which is better kaya?

HMO or Health Insurance??

Maganda if dalawa, kasi the HMO can cover for the cost during hospitalization plus if you have health insurance, you can have another "wallet" for meds, etc. :)

I want to have one, but si hubby parang ayaw. meron na daw kase kame Adam and Eve of Manulife but maliit lang coverage (since we don't have dependent and we don't plan on having one). I think this is different from that although may critical illness na kasama yun.

I got mine from our office....Critical Platinum covers 36 illness also. Pero ang maganda dun sa plan ko pag hindi ka nagclaim after 65 yo makukuha mo ng buo yung face amount :)

This week ko pa lang kukunin yung HealthMax ng AXA. Up to 100 years old and covered both critical & minor illnesses.  Check niyo rin.

Pero, like most of you said, need din ang HMO for check-ups and tests.  I'm considering Maxicare. Parang comprehensive naman siya compared dun sa ibang na research ko.

@m_lim, swit's policy sounds like it might be from Pioneer Life.
I got a proposal from a couple of years ago that's similar.
It's called Critical Rescue Platinum.
It's a little bit expensive though

As far as critical illness is concerned, this is what I know: Sun Life Assure

Traditional insurance product siya na ang main benefit is pang critical illness. Pag na-claim mo na ang CIB, mag terminate na rin ang insurance. Kung nauna naman ang death, the beneficiaries will get the coverage.

The coverage is also equal to the CIB coverage.

Binabayaran ito as long as buhay.

Example in figures:

2M coverage on critical illness or life
with riders (TDB, ADB=2M)
30 yr old Female non-smoker

Annual premium starts at 19,080.00

Premium increases every 5 years. By age 55 ang annual premium na niya is 40,800.00 but that is 25 years from now. Hindi na rin ganun kalaki ang halaga ng 40,800.00 at that time due to inflation.

List of critical illnesses covered:

Critical Illnesses
1. Heart Attack
2. Stroke
3. Cancer
4. Kidney Failure
5. Dissecting Aortic Aneurysm
6. End Stage Lung Disease
7. Progressive Muscular Atrophy
8. Major Burns
9. Multiple Sclerosis
10. Paralysis
11. Total Blindness
12. Loss of Limbs
13. Aplastic Anaemia
14. Bacterial Meningitis
15. Benign Brain Tumour
16. Deafness
17. Encephalitis
18. Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS)
19. Progressive Bulbar Palsy (PBP)
20. Meningeal Tuberculosis
21. Cerebral Metastasis
22. Loss of Speech
23. Coma
24. Parkinson’s Disease
25. Terminal Illness
26. Medullary Cystic Disease
27. Alzheimer’s Disease
28. Fulminant Hepatitis
29. Major Head Trauma
30. End Stage Liver Failure
31. Motor Neurone Disease
32. Guillain-Barre Syndrome

Critical Illnesses Requiring Surgery
33. Major Organ Transplant
34. Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery
35. Surgery for Disease of the Aorta (Aortic Surgery)
36. Replacement of Heart Valve

So far ang mga products na may healthcare coverage ay pang critical illness lang:
- Life Assure for traditional
- Flexilink for VUL

May balita na by Q3 or Q4 this year, mag add pa ang Sun Life ng insurance products na pang healthcare. Inaabangan ko ito actually :) ang next insurance na kukunin ko ay yung pang healthcare coverage. May 3 active life insurance na kasi ako as of date.

Philam has this VUL plan, called Family Secure, with EARLY critical illness riders.

One of the sample plans for me:

32/F
Face Amount: 1.4M starting
Annual premium. 30, 823.68, level premium, til 65
50% EARLY critical illness rider, so 720K
Includes accident and disability rider, medical reimbursement, waiver of premium
Total Premium til 65: 1, 017, 159

I was already 90% set on Manulife, plain term insurance, with critical illness and accident/disability rider
Face Amount: 2M
Total Premiums til age 65:  955, 206

When I compared, parang lumalabas na difference, 60K difference in total premiums, 500K difference in face amount. But with the Philam, may early Critical illness rider plus the face amount rises per year.  It will take a few years only to reach 2M face amount. Plus the CI has 56 illnesses, as compared to Manulife's 35.

So now I'm confused. Lol. Leaning towards the Philam now.

Arghhh so hard to decide.

Follow up to previous post: Family Secure turned out to be a dud. Lol. 25% lang of the benefit will go towards the early critical illness. Which is practically peanuts. Philam agents really ought  to explain things better, but oh well. Caveat emptor. Better to just have a separate investment fund for the health fund. Lesson learned. Lol what was I thinking.

So I therefore conclude that there is no existing plan, whether term or VUL, that will really cover you wholly and adequately, without a huge premium in exchange. So I will go for term nalang. Not that term insurance CI riders can really cover illnesses better, but what the heck. Still cheaper and less complicated.

Yeah, all of those who offer early critical illness coverage will only
give out 25% of the benefit and shared pa to, so every claim bawas
na ang total benefit.

May Critical Illness plan ba na covered ang OFW?
I am an OFW right now, but planning to go back to Phils by 2017 and have a baby. and most probably, I will stay in the Philippines na. I wanted to open a Critical Illness plan na sana habang mas mura pa ngayon at mas bata pa ako. I have Sunlife VUL, but they said they dont have Critical Illness plan for OFW.

Healthmax of Axa is available to OFW's.

So BPI Philam offered me their newest product -- Critical Care Plus. Anyone else heard of this? So it's an investment with insurance plus critical illness.  You can choose from 5,7 or 10yr term. I was very interested in the CIB part which covers 56 illnesses. Contestability period is 90 days and you get paid 14 days after you have been diagnosed. Then premium is waived until the end of your term.

Im also considering getting a critical illness plan but looking at the list of diseases covered I think okay yung list ng Sunlife.. kasama kasi ang Guillen Barre (a friend's mom had this) and 136k/day ang gamot for 3-5 days and no guarantee you'll get well. Thankfully her mom responded well to the meds. Sorry I digress.

Yung worry ko talaga is yung mga very rare illnesses na puwede manyare (like Guilen Barre) and only Sunlife has that I think! Im considering Philam and Manulife. Isip isip talaga I want to start next month na sana.

Mga sis how about Kaiser? Originally kasi im looking for HMO, then mukang ok yung kaiser kasi HMO + Life Insurance + Investment siya. Sa site nila its only 7yrs to pay then for the 7 yrs magfunction siya as HMO then after that ata Payout na siya or reimbursement if needed for medical reasons, then 20 yrs naman pede na kunin yung matured amount, something like that mukang ok kasi hindi mapupunta sa wala yung bayad sa HMO. i will look on this further. Im comparing prices din bet maxicare, medicard and kaiser.
