There are a lot of opportunities lalo na sa edad niyong 'yan.

I learned to answer questions like that, if elderly people ask me bakit wala pa akong girlfriend/asawa, I tell them I'm saving up for a house.

And this is exactly why I despise the culture of "courtship" dito sa aten. Yes, you girls might think it's easy for us guys to court girls, but we get dumped too. And this is also why I don't court girls, I ask them out on dates. How I wish single ladies will change their mindset and ask single, unattached guys out on dates too. I find it very attractive if a girl knows what she wants and doesn't mind doing something to get it. Oo, maghihintay lang ang babae, pero what if ang dumating is hindi nila gusto? Do they settle for less? I hope not. And take note na merong mga babaeng hindi talaga kaligaw-ligaw (e.g. hindi physically attractive, boring, boba and other factors). Kaya unless you do something to meet people, good luck.

^Not all. We girls are hopeless romantic. We still want to be married to the guy we love.

I don't find anything wrong with women making the first move, pero taboo kasi ito sa culture naten. I hope you ladies never settle for less and kung sino-sino na lang available. Always stay positive and 'wag magsettle sa latak.

Kung feeling ng babae na hindi siya totally attractive/pansinin/"ligawin" material and maghihintay na lang siya parati, sayang ang opportunities in meeting new people. But hey, that's just me. To each his own.

This is not true.  Look around you, mas maraming singles na girls na 40yo and up kesa single guys na over 30yo.

I am really not sure pano ko ito basahin.  when you say "puede na" pakasal sa guy na mapera, I would say true.

The other thing that you may be implying is if the guy is not mapera, mahihirapan sya to get married with girls who are high maintenance at nagd-demand ng grand wedding?

I don't find anything wrong with women making the first move, pero taboo kasi ito sa culture naten.

I guess for me I never did this siguro nga because of culture. May reasons why I think women should NOT make the first move.

Una una, men are men. Malay mo mapagsamantala?  Lalapit ka ba at papatuka?  I always believe the guy should make the first move kasi kung babae, hindi mo masabi kung taking advantage si guy o hindi. Sa pov ng guy, sakin na lumalapit, since "puede na naman sya", why not make patol?

It takes guts for a guy to approach us, I would think ha, maliban nalang sa sanay na playboy.  So makikita mo rin kahit papano na pinag planuhan din nya to get to know you.

I hope you ladies never settle for less and kung sino-sino na lang available. Always stay positive and 'wag magsettle sa latak.

Sobra itong importante. Oo, there is always hiwalayan, there is always divorce. Kaya if there is one thing na pinaka importante na decision one has to make - you should marry right. Kasi if you don't, the consequences can be far far more detrimental than you think. Kala mo hiwalay na tapos na?  E pano kung may anak kayo?  It is life changing.  It was 17 years ago when I got married, 6 years ago when I separated.  Pero up until now, I am still suffering from its consequences. Parang lifetime nga e.

So never settle. Marry right.

Kung feeling ng babae na hindi siya totally attractive/pansinin/"ligawin" material and maghihintay na lang siya parati, sayang ang opportunities in meeting new people. But hey, that's just me. To each his own.

Bilang babae, you should never feel unattractive.  Kasi kung feeling mo hindi ka attractive, then always do something about it. Iba parin kasi ang nadadala ng confidence.

^^^

And this is exactly why I despise the culture of "courtship" dito sa aten. Yes, you girls might think it's easy for us guys to court girls, but we get dumped too.

Well, I agree with you on going out on dates, if you really have not found the one you really want to be with.  It broadens your perspective din kasi. I also prefer going out to get to know each other kesa sa ligaw agad.  First you enjoy each other's company and wait if something develops at both kayo willing to take it to the next level - pursue MU, then slowly work from there.

As for getting dump. Naku naman, for guys, yes you can get dumped. Pero that's it.  E sa girls?  Pano if they approach the guy?  Hindi lang dump.  Una una, ang risk that ladies take if they invite guys out --- una, puede din sila mapahiya, mas nakakahiya pa kamo, kasi ikaw nanga babae, ikaw pa nire-reject.  Second, kung hindi naman ikaw i-reject, how do you know that the guy does not have evil intentions, since alam nya na may gusto ka sa kanya, feeling nya, 1 day puede na magBF agad?
So I really do not recommend this route --- unless you are desperate.  As per sis young_maiden, puede isipin ng ibang tao desperate ka - which is kinda true, but never mind what other people think - what do you think as a lady - why ask someone out - kasi wala ka na ibang makitang okay? Iisa nalang ang lalaki sa mundo?   ::)

^^What others may say about you is none of your business. Kung alam mong wala kang ginagawang masama, di ka nanggugulang at wala kang inaapakang ibang tao, I say go ask a guy out. Kung iisipin na parating mapapahiya or any negative stuff, wala talaga.

Muhammad Ali once said, "He who is not courageous enough to take risks will accomplish nothing in life." And I believe it applies to love, too.

fredprinz and girltalker2,

wala pa ako courage to ask a guy out. hehe. sabi ko nga sa isang thread ko i grew up with a low self-confidence pero inaayos ko na. nag-ayos ako. naging friendly. i got so many compliments from other people including guys. pero ang magyaya sa guy lumabas? parang di ko pa rin keri yun. hehe.  kaya ko magyaya dun sa mga guy friends ko na purely platonic lang at dapat kkb kami. pero yung within the context of dating? hmmm... sorry di ko kaya. takot ako mareject.

kaya ko mag initiate ng friendship with guys. actually mas madami nga akong friends na lalaki kaysa babae eh. pero wala pa ako guts i-move sa next level unless may first move from them.

@argento

God bless :)

I'm 26 and I'm single. I came from a painful heartbreak 2 months ago. Now I'm just enjoying life. Work keeps me busy which is a good thing kesa naman magmukmok ako. I have many plans for the next year at isa na dun ang magtravel overseas.

My friends keep on telling me na mag-asawa na. Ayoko na magpapressure. I did before and it just led to heartbreak. Ayoko na magmadali, ayoko na magsettle. Masarap kayang maging single!
