bring your pets with you.. service is excellent, buffet (perfect).. staff friendly... I recommend coz after all, it's Holiday Inn...

Thanks iluvescadasport!  Sis tama ba na 60-70 USD ang one way Beijing-Shanghai?  Pano kaya yung mga gamit namin if we will be sleeping?  What if dalawa langkami sa compartment, may kasama kaming dalawang strangers. meron bang lalagyan ng gamit na secure inside the compartment?

also, can we purchase train ticket the day that we are planning to leave?  o days in advance?
