^Hi sis! I think it's better nga if you'd pass the boards muna. Pampaganda ng resume since wala ka pa work experience and matagal na since nag graduate ka. But I am not saying na hindi ka makakahanap ng work if non-cpa ka... meron ka pa din makukuha nyan. Better lang pag licensed ka na.

As to the review centers, CPAR lang ang natry ko. May friends ako na nag RESA, sabi nila okay daw ang turo dun at parang zero-based type of teaching. So I think ang piliin mo is yung RESA dahil sa CPAR baka ma-lost ka dahil sa bilis ng turo. They are located sa ubelt lang. RESA near PSBA i think. :)

graduated and got my license in '02, worked at then Joaquin Cunanan (PWC) for 3 years for a measly P8,500 starting salary ( :o ) and moved to the US w/o batting an eyelash after a good offer came in.  Proud product of Resa (Sir Dayag! Hi!!!!  ;D )

Just passed the California CPA exams (thank you Lord!) will apply for licensure in a couple of months. Madali lang (DAW!) but im also working so it took away some of my available time to focus on the exams.

For those interested in taking the exams, you need to at least have a degree in accounting (to make the required accounting and business units). You need to bring your transcript of records and have an independent appraiser certify that you met the required number of undergraduate units (normally if your school is one of the top universities in the Phils, you'll qualify). But then you can't get licensed unless you worked for about 1000 hrs or at least 2 years in a public acctng company in the US.

I think, kahit sinong graduate sa atin papasa siguro sa exam, ganun tayo kagaling!!!!  ;)

AND YES, walang buhay nung auditor ako!!!! bleh!!!!!

BSA grad in 1996, took the board and failed in '96, worked for Joaquin Cunanan (PWC) from June '97 to Sep '01, retook the review class at ReSA and the board exam in May '02 and passed.  nag-work sa aviation industry sa Pasay for 5 years, was sent here in US in Feb 08 to sister company.  still working sa aviation industry

still undecided whether i will take the board exam here in the US...

^ The Roque brothers were one (rather, two) of the original partners when RESA was formed but left a few years after and had their own Roque review school (tama ba?) I still recommend RESA even after that. But then again, that's almost 8 years ago....

tanong ka sa iba....

^ sa review i think importante yung napag araln mo na yug review materials bago ka pumasok. then syempre aim high aim for the top 1 hahahaha. at iwas barkada dyan ako nadale before.

If you can penetrate those prestigious audit firms back home much better, mahirap lang pero magandang foundation.

^^ tama si seagirl. definitely try to get experience from the big 4 firms. Totoo yan, I've experienced it when I switched jobs.

thank you sa mga advices  ;D

yeah, marami nga nagsasabi sakin na hirap pag sa audit ka, laging overworked, but underpaid (not sure though, kwento lang sakin.). any opinions on that?

^ Its true that mababa talaga ang starting ng auditors, and super overworked at that pero i think now medyo mataas na rin ang offer nila, because of competition, especially if you have academic distinction, or if you're a board topnotcher.

And audit will take you to places. Its a nice stepping stone talaga if you want to work in MNCs or abroad din.

^ hi sis, thanks sa reply. mga ilang years before u can go out of audit (and say na may reasonable "audit experience" ka na)? 2 yrs?

^Sis, I think 3-5 years is enough for you to have a reasonable experience in audit. I'm still in audit for more than 3 years na. hehe. It is enjoyable, imho, the work experience, the friends and business people that you will meet, as in. Minsan kasi hahanapin mo yung challenge ng work e, which sometimes (I'm not saying always), hindi mo makukuha in a private company. I can say that because I have a lot of colleagues na bumabalik talaga sa audit after spending some period in private companies.  If you're up to the challenge of having sleepless nights and facing pressure from your bosses and clients, I say take your shot at audit, di mo rin naman kasi masasabi na di mo cya gusto if your don't at least give it at try.  ;)

And by the way goodluck in reviewing for the board exams, pray a lot and stay focused sa review. And maganda rin na iniimagine mo na yung sarili mo as a CPA na. =)
