How much is your wedding budget? Part 7

In our case - we asked two of our "big amount" suppliers if they accept checks and they agreed naman. It depends as well on your coordinator. Our coordinator worked with both suppliers and they vouched for us.

For some they really require advance payment. Like our caterer, tents, and make-up one week in advance paid na sila. For more established suppliers like caterers, tents, lights & sounds, medyo okay to pay in advance na sila especially if they are known in the industry. 

For the contingency - I set aside 10K and I was able to use 3K lang. I know a friend who did not prepare contingency funds so ayun nag issue ng mga checks during reception.

Another tipid tip: ask your suppliers if they prefer crew meals or meal allowance. Two of our suppliers had the option of meal allowance. Range was P120-150/meal. It depends where kayo makakamura. In our case, we were able to get a crew meal for only P80 so we provided the food. Sa iba kasi especially doon sa crew meal from the caterer mas mahal lumalabas.

We prepared a buffer 100k in cash for the wedding day because my hubby didnt want me to bring around my blank checkbook. Ended up using up the 5k petty cash plus some more for the caterer.

Hi everyone! I'm a newbie here so I still cannot post a new topic. 😕 but anyway, budget related naman question ko.

For those brides here who used their own money for their weddings, ilang percentage ng savings nyo (individually or joint with husband - if that's the case) ang ginamit or sinet nyo for your wedding? A person's budget kasi is very subjective which I think depending on your savings din.

So im in the initial stage of planning my wedding and can't decide on a budget yet. Of course I am also thinking of the expenses after the wedding like bills and everything.

Hi ItsKat! For us, hindi namin ginalaw ang personal savings namin. We laid out kung how much ang willing namin i shell out per month, then we computed lang kung magkano magiging total nun for the whole duration of prep. Kung magkano total nun, yun yung budget namin for the wedding.

^^Kami sis Nagbigay si husband ng budget. Hindi kasama ang savings may tinabi talaga kami for savings.yung budget nya kasi sa wedding napagipunan na nya. yung sumobra sa budget nya ako na naglabas.

itsKat: Same thing with me and shygirlme. My fiance gave me a set budget for the wedding and honeymoon. I had the option to contribute or not contribute. But I decided to contribute and pay for my gown, entourage gowns. make-up, and styling. That way we could spend more on the honeymoon, and also that way--- no one can make me pakialam with my spending for my gown and flowers too.

Sis belle, bright idea ang "secret bank deposit"!! medyo hesitant kasi ako magfull payment sa suppliers prior to wedding. Ewan ko praning lang na baka di nila bigay / gawin best nila kasi fully paid na. Sorry negative vibes lang. Hehe

Well, ganito kasi set-up namin, we have our own savings of course but we also have our joint account, which we agreed na gagamitin namin for the wedding. Although joint bank account namin yun, I still consider half of it as my savings (50-50 kami dun because we put the same amount every month for 2 years already).

So now that we are actually thinking of our budget for our wedding, ayoko pa din ubusin yung joint account namin just for the wedding.

Any girls out there who have the same sentiments? So back to the question, ilang percentage ng joint savings nyo ang inubos nyo for the wedding?
Sa mga girls na naglabas from their own hard-earned money, mga ilang percentage of your money ang na-willing kayong ilabas for your dream wedding?

^20% ng total budget ng wedding from me. joint account din kami and kinuha lang talaga namin don yun sagot nya from the wedding. sa joint account kasi namin parang don na nakalagay savings from him na saving namin. may sarili akong bank for my own money.

For us almost 60 percent of our savings and 70-30 yung hatian namin because he earns more anyway. We are already married kaya medyo hati talaga. We also invested of buying a condo in the philippines which is sinabay during our wedding preps para hindi sabihin napunta lahat ng ipon sa wedding. Our ipon should be more but we splurge on a long vacations and out of the country trips last year. It was both our dream wedding si hubby pa ata yung nagsplurge dito sa wedding kesa sa akin. He never makes tipid even the gown ako nagkusa to make it minimal ayoko din ng ganun kabonga talaga.I will spend only additional on my wedding band yun lang.

^^^same po, our joint savings di namin ginalaw since it wasn't really intended for the wedding, hehe it's pang family start up talaga. Tsaka almost 1 yr pa lang naman yung joint account namin since we got engaged at 1 yr 2 months. So hindi namin ginalaw. Yung budget that we came up with are all our extra 'expense'. Ayun. Amount-wise, yung nagastos namin sa wedding is about 75% of our savings. Pero inipon namin sya separately

^ for us, we didn't spend anything from our joint account or individual savings. we took the money from our monthly salaries during the 1 year leading up to the wedding. my husband and i shared the expenses 50-50.

Spent 40% of each others personal savings and shared 50-50 too.

Pero habang papalapit.. dumadami ang gagastusan. Haha. Yung nga di namin naisip budgetan dati. Like transpo ng guests particularly relatives coming from the province. We hired 4 hi ace vans para sa kanila. 3,500 each so goodbye 14k na kagad.

Thanks for the replies Girls! Now, I have an idea kung hm more or less ng joint account namin ang gagastusin for the wedding and syempre dapat may matira to start our family.

Pag nagpplan ka na pala saka mo lang marrealize how expensive wedding are nowadays! kaya dapat super hanap ng murang supplier without sacrificing much on the quality of the service!

Hi itskat, syempre di tayo pare pareho ng amount ng savings. And di rin tayo pare pareho ng gusto for our weddings. Some prefer to make their wedding intimate but elegant some have simpler celebrations pero maraming guests. So its all up to you and your fiance kung how much you both are willing to spend for your big day

Naalala ko 300k lang budget namin. Pero nung nagpiprep na kami narealize ng husband ko di talaga kasya kaso mahal church at venue kaya nilakihan nalang nya.

Majority of my savings are invested, and I did not touch them during prep. Our wedding funds (or at least, my share of it) came from my salary in the year leading up to the wedding. Halos inubos ko sya for that. Then save nalang ulit now, this time it'll be our family start up fund for a year or two from now. Luckily for us we didnt have to buy a condo though as that would have changed things. We were lent a condo to use, which we just furnished. Kami na may sagot but few lang naman big appliances.
