sis, karamihan po ng online teaching ngayon walang webcam.. you will just call the student at a certain time or their preferred schedule, have class and evaluate their performance. I've been doing online teaching for almost 2 years now... madali kung sa madali ang trabaho kaso mahirap ka-work ang ibang koreans...

you must be good at multitasking (typing, talking, listening) because this is real time. You have to finish your evaluation as soon as the class is finished because there are consecutive classes. usually evaluations should have corrected sentences, good sentences, mispronounced words, expressions used and your overall evaluation. maraming ita-type as in! Most online classes are 10-20 minutes only. Sounds short right? But if you're student won't talk to you it  seems like hours. parang gusto mo na hilahin yung timer para matapos na.. you'll be using books too. Some have actual books and some have uploaded books..

regarding the pay, okay naman.. salary ranges from 10k - 16k depending on skills and qualifications... with monthly incentives pa...

I'm thinking of teaching Koreans written and spoken English in my free time.  How can I get clients without applying in a certain company?

sis you can get a skype account. you can work at home if you have good internet connection, headset and webcam. You will just call them using this skype messenger thing.. I don't know kung pano yung kita mo, so I suggest check ka rin ng companies na nag-ooffer ng homebased online teaching... kasi pag ganun, sila na bahala sayo at magbigay ng students mo, basta tatawag ka lang, para lang kayo nagcha-chat tapos every payday ka lang pupunta dun sa office para kunin yung sweldo mo...

^Ah ok sis. If I understand it correctly, mga 10-20 minutes ang class per student depending on how long the lesson is or kung nagets agad ng student. Parang call center ang set up pero ako being the tutor will call the student and then we will be like reading or studying a material that we both can see online. Tapos after the call, dun ko siya bigyan ng evaluation. Tama ba sis? Hehe. Ala kasi akong idea kung paano ang set up dito.

^^ sis, student ang pumipili ng sked nila depende sa kanila kung gusto nila ng 10 or 20 mins na class.. and tama ka sis par lang kayong nagbabasa habang magkausap.. tanong tanong lang tapos evaluate mo na sila... pwedeng after or during the class.

^Oh thanks sis. One last question (sets of questions pala... hehe, pasensiya na po) na lang po kasi I'm really interested to apply for this position too. Paano ako makakakuha ng students? Merong ibibigay ba sakin ang supervisor ko tapos ako ang tatawag sa student to start our lesson? Mga ilang students usually in a shift? And may ilang sessions din ba with each students?
Usually ang mga ganito catered for Korean students diba? Ang shift for morning is 5am-2pm tapos sa pm shift naman 2pm-11pm and mon-fri lang ang working days, right? Thank you so much.

^ Yes sis, usually may mga TL or TC na tutulong sa ito, pero you have to do everything by yourself... yung mga korean agents ang mag-aasign ng students sa iyo.. so far ang pinakamarami kong students ay 32.. madami na yun kasi sunod-sunod yung tipong walang hingahan... sa PM shift ako kaya marami.. sa AM shift marami na yung 10.. kaso yung mga performance incentives hindi makukuha sa AM since konti lang nga ang students.. by the way, meron ding tinatawag na level test. It's like an interview... hindi pa mga students yung tatawagan mo, prospective students pa lang...

depende rin sa student nila kung ilang class in a week ang gusto nila, yung iba twice or thrice a week lang, yung iba naman daily yung schedules.

Mondays-Fridays lang po working days... pero kahit holiday dito may pasok kami...

Choe Ji Eun - 17:10 - MF

Tapos may sarili silang book depende sa level nila.. during level test magrerecommend ng book na appropriate sa level nila..

Wow! Thank you so much sis. Try ko naman magturo lalo na kasi I'm taking up certificate in teaching program.
May nabasa ako sa kabilang thread na way better daw ang maging online teacher than working in a usual call center.
I'm sure may training naman bago maisabak sa work.

^ definitely, there is. hindi naman agad isasabak kasi maraming kailangang matutunan pati paggamit ng database. And true, mas okay magturo kaysa sa call center. nagcall center din ako dati pero ayoko ng idea na minumura ka ng kausap mo at binabagsakan ng phone. Dito ikaw ang may authority, dahil ikaw ang teacher. you can talk about anything under the sun... pwede rin magkantahan lalo na kung kids ang students mo.. btw, may mga oldies din na students.. minsan nakakainis kasi sila pa ang hindi makaintindi.. magaling pa yung mga bata.. pero patience lang.. good luck sayo sis.. I just finished 18 units CTE (Certificate in Teacher Education) at FEU.  I am a Comm Arts graduate and I've been working in a call center for more than 5 years now.  Luckily I was able to enroll before they change the curriculum from 18 units to 30. Yahoo!

No, I'm not bored working for call centers.  Actually I love what Im doing and I love the pay.  

The reason why I wanted to become a teacher is because I believe it's my calling.  I wanted to be a SPED teacher.  First, we are a family of Teachers.  My mom is a teacher, my grandma was a teacher and all other aunties, cousins and other relatives are teachers.   Second, I believe I have the skills to become an effective teacher because I see that as a result of my countless coaching with my agents.  Lastly,we were blessed to have a child with special needs.   Needless to say, it's a calling.

Now, I am preparing to take up fast track SPED this coming June. Pahinga muna this summer. Hirap pag sabaying and studies and work and family.

I have mixed feelings about leaving my current job basically because of the only issue in teaching -- the pay.  Can't afford to give up what I'm earning now and start from scratch.  With God's blessing I hope to help special kids soon.  Wish me luck!!!

hi!  full time high school teacher here.  I teach english at a catholic school.  my parents aren't actually proud of what I do.  Eh likas lang akong pasaway talaga, besides I really enjoy being with my students. Pero they have a point:  maliit talaga ang sweldo ng teachers.

Material compensation vs emotional/social rewards?  I'd go for where I'd be happier.

hi sis! my cuzin got a text message to come in your office for interview and exam but the texter did not indicate the office address. when my cousin replied to ask for the office address hindi na sila nag reply man lang. bat kaya ganun?  tsaka sis ask ko lang, bakit ang liit ng salary offered? akala ko kase parang call center ang laki ng sweldo sa ESL teacher.

i'm currently a SPED teacher! passion ko kasi kaya eto, i left my work sa family business namin to follow my heart...i don't have any educ units yet but i'm taking my MA in Counseling Psych...tinanggap naman ako ng SPED school namin! so far, i am having sooo much fun teaching special children! challenging yet very rewarding talaga...well, it's not financially rewarding (at least in the Phil) pero masaya naman ako sa ginagawa ko...
