Using the husband's surname, will you or will you not?

Sa mga married na, pinalitan ninyo ba yung apelyido ninyo ng surname ni hubby?

Sa mga single at sa mga ikakasal pa lang, will you adapt your husband's surname o ireretain ninyo ang surname ninyo?

Dami kasi ngayon, hindi pinapalitan ang surname, kala ko naman dati, nasa batas na kailangan kapag kasal ka na eh palitan mo surname mo

why not diba? pero nasa discretion mo padin yan. some would just use their surname tapos hyphenated nalang with their husband surname. ako pinag iisipan ko pa if hyphenated nalang or use his surname para mas madali

I did take my husband's surname. But I make it a point to always include my maiden name specially at work since mas kilala ako sa maiden name ko.

I adapted my hubby's surname, pero now, parang sana na lang hinyphenated ko na lang, since gusto ko sana surname ni Dad ang gamit ko pag naging nurse na ako, its like a thank you thing for my father.

like mama squeak i did take my husband's name and often than not i also include my maiden name. so my name maiden name-married name.

kaso lang minsan parang may tampo si hubby parang tinatatwa ko daw ang kanyang pangalan...at parang ayoko daw ng apelido nya... may pagka old -fashioned kasi sya when it comes to these things...

Siguro, kapag married na ko, hypenated na lang ang surname ng hubby ko.  But then again, I might change my mind. Hehe!

Sabi ko nga kay boyfriend na kapag kinasal na kami, surname ko pa rin gagamitin ko... kasi hindi tinatanggap sa Microsoft Word 'yung surname niya.

For me it's a long drawn process. I got married about 10 months ago, my SSS and BIR information have been updated to reflect the change in my status. But my passport, driver's license, company ID, and credit cards still bear my maiden name. Even at work, my email address (format is surname.initials@companyname.com) bears my maiden name, BUT my HR records bear my married name. I've lost track of which bears my maiden name and which one has my married name in the different systems, so I just go by hit and miss. 50/50 chance naman eh.

On the gov't issued IDs and credit cards-- I'm waiting for those IDs to expire so that I can change them to my married name. It's going to take a couple of years since my passport doesn't expire until 2011! Yikes! Maybe I should just take a leave and update all my IDs in one go, noh?

But ladies, I'm curious-- does it matter so much to your husbands whether you take his name or not?

it took me a year before i get used to using my hubby's surname...hehe...pero until now yung mga email address ko, im still using my maiden name....la lang..tamad lang ako mag-register ng bagong email hehe...

I'm divorced but I'm still using my ex' surname. Feeling ko ako si Ali Sotto and Tina Turner.. hehe...
I would think twice kung ang surname ni hubby eh,  Puquiz o Labatiti. I am not enthusiastic that my kids will carry on that surname.

Mas maikli kasi (Japanese) at mas madali ispell & ipronounce haha.

i wanted to keep my surname, mas may clout kesa sa surname ni hubby. haha.

all my legal documents bear my husband's surname, pati my office records.

but my email signature is hyphenated because my regional counterparts know me by my maiden name and my email address and phone directory name has been changed to my married name.

At the start, used hyphenated surname.  Then it got to be unwieldy with conflicting documents and in some foreign countries -- they do not pick up the hyphenated name.  To simplify matters, I just dropped my maiden name.  I also wanted to prove to my parents that I would make a name for myself through hard competent work without using the clout of their family name.

i wanted to keep my maiden name since mas maganda pakinggan kaysa sa surname ni hubby pero para di magka gulo sa mga important documents i adopt my husband surname

i like my hubby's surname kaya nagchange ako. kaya lang now may problem ako with my passport dahil sa "ñ". wala daw silang ganun sa computer nila kaya n lang nakalagay. sibak ako nito. kailangan ko pa ng affidavit if ever.

i would love to use my surname kahit ikasal n ako mas nagagandahan kasi ako sa apelyido ko, spanish kasi ang dating, hehe, pero nung sinabi ko yun kay h2b ay naku ang lakas ng tampo... sobra!!!! kaya parang ang gagamitin ko talaga eh yung surname niya, pero hihirit pa rin ako baka mapapayag ko sa gusto ko, hahaha
