has anyone here used Avant browser? im using it as my default browser and its much faster & better than IE but i have trouble working offline it hangs-up. i wanna try opera since magaganda ang reviews. also im using an old machine P3 processor. hindi ba malakas sa memory ang opera? how fast does it load pages on a dial-up?

opera user din po .. pero im still using my ie, for some webprogram testing and firefox as well.

almost everyday nagpapalit ng skin, depends on my mood hehe lukaret kasi

mas gusto ko rin ang opera kesa firefox and ie. may speed dial feature kasi. plus built-in na ang mail client. but i also use firefox just in case may mga websites na di pwede sa opera. and i like the new version of opera.

Try lowering Opera's RAM cache. If you're using Opera 9.5, especially, the new speed optimizations tend to consume more memory.

On Opera, click Tools > Preferences. Click the Advanced tab, and then select History on the left panel. If Memory Cache is set to Automatic, select a lower number from the dropdown list. If your PC has 512 MB of RAM or less, use 20 MB. If 1 GB or more, use 40 MB.

Click OK to save the new settings.

pag ba opera gamit mo as a default browser kailangan pang mag delete cookies  temporary internet files etc like what you do in IE?

chey: Yes, Opera has options for clearing cookies and history of visited webpages on exit.

If you want to remove all traces of your browsing session automatically when you close the browser:

Procedure for Opera v.9.50, 9.51

On Opera's taskbar, click Tools > Preferences

Click the Advanced tab

Click History on the left panel

Under Disk Cache, put a check on Empty on exit

Next, click Cookies on the left panel

Put a check on Delete cookies when exiting Opera

Click OK to save.

You're done. Now you don't have to manually clear cache. Opera will clear itself whenever you close the browser.

Using Opera Link, a new feature of Opera Browser version 9.5x

In version 9.50/9.51, Opera has introduced another "first" with their brand new feature called Opera Link.

Opera Link lets you store your bookmarks online (on MyOpera) so you can access your Opera favorites from any computer (this works somewhat like Yahoo! Bookmarks), as well as synchronize them with all your computers that have Opera v.9.50/9.51 installed. It also allows you to sync your desktop browser's bookmarks with your Opera Mini 4.1, if you have this browser installed on your mobile phone.

On Opera's taskbar, click File > Synchronize Opera

If you do not have an account with My Opera Community (MyOpera), you will be prompted to create one.

When you use the sync tool, any changes made to your bookmarks will be reflected on your Opera Link. This makes updating your other Opera browsers very easy, indeed. So let's say you have Opera on your office PC and on your home PC. You can have the exact same bookmarks on both machines by syncing  them.

Personally, I find this feature very useful. I use two computers (a desktop and a laptop) and a mobile phone with Opera Mini. Synchronizing bookmarks hasn't been this easy.

Opera Link is your bookmarks back-up solution. Need to uninstall Opera or reformat your hard drive? Use this feature and you will not lose a single bookmark When you reinstall Opera, just use Synchronize Opera and all your bookmarks on Opera Link will be restored to your browser.

It's no wonder that Opera has been touted as the Mercedes Benz of Web browsers

I've tried Opera last year, and as far as I remember, I find it nifty as it sorts your bookmarks at one page, so you can go visit any of your bookmarked site like a speed-dial. And it previews the site you opened by hovering at it on the toolbar. And it also has the build-in torrent downloader, which I find cool as I don't need any more client for it.

hmmm. I noticed that since i've upgraded, the shortcut for Paste and Go changed from Ctrl+B to Ctrl+Shift+V.
