^So true. And I hope people really learn to rsvp and follow through it. In one of my friends' wedding, there was 1 table na vacant talaga because none of the guests assigned to that table showed up. Imagine the cost of 1 table good for 10pax. Sana naibigay na lang ng couple to their other friends or family members.

^Diba? It's one thing to not rsvp completely cus you'd know na hinde interested pumunta (although this is very rude) but a totally different thing na mag confirm tapos biglang no show.

Kesa iaccept ang invitation tapos no show naman mas lalong rude attitude un. Sa ibang lugar or lahi big no ang ganyan.

^^Korek! The day of our wedding nakatanggap ata ko ng 3 text na hindi makakapunta hindi ko nireplyan

About the batangas tradition, Madami akong friends na oo sinunod nila tradition meron pa a night before may money dance na. Pero more of thinking nila is mabawi yung nagastos nila sa kasal kaya ang mga ninong at ninang na kinukuha is bigatin plus 2 days ang money dance. Dito ako na sad talaga, yung saya nung wedding is more of pilit nalang kasi thinking nila talaga madami sila makuhang pera para mabawi yung ginastos.

Naisip din namin maglagay sa invitation na if they will give us a gift e we prefer money pero ang ending hindi namin pinalagay.  For me parang tactless ng dating.

I refused to do that.

I agree sis. Let us not expect too much from our guests. And the fact na nagpakasal kayo dapat handa kayo sa gastusin whether mag-ambag or hindi ang bisita ninyo. But I understand din naman ang reasons ng ibang brides here lalo na yung mga naka-base abroad, paano nga naman nila madadala ang mga gifts and most of the time hindi practical ipaship pa and as i have said sayang kapag nagdoble. Pero personally sa akin no problem naman if they will come empty-handed, invited them for their presence and not for the gifts.

Izabelle: Super agree with you and very well said!!!! :)

Let's be honest, sino ba ayaw makatanggap ng cash gift for any occasion? But no need to specifically ask for it. For me, if they want to give cash they will give it din naman. And if they don't give cash that means they wanted to give you something else or maybe recycle an old gift heheh. But we need to be gracious even if the guest doesnt even bring a gift.

hi sis Chili1113, that's one good point!  ;)

but IMHO, i don't think putting your preferred gift on the invitation is tactless especially depending on how you said it in the invite. actually with my bestfriend i gave them spa gift certificates, ang ending hindi nila nagamit because of work schedule and my bestfriend's wife got pregnant just 2 months after. why spa gift certs? kasi yun gusto ko ibigay, yun preference ko. so nasayang lang talaga dahin naexpire yung gift card.

so there, kung sumunod nalang ako with the preferred gift (which was cash) edi hindi sana nasayang ang gift na hindi napakinabangan, and nakaka sad talaga if hindi magagamit kasi syempre nilaan mo yung pinangbili mo for them. and thinking about it now kung ano gagawin ko naman for our upcoming wedding, well it makes sense din naman talaga to just put there your preferred gift, whether gift registry man yan, cash, etc.. it does matter. BUT, you're putting this on the invite naman not to tell your guests na "hey you gotta have gifts". it's not, which is actually also indicated na your presence is really the one we prefer etc etc. honestly i really think depende yun on how you say it, and yung take ng person reading it. that's just me lang ha but really, i totally get your point  :)

Well, kung sa tingin nyo di nila mate-take yun culture nyo, yun tradition nyo, at trip nyo for wedding, wag nyo na lang sila invite, it only means di nyo talaga sila friend. :)

Back to topic:

Not really the 'worst' pero sablay talaga. Wala silang coordinator. During the reception, ang tugtog: Total Eclipse of the Heart (Once upon a time I was falling in love. Now I'm only falling apart. There's nothing I can do, total eclipse of the heart.) ;D ;D

Yan lang tanda nyang song. Pero yun ibang songs daw very inappropriate for a wedding.

Hahahaha ang kulit ng Total Eclipse of the Heart! ;D

I know a wedding na may isang staff sa hotel ang na-assign sa reception music. I think they made a mistake since only 7 songs were played, and those songs were meant for the couple entrance, first dance, cake cutting, etc... :o

This! Completely agree, and yes it really depends on how you communicate it.

I don't think there's any harm in putting the couple's preferred gift on the invitation. For us brides, we only have to keep in mind that the note should be there just in case the guest feels like bringing a gift for the couple. It should not give out that tone that the guests are obliged to bring a gift (unless they're cheap to say "Dala ka ng gift sa wedding. Kung wala, wag ka nang pumunta" or the like).

Most of my friends na nag wedding out of town (or in their provinces) advised us not to give gifts anymore cus yung effort and expenses ng travel is more than appreciated. But of course, nagdala pa din kame kahit small gifts lang except for one na based overseas.

I don't see anything wrong with indicating cash as preference especially kung overseas couple sila. Even with the money dance, wala naman issue yan. Ang tacky kase yung additional monetary games/gimiks during the reception na parang nagiging auction na.

I attended my boss' wedding a few years ago and while it was such a beautiful ceremony, mejo nagging issue samin yung tagal ng time difference between the ceremony and the reception. There was a 4 hour time gap. It was held in Tagaytay and sobrang nagutom kame so we ended up eating elsewhere and hinde na kame gano nakakain sa reception. This was the only wedding na na-attendan ko na may malaking time gap yung ceremony and reception.

Trulaloo!

Mas gusto namin maka attend sila kahit walang gift. Nilagay namin "Your presence at our wedding is present enough. But if you would like to extent your generosity and offer a gift, monetary gifts would be greatly appreciated"

@shygirlme ok din yung nasa invites ninyo sis very subtle lang yung hint about monetary gifts. Sabi sa invitation niya "We greatly appreciate your gifts but we need cash."

^Grabe naman sis we need cash talaga?
