A TOUCHY AND TRUE STORY OF MY 4-YEARS-OLD SON AND HIS PET (GUINEA PIG)
I am a 29-years old mother of a 4-years-old son, he is my only child. I am separated with his dad and with him for almost 4 years already, my son lives with his dad. I just visited my son whenever I have a chance to visit him. He lives in Manila.
I visited my son yesterday, October 4, 2007 / Thursday. Whenever I visited him, I picked him up in the morning in their condo and then, we will go to the mall nearest to his place. He loves amusement games (Timezone), playing with other children in the mall, buying toys, eating in his favorite fast food chain that have toy meals, and buying foods of his choice. We are at the mall from morning until early evening, then go back in their condo, then I will leave his place around 7:00 - 9:00 pm. That is our routine every time I visit him.
On our way going in a mall (Glorietta), I told my son, that we will go to the animal/ pet stores, which is far in Glorietta, because my youngest sister, asked a favor to me, to buy for her a pair of rabbit and a pair of hamster in Cartimar. When my son knew that we will going in a pet stores, he is really excited and he really likes to go in a pet stores. He always asked if there are really many animals there, and I said, yes. I really saw him happy, coz he really likes to go there. I told my son, that we will go to the pet stores on the afternoon after we go in Glorietta. When we are in Glorietta, my son always ask me if we will go already in animal stores… What I did is, we went in a pet shop inside the Glorietta, and that pet shop is only one pet shop in that mall. I told him when we are already in this pet shop, that the animal stores that we will be going are really have more animals compare in that pet shop. Then my son still keep asking me if we can go already to the animal stores. So, we lived the Glorietta at 3:30 pm, to go to the Cartimar, which has many pet stores. While we are on the cab, my son always asked me, if we are already near to the pet stores, that’s how he is really excited to go in a pet stores. It is raining on our way going in Cartimar. When we are arrived in a Cartimar, we window shop first for the animals, my son really amaze with what he sees. It is his first time and also my first time to go in a pet shops in Cartimar. Then we saw this particular store for what I’m really going to buy. I saw there a cute pair of rabbit and a cute pair of guinea pig. I really felt happy when I saw those pairs. My son also likes very much the guinea pig and the rabbit. I make reserved to that pet store a pair of rabbit, then I told the store attendant, that I will be back in her pet store to buy the rabbit and the guinea pig, because I still like to visit the other pet stores. When we are visiting other pet stores, my son is so persistent to go back already to the pet store where we saw the rabbit and the guinea pig, it is raining that time. So, we went back to that pet store, I bought a pair of rabbit and a pair of guinea pig for my youngest sister. I bought guinea pig instead of hamster because guinea pig is cuter than hamster, remember, my sis request is a hamster. And my son also likes me to buy him a guinea pig. I really saw in him, that he really like so much the guinea pig. He saw many kinds of animals in Cartimar, but what only caught his attention is a guinea pig. So I bought him a guinea pig, a cage, food of that pet and a stuff for that pet. When we lived the Cartimar, it is raining. I really find it hard to leave that place because it is raining, then my both hands have baggage (left hand the foods and stuffs of pets and in right hand a pair of rabbit and a pair of guinea pig). And my son carry the cage of his pet guinea pig. Then we about to ride in a cab, my son fell on the floor of the cab, coz the cab’s floor is wet because of rains. I cant hold him coz, there are baggage on my both hands. My son helped by a passenger to stand up to the cab when he fell on the cab’s floor. When we are inside the cab, going back to his house, my son keep and always talk to the guinea pig. He says repeatedly and many times to the guinea pig, “Guinea pig, I’m gonna really take good care of you very well.†But he said it in tagalong version. He asked me so many times, what is the name of that pet coz he always forget the word guinea pig. I told him to give name the guinea pig, so that he can remember the name of his pet. I suggested him a name, I said to him, the name of his pet is Rain, coz it is raining when we bought the guinea pig. He refuses to give a name and the name I gave. He prefers to call the pet a guinea pig. When we arrived in their condo, my son’s younger half- brother also likes and happy when he saw the guinea pig. So, my son and his half-brother are both delightful in guinea pig. When we arrived in their place, His dad and his stepmom is not yet in their condo. After 15 minutes of our arrival in their condo, I received a cell call to from his dad, telling me that his maid texted him that I bought a pet for my son. My ex-hubby asked what is the pet and then told me, not to leave the guinea pig in his condo, coz he did not like to have pet in his house. I told him, his son really likes that pet. Then my ex-hubby also spoke to my son, and told him to allow me to bring with me the pet when I leave their condo. My son agree, because he is scare with his dad. I also don’t object with my hubby’s decision to bring with me the pet coz, I am aware already that my ex-hubby has a sharp tongue. The truth, my son really did’nt like me to bring the pet, he really love the guinea pig, because I asked him so many times, if he really did’nt like me to bring with me his pet, and yes, he did’nt like me to bring his pet. His grandma always told to my son, that his dad did’nt like to have pet in their house, because of that, my son, got angry to his grandma, he carried the cage and the cage drag to me by my son, and he looks so mad with his grandma. To pacify my son, I told him, if I go back to visit him again, im gonna bring his guinea pig, so that he can still saw his pet. He agreed on that, so he is willing already to bring with me his pet when I leave their condo. So the whole time that I am still in their condo, my son’s and his half-brother full attention is in guinea pig, they keep touching and watching the pet. When I left their condo, when I was already outside their condo, my son shout at me and ran to me, then he HUG the cage… IT REALLY BREAKS MY HEART!!!, I CRIED! It really touch my heart, I really sympathize with my son and with his pet. Until now, it keeps linger in my mind, and I still cry… Because I really saw the happiness in my son’s face when he is still with his pet. Im still affected (cry and sad) at present with that incident…..
I decided to sold my son’s guinea pig, coz I don’t wanna see anymore that pet because I don’t wanna remember the sad memories of that pet…..
