very helpful thread. thanks ladies! i'm going there this november - i plan to stay in jersey na lang siguro and commute to NYC, masyado kasi mahal ang accommodations sa NY eh. hay.

can you sign up for tours or something sa NYC? any recommendations if ever? i might go alone, dang!

Yaiks! Me naman,parang scared.My mom wants to send me off to NYU to get my masters.Yun kase yung gusto kong school before for my undergrad kaso xempre young-ish pa ko,so na veto before.Pero now naman na older na ko,scaredy cat naman na ko! Cant imagine living there noh! 1 of my friends kase sa burbs nakatira,so maganda yung house.Pero paglumalabas sila,if you've seen Rent daw,parang ganun talaga ang NY,marumi and magulo.Yung isa namang banker friend ko said isang malaking binondo lang daw ang NY! Yaiks! If that's the case,ang sarap na ng life ko dito sa manila noh! Nga lang,bye bye new york university na.Hay.Hirap magdecide!Guys,talaga bang ganun ka bad sa new york?!

^ oh nooo. it's that cold?! baka dito pa naman kami magpasko. para lang maka experience kami ng family ng white christmas sabi ng dad ko. hehe sabi ko nga sa california na lang kami mag pasko since mas madami relatives dun then sa new york na lang mag new year kasi okay yung countdown sa times square diba?

ganun ba mga sis?yeah me too i really wanna try white christmas kaya kahit malamig kakayanin ko..this has been my childhood dream eh.especially yung countdown for new year's ;-)..do you know any place here in manila sis which sells mga winter coats, gloves or thermals?we checked north face, but baka meron mga cheaper alterntaives..i heard there's one in greenhills daw?anybody knows about that?thanks it'll be a great help kahit good for 1 or 2 days lang kasi hirap naman kung pagdating namin doon wala maisusuot.

^sis try mga online sellers.. i've seen some online sellers that do sell mga coats/ jackets na ok din gamitin for winter sa states.. meron sana ko inorderan ng winter jackets since babalik na din ako ng NJ/NY this november.. kaso last week lang sabi nung seller freeze muna yung pre-order.. pero she'll let me know daw if ok na ulit, medyo nagkaprob ata sa sellr nila.. sayang nga eh kase super cheap ng jacket collection nya kesa pagbalik ko ng states saka bibili don..

i'm looking for other sellers padin, pag may nakita na ko ulit, inform kita sis..

anyways, sa mga sisses natin na nasa NY/NJ and open ang schedule, i'd be really glad makipagkita kits.. i'll be back na kase ulit this nov, baka 1year ulit ako don.. kaya i'm so sad to leave nanaman lalo na mag-xxmas panaman.. to meet new friends na makakasama mag-stroll around the city syempre mas ok..

So far ang na try ko sa NYC nung pumunta kami dun was Krystal's pastry shop. they have like a daily lunch buffet, ang sarap at ang mura na. I also ordered sisig there sarap din.

New York is very nice talaga. I thought pagkatapos kung pumunta dun hindi ko na magustohan bumalik but still would like to go back and visit someday.

For me kasi, ang New York City is one of the places na parang you've never been to the US if hindi ka nakapunta dun.

RE: New Year's Eve countdown at Times Square - you do it once and that's it!

Did it 2 years ago, never again! We got there around 5pm and the place was already packed. The ball was at 42nd St and they barricade every street para di overcrowded. We were around 60th St. na. No public bathrooms, most of the shops are closed, if you get out of the barricade to use the bathroom (at whatever open restaurant/bar you find), they won't let you back in. So besides the hassle, it's super cold pa! After the countdown, wala pang 5 minutes, alisan na mga tao and siksikan sa streets and subways. So try it once and never again!

Or, come around 10am, wait for 12 hours while watching the shows and take lots of pics!!

don't forget to stop by Carnegie deli for some yummy pastrami! very very huge serving but really good

their cheesecake is also one of the best i've tasted

Could get way below freezing point. Landed at JFK airport one winter day and there was a snowstorm. Had to wait outside for more than 30 minutes before my bro got through the traffic and was able to finally pick me up. I was all wrapped up but I felt like I was going to die.

Good to also see shows on Broadway orthe Christmas Spectacular at Radio City.

February is the coldest month in NYC so bundle up! Bring/borrow a wool coat, scarf, gloves, boots, beanie. Layer, layer, layer!
