^ Do you mind sharing with me your travel agent's number? I tried searching for MNL to JFK flights in May from expedia and other online booking sites but I'm not satisfied with the prices they are giving. Maybe a local agency can give me a better prices.

Excited for my NYC trip in May! How's the weather then? Can I wear shorts? Or is it still chilly outside that I will need a light jacket?

^sis matagal na panahon na since i last transacted with my phils. travel agent. you can probably go with any trusted travel agent in manila, kasi from what i know, airlines give them special discounts unlike if you book directly. according to my members of my family, eva air daw is nice. i think it can be quite expensive to travel during may since its high season.

May is springtime, mostly rainy and can be chilly at times, pero depende naman yan how you can handle the cold. light jacket is highly recommended. it might be warmer in the morning, but lumalamig sa gabi. enjoy your trip.

Uniqlo's Heat Tech is my defense to NYC's cold weather.   

We were there in April, then  August, then October.
Yes,  we experienced  the earthquake &  the typhoon last Aug.    And the airport lockdown (delayed our return trip by 2days).   
I noticed that the weather changes during the day, last Oct. - It seems that NYC has been more rainy than cold this past year.      ( Check the weather forecast for the day before dressing up to go out. ).   

A weird nice thing  happened to me last Oct.  It started to rain around 6pm -- rushing through W13th, --- a man handed me his umbrella, then he rushed off.  .   Then  I saw the hubby of Sarah Jessica Parker  right there on the sidewalk.  .

But I am staying away from NYC until mid-March, then  we will return in May, and just might all stay  over till July.

If everything goes to plan, I'll be in NYC mid-May to visit a good friend. Question, are there any events/festivals happening there around that time? I'm trying to avoid peak fares/hotels rates kasi.

I'll be traveling mid-May, too! Been looking for cheap airfares but the lowest rate I can find ranges from 1.2k to 1.4k. Is this the average rate for May travel? I still find it a bit too much. Hope someone can advise if I should already purchase these tickets or is there a chance that this will still go down?

^If you're coming from Manila, April-May are considered peak travel months because of the summer vacation here (most flights will be full). So, yes it would be very difficult to find cheap airfares during that time.

End of May, we have the Memorial Day Weekend but if you're coming before that then you should be fine. Great time to go. Weather should be awesome.

i will be in new york for seminar on may 2012 and we'll have sidetrip sa Niagara after. From Niagara US side, I am planning to go to my sister in Canada, Ontario (I am currently processing my visa), I learned about the Rainbow Bridge connecting the two countries and according to some internet infos, It can be travelled thru walking. I am hessistant to walk that bridge because of my bagage and ako lang mag-isa (about 500m. daw ang layo)

Alam nyo po ba if there is a public transpo sa rainbow bridge? and from canada side of rainbow bridge, do you know if may public transpo going to ontario?

I may not be the best person to reply here kasi I'm nowhere near the area. But we went to Niagara last September and I can say that the Rainbrow bridge is massive. It covers the area that separate US and Canada. You mentioned sis that your sister lives in ON, i think pasundo ka na lang from the US side, that way hindi ka na mahirapan.

you can definitely walk, there is a pedestrian walkway going in and out of US and vice versa for canada. i have seen people do that, but have not seen anyone totting a luggage. if you do that, you still have to pass thru immigration though, the same building where the busses stop bec you have luggage and its needs to be inspected and your papers checked.

or if you want to make things easier, take a greyhound bus in the US side that will take you to toronto, afterwhich you can take another bus or train to wherever in ontario you are going.

you will stop at the border before coming to canada, then board the bus again and the last stop will be at the geyhound bus station in downtown toronto.

Booked our flights to NYC this June so i'm excited to roam around. I'll put together our itinerary two weeks before we leave.

Same here Vera! Just book our hotel for NYC although we're going the week before Memorial Day in May. We're gonna be driving though, we'll stop in DC first and then go to NYC.

We'll also be driving there the weekend before Memorial Day. Since our visit will only be short my brother-in-law prefers to stay around the Times Square area but the hotels there are so expensive! 
Do you ladies know of any other good areas to stay? We'd like to be pretty central to all the tourist sights sana. Near a subway station would be great too!

Tell me about it, hotels are uber expensive in NYC! If you don't mind staying in the hotels near the airports (LGA, JFK and EWK) they are cheaper as compared to the one in central/financial area. I opt to stay near Broadway and we're just staying at a 2-star hotel like Days and it cost almost $180 a night.  You can check Hotwire, rooms are typically cheaper but then you don't know exactly know the hotel that you're booking, only the location and the hotel-star rate.

^Super expensive talaga! Medyo maarte din kasi brother-in-law ko. Good luck kung maaya ko sa 2 star hotel 

For 1 to 2 nights stay, I've used Hotwire before kung solo ako or kasama ko si hubby. And so far maganda yung mga hotels na nakukuha ko. This time kasi I'll be travelling with my sister and brother-in-law who'd prefer to know in advance which hotel we'll be staying at. Priceline sana din maganda gamitin kaya lang they only accept US issued credit cards.

Ah great, I hope you'll have a fantastic holiday. We're staying for a week only so I hope to squeeze everything in a week.
