Nag improve na ba ang batt life ng mga Windows Mobile phones? Marami na ring competitor ang HTC gaya ng Samsung Omnia and SE Xperia..

I have my eye on HTC as well. Quite disappointed with Sony Ericsson of late -- the discontinuation of the UIQ user interface (on their smartphones) has been officially announced

HTC TouchFlo 3D user interface on the Touch Diamond, Touch Pro and the Touch HD (coming soon, bruited the true iPhone contender) takes Windows Mobile to a new level.

These units cost an arm and a leg -- the Touch Pro with slide out qwerty keyboard in particular. I'm seriously interested in this model, though. Price is going down albeit slowly I guess when New Year comes around I'll be ready to gift myself with a yummy techno-licious Touch Pro

Initially I considered the Touch Diamond, which is a good Php10-12K cheaper than the Pro but the lack of a hardware keyboard is a major drawback. I'm a tactile person and use my present phone's qwerty keyboard rather than the on-screen version.

Moreover, the shiny back plate of the Diamond is said to wear down fast. The Touch Pro has improved on this by using a matte rubberized material similar to the Sony Ericsson P1i's, which provides better grip and doesn't get scratched and covered with fingerprints easily. For a touchy-touch person that I am, this improved feel comes as a big plus.

Having a slide-out keyboard will reduce fingerprints on the screen. It's said that the Diamond's glossy screen surface is a fingerprint magnet. As an added bonus, HTC has thrown in a screen protector to the Touch Pro retail package.

HTC phones look really innovative. The D-pad is an exciting new experience (another boon to tactility). And while the screens are large enough for finger navigation, HTC hasn't omitted the trusty stylus. What's more, the stylus is active, meaning pulling it out of the silo will put the phone out of standby. It's a small but useful feature.

Rock the TouchFlo UI with the reasonably priced HTC Touch Viva

HTC Touch Viva targets emerging markets (I suppose the Philippines counts). It features a new interface called TouchFlo 2D, a simplified version of the TouchFlo 3D found in the present flagship Touch Diamond (and Touch Pro).

Touch Viva is the successor of the palm-size Touch. So if you're considering to get a Touch, perhaps you'd like to wait out a little more and bat for the Touch Viva.

I watched some videos of Touch Viva in action on YouTube, and it looks like TouchFlo 2D is faster and smoother than its big brother TouchFlo 3D.

Touch Viva is available in Hong Kong as of Oct 2008.

RAM and ROM size wise, it's in more or less the same class as the Sony Ericsson P1i.

di ako maka-decide whether to buy htc touch diamond or not.  it's a toss between this or the n95.  sa totoo lang, di ko naman magagamit masyado mga features nya coz mostly text and calls lang ang ginagawa ko sa phone ko.  type ko lang talaga yung itsura. oh, 1 concern ko pala.  mabilis bang magka-fingerprint yung back part ng phone coz parang shiny sya?

IMO, the Diamond's lack of a hardware keyboard is one of its main disadvantages. While the Diamond features three kinds of virtual keyboards (user can select between a 12-key phone keyboard, a 20-key semi-qwerty and a full qwerty), typing with the screen keyboard is slower than typing on a real, solid keyboard.

Like I mentioned, the back cover is of a high gloss plastic, not just parang shiny and any uber-shiny surface retains fingerprints and smudges like hell Not only that, if you've taken time to look at pictures of the Diamond, the back cover's beveled edges are said to wear down fast (napupudpod kaagad).

A worn-down look in just a few months of use doesn't seem to make justice of the price.

Volts, you're absolutely right. Phones are racked up on the basis of their beauty rather than the beast that resides within. Marketing succeeds on that point.

I read that WinMo 7 will add zooming and scaling capabilities (mimicking Apple?) and new apps. It's possible to upgrade from 6.1 to 7, right?

Oh, this is interesting. I saw a video of the TouchFlo 3D on the SE Xperia X1! Looks like mod-loving SE owners have something to hack on their X1's!

the way i see it, touchflo is the best you can get for winmo at the moment. nice, but still bloated

I'm using HTC_Touch Pro and I must say cia un the best PDA phone I have better than my I-mate JasJam and I-mate Ultimate.
Un hiccup lang for me sa HTC Touch Pro dahil sa Windows 6.1 cia un SMS nya appears to be in a SMS CHAT format which mahirap ilagay sa folder when you file it. buti nalang naka download si hubby ng chat enabler kaya nadi2sable ko cia...and 3G really works well with this PDA.

About Samsung Omnia, sobrang disappointed si hubby dito.

I am using an HTC Touch Phone. It's cool. I would recommend it.
