Toys R Us is selling it at 26K while some stores at Vmall greenhills are selling US version, unmodified at 18-19K

^nintendo has addressed that issue already. i think they did improvements on the strap to prevent them from slipping.

ok ang Wii, naka-aliw. super tawa family ko when we play. nakaka-exercise din sya kaya ok. i like the bowling game, but i dont like boxing coz i cant win vs my mom.

the wii-mote straps have been fixed.  we own 2 and havent encountered any probs.

I saw some silicone cover for the Wiimote (similar to cellphones) when I went to Toy Kingdom last time so I guess it's now double-protective with a wriststrap on.

IMHO, I used the Wiimote for Tennis and Baseball and so far I had no trouble gripping so I guess the situation really depends on the user.

We don't use our plasma when playing. We bought another LDC tv especially for the games. And our Wii is from my hubby's work which we borrow from time to time. We have PS3.

Can someone please explain to me why Wii has to be converted
In Greenhills, I heard they're selling Wii with 2 remote controls, converted,free 15 games for P25k.

worth it talaga ang wii. my bf has one, although it's permanently here in my room. hehe. so technically, mine na rin. it's much much cheaper than ps3 and mas multi-player ang mga games.

The "modified" kind means it can play bootleg games. I've first heard that they now convert/modify when I was in Baguio last Holy Week. Maybe they also change the voltage configuration to 220V when they modififed the Wii. Or maybe they have an included transformer with the package. I remember my converted PS2 came with a 220v adapter.

I, for one, won't tarnish my ever-loving gaming console. I'll keep my Wii pure and I'm willing to purchase the original games. Somehow, Wii games are a couple of hundreds cheaper than a DS game.

I recently bought my Wii for 20.5K.  It's modified, meaning, it can play games that we should not be discussing in this forum 

Unmodified Wiis, on the other hand, go for as low as 16k at a shop named Celtex in Green Hills.

When you say "converted," it means "modified."  Power voltage cannot be converted. 

The Japanese Wii is 220v.  But you shouldn't be buying that because the menu will also be in Japanese and even if it's modified, it won't be able to play ALL the US games.  The US Wii is 110v, so you will need a transformer or an AVR.

Oh, and this is very important.  Whether original or backups, you should only play the games that are meant to be played on your Wii model.  If you have a US Wii, for example, do not attempt to play a Japanese game on it without proper research.  Some of the newer games will forcibly update the firmware of your Wii.  Japanese games are meant to update Japanese Wiis.  US games are meant to update US Wiis.  If a Japanese game updates a US Wii, it will render the console unusable.  There is no known cure for this at the moment.  Currently, Super Paper Mario is the only game that has caused such troubles.

And some may want to know that the Wii can play Gamecube games, but you will need a Gamecube controller and a Gamecube memory card for saving.  If your Wii is modded with the Wiikey, you can play Gamecube backups as well.

So, how is the Wii?

why is the wii so expensive here? it's only 250 dollars in the us. dapat around 15k lang.
