I drink tea everyday! I used to put in some sugar, pero putting sugar kind of defeats the purpose, so I've stopped. Also, eat more fish than meat, and of course, more vegetables! You can also stop eating rice, but my tita tried that, as in puro gulay lang, medj pumangit yung skin niya, so you really still need to eat rice siguro once every three days, or kung hindi talaga, you can eat it like it one meal per day, pero isang spoonful lang :))

Hi!

I am taking baby steps to eat healthy. Not just for vanity, but for general health.
People who eat unhealthy now suffer different sorts of problems later on. Cardiovascular problem, musculoskeletal, etc
I am trying to cut  down on my white rice, and substitute red rice if possible. Then eat oatmeal (flavored and rolled types) and salad for most meals. I don't deprive myself, like if may bacon, i eat pero max of 2 strips lang para i do not feel so deprived
Can you give suggestions on what to eat???

Pasok na dito yun salad thread
link to salad thread: http://www.femalenetwork.com/girltalk/index.php/topic,215773.0.html

So, aside from salad, ano pa ba? and if you can suggest on where to buy?
Ang hirap kasi humanap na "healthy" foodstore/ "fastfood".

wheat bread with chicken breast and cheese sandwich
any fish (not fried)
beef basta lean cut
nuts (almonds, walnuts)

im not a fan of biscuits. uso kasi sa atin ang diet na "skyflakes". eh carbs din yun.

You can try the ff...
  - Air-popped popcorn
  - Oatmeal (Jamba Juice has yummy options! ;) )
  - Wheat bread with peanut butter
  - Fruits, yogurt
  - chicken breast, fish (tuna, salmon)
  - dark chocolate if you're craving for sweets

- Opt for grilled food than fried or baked with creamy sauces. Wag muna yung oily and fried.
- Stay away from mayonnaise or fatty spreads (i have no prob with this kasi i dont like mayo). Like Subway has nice sandwiches basta be conscious sa filling and dressing. Go for grilled burgers para healthier din.
- No softdrinks or high-calorie drink like frappes, milk tea (or once in a while treat lang sila)
- iwas ka muna sa cakes or baked pastries :P

Marami na rin ngayon na restos specializing in healthy dishes or for vegans. Sugarleaf ata yung sa Buendia then Corner Tree Cafe in Jupiter. I heard about Pipino(?) in QC rin. :)

I will be preparing hubby's food starting tomorrow for his packed lunch, kasi lagi daw siyang bumibili ng sisig sa jollyjeep every day so worried ako sa eating habit niya it is already a bit unhealthy so gagawa ako ng mga meals niya everyday with only 1 cup of rice with complete pyramid nutrition.

If may time ka, brisk walking or jogging.. Or play sports with your kids :)

Buti di ako ganun kahilig sa rice, unless fave ko talaga ulam. Mas mahilig ako sa bread so wheat bread talaga pinipili ko :)

to have a healthy diet, you don't really have to spend that much. i am very thrifty even when it comes to food, but i make sure to eat healthy. this is what i do:

1. bread, i only buy whole wheat including nga pala cereal, pero i only buy them on sale and i buy in bulk. nilalagay ko lang yung mga bread sa freezer.

2. pag mura ang veggies i buy din in bulk. but this is what i do. let's say kale para syang spinach...ang ginagawa ko sa kanya pinapakuluan ko then yung broth nya nilalagay ko sa mga container at pag magluluto ako ay yun ang tubig ko so healthy na sya. i also do the same if ever may chicken kaming natira or pork or beef. lahat ng buto nilalaga ko....parang intsik lang sa kakuriputan di ba.

3. i dont use salt sa kahit na anong lutuin kasi nilalagyan ko na sya ng broth cube madalas so yun na yung salt ko. i also don't use sugar on anything even coffee, we use creamer lang.

4. sa jam we use double fruit and less sugar. or pag season ng fruit dito kumukuha na lang kami then ginagawa kong jam pero sobrang knoti lang ng sugar like 1/4 cup instead of one.

5. we dont drink pop/soda talagang water lang for me and water or milk lang for the kids.

6. instead of meat we use veggie meat, so para syang tokwa na may flavor na chicken or beef then same din pagluluto kaso maliliit lang sya like giniling so ganun lang luto ang gagawin ko. i can make spaghetti with it. kasi we only eat meat like once a month.

7. fruits- ito ang hindi nawawala sa amin, kasi for lunch fruits lang ang kinakain namin. saka mga anak ko di ko masyadong sinasanay kumain ng marami para hindi sila tumaba pero healthy pa rin. sa bahay kasi they can eat  all the fruits that they want or vegetable for lunch pag supper lang kami kumakain ng  heavy meal although hindi pa rin heavy kasi minsan soup lang.

8. sa rice naman we only use brown rice pero sa ngayon 2times a month lang ako nagluluto kasi addict ako sa rice pag may nakita ako uubusin ko sya ng bongga.

-4 kami sa bahay 3 kami adult and 1 kid so yung bunso lang ang kumakain ng tama like breakfast, lunch, supper kaming tatlo na adult we eat anytime during the day pero sabay-sabay kami sa supper.

5.
