On the rudeness of New Yorkers...it is what it is. It's funny how people are appalled by it when it's a widely known fact that NYers are normally so self-absorbed to realize anything else that might be going on around them. I mean of course I don't speak of EVERYONE but the general culture here is that. This is the reality of New York. Everyone comes here to visit, falls inlove and says this is the best place on earth. When in reality, naturally like other things, there's many things to hate about it too. You just can't come to a place like New York and expect a whimsical town of folks.

^ totally agree. Funny thing is, when I was there, I was telling myself, I hate NY (while buying the I LOVE NY souvenirs)

then a week after my trip I was begging hubby to take me back there. I'm crazy but between hating the place I fell in love with the city LOL.

actually not totally shocked by nyorker attitude thing. just sharing my observation. while it is true that people go there to visit, there are things to see, and just like in any other country, should be left unseen.
and true, when go there to visit, dont expect people to be nicey-nicey with you.

It took me awhile to love this city. I moved here 7 years ago and having grown up in the Bay Area...boy it was a huge adjustment on my part. But I've really grown to love this city, the good and the bad...and the very bad. I've talked about moving back to California one of these days, but for now, this is home

Also, I'm quite partial to Brooklyn...which by the way...I hope people know IS also New York City. I hate to have people assume that NYC only refers to Manhattan. On that note, not all the world is Manhattan. There's more than meets the eye with the other 4 boroughs of NYC

I'm going to NY this coming Sept 17 to Oct 10. Will it still be a bit hot? Sabi kasi ng relatives namin doon, maaga pa for fall season kaya i-delay pa daw namin ng ilang weeks.

What are the typical outfits na kailangan by that time? I'm super excited kasi first time ko pumuntang US and I will be with my husband and 5-year-old daughter.

Ok ba ang Sex and the City tour? LOL! I wanna try it kasi.

^sis I enjoyed the Sex and the City tour.  I'm really a big fan of the series, he he.  I'm not sure if ok magsama ng toddler.  you'll be going to the sex shop kasi (remember that scene namili sila ng toys?) and also to dun sa bar in Steve and Aidan where you'll be served cocktails.

hi guys, i'm planning to go to New York this November. is it safe to go there alone? if not, do you know any new york travel package that i can join with? actually i prefer backpacking tour lang sana because it's much economical. i've never been to a package tour before, im always a backpacker tourist, but in asia pa lang. never been to other continents pa.

I'll leave my daughter with my MIL and Father-in-Law (who's going to be travelling with us too). My problem now is who's going to come with me  for sure, hubby will beg off!

My NY-based uncle said temperature will be more or less like Baguio when we get there.

^ November is not really that cold. I don't think you'll need really heavy jackets and thermals. You should be fine with just a regular one.

Just checked the statuecruises site and saw that access to the statue will not be available Oct 29, 2011 onwards for maintenance.

pwede siguro basta lang you plan your itinerary well.

if you're already in Manhattan, in one day, basta lang you start early, you can tour the famous landmarks which is good enough for picture taking (Rockefeller, radio city music hall, times square, st patrick, 9/11 site, empire state bldg, central park, 5th ave, wall street). go back to your hotel late at night para no wasted time and sagad ang lakad. this is a major walkathon.

you might want to visit West Point (then head to woodburry premiums outlet for some serious shopping if its part of your plan). its also nice to visit the Brox zoo. then check out whats showing at broadway if you still have time at night.

maybe you can make the trip to statue of liberty/ellis island last,  visit museums, then tour the city some more with the rest of the time remaining (kung meron pa and kung hindi pa kayo major tired).

^yeah, I think the statue will be undergoing renovations for a year. Sayang ok kasi yung museum inside the statue. It basically gives you information on how the statue was shipped, formed and renovated after the past years. Chaka andun yung mukha ni Lady Liberty as well as her feet. Ang laki!
