mga sis, ask ko lang kung how much range ng roundtrip airfare, economy class lang or kung possible yung cheapest between March to May na travel dates? My uncle kasi is asking me to visit him sa NYC before he retires and go back here in pinas for good. He's got a house there so no prob ako sa accom and tours, sagot na nila lahat for 2 weeks. I'm not sure if enough na yan to visit DC and Boston as well. And if possible pati Niagara. Hehe. thanks!

^That's summertime, so it will be harder to get cheap tickets.  But if you wait for seat promos, you can get ticket to NY for about US$1,500.00. 

Two weeks is ok na for NYC-DC-Boston-Niagara, if not a bit tight.  We did the same route four years ago, we did a road trip from Chicago and back.  Spent about 3 days in DC, a full week in NYC (and NJ since we had relatives there), then road trip to Boston (2 nights only), then short trip na lang to see Niagara falls and the Canada border.

I loved Boston and wished we spent more time there.  DC has so many photo-op attractions, but it's kinda dead in the evening (or maybe we just didn't explore the right places).  We did go on the US Congress and Supreme Court tours that they had, if you can catch that, it's very nice din (we were lucky that we actually saw a session, albeit short, in progress).

I've always bought my tickets from Expedia kasi when I compare with other websites I know e dun sa Expedia ang cheapest. D ko alam kung san pa may cheaper.

I checked Expedia for a 2-week trip MNL to NYC on April 2013, the cheapest economy / coach class is $1,316 via China Airlines with 2 stops (Guangzhou and LA).

^^^sis i suggest you book now. sobrang baba ng airfare. I just checked via Qatar Airways, May 1 lowest is $954.20 and return date May 18 is $889.95.  Also, PAL will be having a direct flight to NYC na, i don't know if when effective yun and how much airfare. The earlier you book, the better.

thanks mga sisses for the replies. tinatantiya ko lang kung nasa how much magagastos sa fare. i'm still working on my finances and ties. plan ko mag enrol ng mba kasi baka mahirapan ako kumuha US Visa. i'm only 26 kasi and single and i intend to travel alone. though i have travel history naman around Asia.

^try different manila based travel agents also aside from expedia.
booking months in advance would also give you cheaper airfare. play around it through any on-line booking just to compare.

suggest that you start your trip in DC then travel north para hindi kayo pabalik balik. 2 wks is alright just plan your trip well.

What we usually do is to fly PAL upto LA tapos fly through any local airline to NYC. BUT, you need to think about your luggages cause most of them, you need to pay for checked-in bags,except for Southwest, free yung 1st bag mo.. But we usually get a cheaper deal by doing that.

^Southwest lets you fly with two checked in bags FREE up to 23kgs each bag.

Whoops, am sorry. I checked their site again, i thought they only spare your first bag! The thing about southwest is you can't have a seat assignment when you check in online. They put you in a group, so dapat mauna ka magcheck in para you can be at group a or b and then makuha mo the seat that you want.. I think it's the cheapest kinda. But the best for me is stil jetblue. Oh i love jetblue!

^If you have a credit card (and don't mind the slightly higher conversion rate), there's no need to bring a lot of cash. Personally, for a 3-week trip I bring only about $1500-2000 as pocket money since I use my credit card for all purchases. 

I suggest you make a rough computation of your possible expenses that you will likely not pay for via credit card.  I think hotels, amusement park tickets and shopping can all be paid for by credit card.  For cheaper expenses like food and transportation, cash may be more convenient.

i suggest that if you go to disney and knottsberry, you can already skip six flags kasi its almost the same, makakatipid ka pa.

$2000 pocket money is already good if you charge major expenses using your cc

^^^ suggestion lang din: don't skip disney's california adventure. especially with the recently opened cars land, the rides are a can't-miss. plus, it's cheaper to go to both parks if you can get the 2-fer ticket ($78 for just one park; $99 for two). yun nga lang, masakit sa bulsa ang parking. $15/day, so bale $30. don't forget to bring snacks too because food inside the parks can be ridiculously pricey. on average, $10/meal.

Depende naman sayo what you wnat to eat. Maybe the first day you want to splurge at a zagat-rated fine dining restaurant-which we never do, tpos the next day, maghotdog or Maghalal ka na lang sa 53rd and 6th. You might want to try Puple Yam in Brooklyn, Filipino yung owner and he gets excited everytime may mga pinoy na pumupunta doon.

But nevertheless do not miss on eating a NY pizza, NY bagel and you must see at least 1 broadway show.. You shouldn't miss that for the world! So magtabi ka na ng mga $150 for those 3..
