kung gusto ninyo medyo makamura na external hard drive, just purchase a notebook HD tapos enclosure, hindi na kailangan ng power outlet nun. kaya na ng USB yun, provided yung computer ninyo naka USB 2.0 na

Has anyone tried the Western Digital "portable" drive?  Saw one in some stores, costing approximately P6k for 250GB.  But their 500GB "book" type was almost the same if not cheaper...

I have Western Digital 3.5 external na 500GB and 2.5 na 160GB.
Maganda ang WD...sturdy sya, di madaling masira kasi matigas ang cover. Ok din, never had a problem with it since the time I bought it.

Hi. I have a question sana. I would like to buy an external hard drive but I don't know what's the best brand and the capacity. I just need the hard drive for my files lang so no need for a higher capacity. Can anyone suggest me what to get and the price as well? I'm using a laptop by the way. Thanks :)

are you planning on cloning your laptop's internal hdd? what sort of interface (USB, Firewire) do you want? portable or desktop?  :)

well, ok. cloning (usually done by software) means you copy your entire system, applications and all, and save it in the external. most of the time, this will be a one-touch operation. everything gets saved in a bootable copy, which can be overwritten by newer versions. naturally, you should only clone to an hdd that is at least the same size as your internal one  :)

^What's advisable if I would buy an external hdd? Do I need to clone my hdd or is there an hdd out there that is just for file storage?

well, it all depends on you. personally, though, i'd go for cloning the internal hdd because it just is much more convenient. you can choose to use it as an external storage medium instead of a backup, if you wish.

portable, by the way, is more expensive. mga 5k yata for a 120GB Seagate Freeagent Go  :)

^Thanks :) By the way, if I buy the external hdd, how do I clone it? Does the external hdd comes with a cloning cd?

Last question: Is it user friendly?

Sorry, dami kong questions :)
