Teaching as career

 I am a part time instructor in a university. Emotionally rewarding but for compensation.....

I havent been to the school yet but as per what I heard 40K for 30 units, SPED Masterals.  That will be 2 sems or 8 months.

  teaching is my passion, i should say. i got that interest from my mom. ;-)
she's a high - ranking employee for Meralco about 23 years now but she still hopes to teach as soon as she retired. hinahanap - hanap nya e.

anyway, i just strated my EIA ( English Instructor Associate ) career. Pursue this path if your really into it. Don't settle with this type of job just because you want to try or got curious about it, became tired to work in call centers or what have you. Teaching is never an easy job.

Plus tip as well, choose a company who's established and for long term goals. They can pay 8 - 18k. As per my case, I wanted to be serious with this path and further develop my skills in teaching and probably, to make a change in someone's life too.

that's why im scared...anxious, excited and happy all at the same time...buffet of emotions....because i just resigned from my job as a trainer after 4 years. and finally pursuing a job as a gradeschool teacher. it took me a year to make this decision. and until now i can't blame people for giving me a look that says "are you crazy?? your life is so comfortable blah blah blah...and you're giving it up for what?"

but i honestly really want to be a teacher...not just certiified by one company...but licensed and recognized by the country (binibining pilipinas answer?  )

nagturo din ako for six years, college level.  i left the university kasi feeling ko wala na akong ma-i-input sa mga students ko, and dumating din ang time na na-burn out ako.  and so i joined the IT industry.  nagugulat ang mga peers ko pag nalalaman na i was an associate professor before and they would start calling me 'mam' na. hahaha.  they would also ask kung may plan ako na bumalik sa teaching, and i would always say 'YES'.

iba kasi pag nagtuturo ko by the book and sharing to them what really happens sa totoong mundo   pag balik ko, 'am sure na mas marami na akong mai-s-share sa kanila lalo na't ang field namin, pabago-bago: Computer Science  / Info Tech.

very rewarding ang magturo.  tuwing graduation, jologs pero naiiyak talaga ako, lalo na't nakikita kong guma-graduate yung mga sakit ng ulo ko ... ahahah ... yung feeling na - "hay, finally, it pays off."

and yes, pag teacher ka, you dont know kung hanggang kailan ang influence mo sa students mo.  calling talaga ang pagtuturo.  kasi i stayed for six years na ang sweldo ko that time is tax ko na lang ngayon.  pero masaya ako that time, that's why i stayed.

dami kong students na naging barkada ko na at kumare pa. ahahaha.  may mga students din akong nagtuturo na.

  may mga memorable scenarios ba kayo habang nagtuturo?  ako lahat ng bagong klase na nahahawakan ko, binibigay ko ang question na 'to during one of pop quizes sa class: TRUE or FALSE -- Sexy Ako.  eh, 'am on a heavy side, so ang mga students ko, taranta sa pagsagot.  hehe, may mga sumagot na TRUE, meron ding FALSE.  syempre ang sagot is TRUE! ahahaha.  naalala ko pa, sagot ng isa sa mga students ko -- "based on greek mythology, yes, ma'am, you're sexy" ... winner ang sagot. hehe

its good to discover na meron pala site na ganito where i can learn a lot.  me, i'm also a frustrated instructor. gusto ko sana yon part-time prof. sa college, teaching "finance or accounting" after office work.

so unfortunate na di ko mahanapan ng time to take the required units for me to teach

tumwag ako dati sa student ko, first thing sa class kamustahan... eto ang usapan..

ME: hi jenny! how are you today?
JENNY: I'm happy!
ME: really? why are you happy?
JENNY: because.. is the mother is the happy, is the brother is the happy, I'm happy! 

Jenny is a low beginner student.. She's only seven so her voice sounds really cute over the phone...

one time, tumawag naman ako sa kapatid ni Jenny.. We're almost done with the class when he asked me a question..

ME: joohan do you have a question?
JOOHAN: teacher, I have question. Ah no! mother question! (his mother has a question)... teacher are you beautiful?
ME: (phone english kami so di ako nakikita ng student ko) ah.. uhmm.. joohan, tell your mother your teacher is beautiful..
JOOHAN: really?! okay...

hehe... parang ayaw pang maniwala sinabi ng maganda ako eh...!

nope. eastwood, libis. may naag ooffer skin sa ortigas sis. man to man for 4 hours ... i'm thinkimg if i ill go for it... as extra income...and you, saan ka sa ortigas?

Where do I get the TOEFL, IELTS, etc exam? Super interested kase ako. Sana someone could help me, and answer these questions.

reading your post makes me want to go back to teaching.

i have a degree in educ and i'm even finishing my MA. i hope i find a teaching job. my worry is that i only have a year's practicum as my teaching experience. but i have a teacher's license. feeling ko kasi hindi na ako marunong magturo since it's been years since i last faced a class. but i guess it helps that i was also a trainer for a couple of years in my previous job/s.

I've been an English Instructor Associate for two years now. Kung sa Koreans po ang tinutukoy niyo, katulad ng sa akin, actually walang pinipiling course.. may mga kasama akong magagaling pero nursing graduates sila... you'll be effective if you have multi-tasking skills.. Actually wala po akong kahit anong certificates pero natanggap naman ko... madali lang matutunan yung work... Ang alam ko may nag-ooffer dito sa ortigas, sa Taipan Palace bldg.. yung British ___ council... di ko maalala.. nakita ko yung flyer  sa friend ko.. nag-inquire siya 9000 daw yung exam saka yung ibang reviewers yata...

pero mas maganda sa tingin ko, get a masteral degree... Master of Arts in Teaching English Language (MA-TEL) meron sa PUP or UP...

physics teacher ako..noon masaya kahit pagod walang reklamo..alam ko na may purpose ako and may sense ang ginagawa ko unlike now..matapos lang sa pag aaral ang mga kapatid ko ill resign sa callcenter,,im not scared na bumalik sa dati ang sweldo kasi nandyan ang tutorial para bumack-up,or pwede din naman na fulltime teacher-part time tutor and callcenter agent..
