for us, we didn't meet/interview our photographers (creative stills) in person before booking them. i know our videographer because he was my highschool classmate and i observed all the photographers he worked with and checked their portfolios. i noticed that he worked really well and most often with creative stills and i loved their shooting style - more documentary, less posey. it was really a difficult decision because there are a lot of great wedding photographers in our city and we had the option of getting someone from cebu or bacolod as well.

meeting suppliers in person would be the most ideal thing but if you have constraints like us, we are based overseas, then doing a thorough background check online and poring over their online portfolios would be enough

We also did not get the chance to meet with our photographers before booking them. Our first meeting was during our prenup shoot already. Thankfully, we clicked and they made us comfortable during our shoot. For our videographer, we only met him on the day of the wedding but he was able to make a beautiful SDE for us. Luckily, our photographers & videographer have a good working relationship, too. I guess for as long as you checked their reputation & portfolios and you love their work, you're okay.

hi girls! did all of you meet your potential photographers and videographers before booking them? i booked my p/v based on their portfolios and reviews from past couples. we really scrutinized and compared their works online before booking them but now, im kinda worried coz i didnt meet them first to check our rapport. though my OTD told me that all of my choices are good and nice to work with.

nope prior booking. wala kasing chance sis. puru text, e-mail at fb lang kami nag usap. pero yung first meetup namin is nung prenup shoot, then once ulit nung may pinapirmahan kaming docs from church. Actually [textspeak!] sya i-fax na lang kaya lang gusto ni hubby i-meet sila dahil me inexplain kami dun sa gustu naming concept nung SDE namin, nagprep pa si hubby ng materials, OC much haha. And aprub naman sa p/v supplier so yun ang sinunod nila & happy kami kasi naexecute nila yun. 3rd meeting was nung wedding day na mismo

Ako, before booking my photographer, i visisted her shop and talked with her first. Pero dala ko na din pang downpayment ko, kasi gusto ko talaga sya hehe for the videographer naman, i booked them agad kasi mabilis sila mabook, then 4 months before the wedding, nakipag meet ako sa kanila to talk about how i want my sde to be.

I know, may mga skills talaga sila why we want to book them but for kasi, sinabi ko what songs i want, then choose sila kung ano bagay dun, then yung like ko na previous na sde nila just to give them a background on what output i want to see. They are taking notes by the way

Happy with my photo and video, almost a month na pero everyday ko pa din pinapanood. hehe minsan more than once pa. hehe

Both are vey professional and early to arrive. Guests commented also that they are proffesional and hindi pakalat kalat sa venue while taking their shots, di sila nakaka distract sa ceremony. Pero makikita mo na nakatago sila just to get beautiful, candid shots.

Wala sa plano ko imeet sila pero makulit husband ko. kasi di ko naman alam itatanong ko haha! since nung umuwi ako at wala namam sya eh ako na nakipag meet. Pinuntahan ko sa shop nya kasi gusto makita ng husband ko yung album konting tanong lang. the next day nag deposit ako ng downpayment. Sa videographer ko naman sya nagpunta sa office magmeet kami sa starbucks tapos don inexplain lang nya yung contract at binigyan ako ng malaking discount super nagulat kami sa bigay nya na discount sabi ng husband ko makipag haggle ako pero bat daw laki ng binigay na discount haha nagdownpayment ako agad.

I didn't meet na my photo and video team before booking them =) =) But definitely I will meet them before the wedding to discuss the timeline/schedule-- and give instructions on what kind of video editing I want, and instructions sa photographer about what kind of pictures I want-- I want kasi lots of family pictures, couple and solo portraits VS  more pictures with the entourage.

Siguro check lang if the photo and video team can work together. Because I was surprised, but I did read somewhere that there is this good female photographer that doesn't meld well with a particular video team who is also popular. Hehe as in may tension silang dalawa. Medyo mahirap ata yun on the day itself.

thanks so much for sharing your experiences, girls! truly appreciate it. honestly, i dont know what to tell or ask them except say that my fiance and i find the usual poses/scenarios in wedding photos/videos so awkward to make. of course there will still be a few posed ones but i hope they could help us be more at ease. ive been an entourage member thrice already and i really cringed whenever im asked to laugh or look like im having fun lol. anyway the reason we got our p/v teams because aside from their nice editing that matches our preference, we saw that they capture more candid shots than posed ones.

right now im shy to have a meeting with them alone as my fiance, who is more knowledgeable in photos and films, is overseas. i tried googling their names together and i saw 3 weddings where they worked together. nevertheless, i will still inform and ask them about each other. my fiance is coming for a visit this year and we can meet our p/v a year before the wedding, you think thats too early? or when he comes home a month before the wedding na ang?

Hi rowan: you are in very good hands!! Catilo photos are to die for 😍 and treehouse vids are breathtaking. I guess a month before will do but that depends on the month kasi pag ber months ka for sure they'll be very busy. I agree, meeting them solo is difficult. Lalo na kung medyo shy ka. Also, write possible questions na agad kahit sa phone lang para pag di mo maalala mga sasabihin mo, you can just look at your phone. 😃

Hi mga sis. I need your advice. I planning on getting a different photographer pero naka deposit na ako on another photographer. May chance pa kaya mabawi ko yung deposit or ma transfer to another package?

I suggest you secure your slot first with the new photographer. If he is available ask you existing if they can downgrade for example to prenup nalang. Nagchange din ako ng pv because they handle both nahiya ako to cancel only video. Kaya kinancel ko na lahat.

I wasn't able to get my downpayment buti 3k lang. I booked him on impulse during bridal fair.
Go for the new photographer but make sure u wont change your mind again 😃

Photographers know that these things happen, ask na lang kung pwede prenup or pictorial pero usually they'll ask why. Ang hirap magsinungaling. Wahhh do it now kesa later pa.

Changing of P/V happened to us too. Booked 2 P/V teams due to impulse. Yung una sa bridal fair, ang mura kasi all-in pa yun pero as I continue to do research, may ilang bad feedbacks sila tapos there's this prenup vid they did na ang dilim at itim ng couple, to think na they're using natural light na ha. Maliit lang naDP namin dun Php2k lang so hanap ulit ako. Found our 2nd P/V through foodtasting sa Josiah's at LaPergola. Their albums are impressive, classic ang style nila pero malinaw naman. NagDP ako ng Php10k again without ample research. Hindi naman sa nakulangan or nakakita ako ng bad feedback sa kanila it's just that nakontian ako sa manpower nila on my wedding day. We'll be having 150 guests tapos they'll be sending just 1 photographer & 1 videographer. So parang kulang talaga. Ayun medyo nagdahilan na lang ako & they agreed naman to do our STD na lang. The sked & venue is pending though.

hi sis princessshayera! why are you planning to change your supplier? If you are already decided about your new photographer, I suggest booking them asap. Then contact your original photographer and ask if you can convert the downpayment to another service like prenup. If they're not willing to, I guess you really have to let go of your downpayment because it's usually stated in contracts that downpayment is not refundable. You have to check your contract to be sure

princessshayera - baka you can convert it prenup nalang? Maybe you tell them na one your ninang/ninong or friend will shoulder the expenses for photographer but they want this particular photographer. Sayang naman kamo. So baka pwede prenup nalang yung na down mo or any services they offer.

May ibang SDE akong napanood na ang ganda ng quality ng mga homily excerpt, may iba garbled.
What can we do para maging malinaw ang sound? sa P/V ba yun o sa venue??

Ang gusto ko kasi na sde or any video for that matter, ay yung hindi hihinaan yung back ground music para marinig yung speech eh yun pala garbled din.

di ako magaling dyan sis pero for me I think both. Probably yung sound system mismo, kaya kahit magaling yung videographer kung mismong souns system mismo pangit.

Possible din na ang ganda nga ng sound system pero di ganong maganda yung Mic ni Videographger.

In our SDE, there was no need to lower the volume of the background music when we were saying our vows. The technique used was that the vows were inserted during the instrumental parts of the song.

Regarding garbled sounds, I think it's more of the microphone used by the videographer. Best to check our the videos of your (chosen/preferred) videographer to check the consistency of the sound quality of his videos. If there are problematic ones, then you can probably raise that and ask him to address the issue.

Finally nakapag book na ako ng photographer kanina sa Getting Mariel Bridal Fair. I got Chestknots na talaga and super happy ko na sa bridal fair ko sila binook kasi ang laki ng savings ko (Php24k ata na save ko). Ang ganda din nung bago nilang packaging for their albums na all genuine leather na. Nameet ko din si Jayjay and si Feliz and they are both super nice. Yey, one supplier down na ulit!
