i noticed that most of the replies here just answer "owned" or "rented" so sana kung ok lang sa original poster, i'll add a question. so this is probably the longest post in this thread.

what are your considerations in buying a house? ako kase, i'm getting married soon, and #1 consideration ko ang location, dapat malapit sa work ko. kaya lang, hanggang may magandang offers from other companies, i've been moving work places, from ortigas to pasay to pasay, and soon in makati.

i asked for my mom's opinion on this, she said that we probably rent muna. para hindi naman kame ma-hassle, rent a space na semi-furnished para d kame mamo-mroblema mag hakot. don't get me wrong ha, my mom would also love us to have our own home, pero unless things are stable, sa tignin nya, this is a better option. i agree with her, btw.

Actually, sa amin kasi ni hubby, ang main consideration for buying a house will be: nagbabaha ba sa area? Symepre ayaw namin ng baha... May tubig ba? If meron, 24 hrs ba o may oras.

Kasi if location ang pagbabatayan mo, mahirap maghanap kasi normally the locations you like, mahal na. Sa amin basta hindi nagbabaha, may tubig, and accessible. Kasi sayanan din naman ang lugar. And ikaw na rin naman ang may sabi, nalilipat ka rin ng work.

No problem naman with renting, kaya lang maganda pa rin syempre, if may money naman kayong pang down, maghanap ka na rin ng house which you can own. Sayang din naman kasi yung ibabayad sa rent, di naman mapupunta sa inyo. E if naghuhulog ka sa housing loan, yung house mapupunta sa inyo, 10 or 15 years later...

im living with my parents who OWNED the house... but experienced renting a place mahirap..kababayad mo lang ng rental for the month, next month payment agad ang iisipin mo ulet...for 3 years,3k every month so more than 100k ang lumabas na pera,realization comes sana sarili house ko na lang ginastos kesa napunta pa sa iba ...what more pa kaya sa ang monthly rental is 5k - 15k a month? cant imagine ....

we rented for 20 years but now we bought a house na. narealize namin na pinapayaman lang namin ang landlady.

first thing we considered was the neighborhood. madami bang tambay sa kanto? may ilaw ba ang mga posts pag gabi? malinis ba ang kalsada? second was accessibility. malapit ba sa market, hospital, malls? third was on the house mismo. ilang rooms ba meron? namaximise ba nila ang land area?

my family in Iloilo never rented a house or land. since I came to manila for college, ive been renting. i know for a fact that I won't stay or live here for good so there's no reason to buy. now that i'm settling down, we plan to purchase a house in san francisco
