@px17 OMG YOU WERE ONE DECISION AWAY FROM EUTHANIZING YOUR PET?!?!?!? That's sooo scary sis, buti nalang talaga nagpa2nd opinion ka... Thanks for sharing your experience, magpa.2nd opinion talaga ako. I can't imagine being told my a vet na i.euthanize nalang yung cats ko omg. I hope he/she gets better.

Mga sis, yung isang cat ko super picky eater. Gusto lang uminom ng sabaw sa sardines. (not tomato sauce lang, dapat tomato sardine sauce) and wet catfood. What's the cheapest option to feed him?

I lost two cats to kidney failure  Apparently ito yung no. 1 disease ng mga cats because of their diets and di sila mahilig uminom ng tubig. Our regret lang is too late for our two cats before we learned how to spot and care for cats with kidney disease.

Now all our senior cats (from 7yrs onwards) go through regular blood checks. They're given daily doses of Nefrotec, a kidney supplement. Three of our seniors get two doses daily and one goes through sub-Q threatments of 100ml sodium chloride daily. So far, we are managing their creatinine levels within normal range except for the one na naka subQ but at least hindi na ganun kataas yung crea level nya. Naka renal diet na rin sila. I also got our cats water fountains to encourage them to drink more water.

@teejiko yes sis the doctor suggested to change her diet to Hills prescription diet k/d. though expensive siya I really dont mind na basta she gets better. Her food pala before ay friskies and whiskas both wet and dry.  The vet told me na  mataas msyado sa protein kaya dapat palitan though hindi naman yun yung main cause ng kidney disease niya. May factor narin ang age.

@sis minatay yes super SCARY!! as in sa lahat pa ng ayaw kong marinig yun pa sinabi. Kaya todo iyak ako. Pero alam mo from dating bilib na bilib ako sa doctor sa PAWS medyo nawalan ako ng tiwala kasi HELLO di mo pa nga blinoblood chem cat ko euthanize agad?? Hindi ba pwedeng  let's try all options whatever man umepekto sakanya.  Kakainis lang.

@sis mama squeak good to hear namamanage mo na senior cats  mo. This  past few days I can see improvements sa cat ko, hopefully she gets better.  2 vets told me pala na hindi pwede sa cats with kidney problem ang lactated ringer solution pero sa PAWS yun ang nilalagay.  On SubQ  din cat ko every 3 days plus daily oral supplements (Renacare and Sangobion).

Question: Totoo ba na kapag buntis ka masama daw mag clean ng cat litter? Magkaka miscarriage daw...

^narinig ko din yan. If you're preggy sis nako iutos mo nalang palinis. Ang sure lang kasi ako hindi masama sa preggy ang pets.

never heard of. Ano connection? What I know lang the presence of toxoplasmosis organisms that is dangerous daw to preggy women. Siguro if preggy ka, don't stay near the kitty litter and dont clean up after the kitty. Avoid cat contact lang... and have someone else clean up after the cat.. avoid the butt and paws (or at least wipe them) if you do come in contact. Wash hands always after in contact with a cat. pregnant women are at risk sa toxoplasmosis

mga sis... please help... I have a 1 month old baby kitten who got hit by an object and now cannot use his hind legs... he now suffers from excessive diarrhea and he just drags his back legs around. I suspect spinal cord injury and paralysis.

I havent taken him to the vet yet because of many reasons:

Prognosis is slim - possibility of respiratory failure and permanent paralysis
My kitten is so young
I'm afraid of being slapped by a 5k-10k bill
I'm afraid of the euthanizing option

Does anyone know any home treatments? How can we manage him at home? I simply do not have the budget for a 5k-10k treatment for a tiny kitten (assuming the lab tests)... 3k is the max I can go due to budget constraint...

I'm so invested in my kitten na I've been crying for hours just looking at him walk up to me and follow me around with his limp legs... sobrang sakit sa puso... Is the vet a non-negotiable?

hi sis! sorry to hear about what happened to your kitten. how about sa PAWS, sis? have u tried calling or going there and ask for help? i heard or read before na may in-house vets sila. hope your kitten will be treated soon and hope s/he's feeling well. 🐈🐈

^ hi sis I appreciate your response! Unfortunately, PAWS is only in Manila  and they don't have other branches, especially not in my place...

I don't know if there are other societies like these outside of MNL. I looked at my options and so far I was quoted a MINIMUM of 5k due to the xrays being 1.2k and blood tests being 2.k -ish... Do you know any other non profit societies like PAWS sis? I tried the pound but they don't offer emergency care...

I'm torn between what to do... am I losing time because I didnt take her to the vet for emergency care?

So far she's been sleeping a lot... I'm scared and always checking her breathing

^ sige sis... Honestly, I'm torn by the advice I'm getting on the internet and the ones I want to believe.

My kitten is paralyzed waist down, he walks like this:

minus the box thingy... And he poops diarrhea everywhere. Almost all the sites demand him to be seen by the vet... pero at the same time, some recommend home care and therapy... TT.TT for obvious reasons, I'd choose the home care, but I feel so anxious about the vet thing... So far the haggling and negotiating worked sis, from 7k, I got an offer of 3k... I wonder if it's okay na I will INSIST na I don't want blood tests done... I just need Xray, checkup, casting and meds.

I guess parang di ko pa na.accept na there is a possibility na I will have a paralyzed cat forever with special needs, and from what I've read, this is painful for them daw and they're better off euthanized!!

^go na sis with the 3k offer before its too late. at least ma-check agad kitten mo and malaman mo ano dapat gawin. wag naman euthanasia, sis. let her die on her own and if that is the will of God. marami namang paralyzed cats na lumalaking maayos. do not lose hope sis. gagaling din kitten mo. please don not consider euthanasia.

^ yes sis... I booked an appointment na sa vet. medyo hirap siya ma.catch kase indemand due to the reasonable prices... imagine nalang how many people wanted that vet... ehhe

Thank you sis, I'm not losing hope, thank you sa encouragement. I am reading articles na kittens have an amazing ability to heal, and I hope sa spinal cord ganun din... If in pain lang din siya, kase yun ang reasoning na why daw dapat i.euthanasia [put them out of their misery]  I'd rather put her on painkillers and let her die on her own.... I guess...

Thank you sis... I'll keep you updated if you are interested. So far, lively kitty talaga siya na fond sa humans. Not shy at all..

She's eating wet food, and I put her on Recovery kase ito daw best food for them...

update: spinal injury is the diagnosis. Kitty needs our help for rehab requiring our help with daily 3x a day na exercise, nerve supplements, and manual stimulation for poop and pee with cotton due to lack of sensation.
Got anti inflammatory meds for kitty's condition.


Weird, the doc recommended nerve supplements but failed to issue me a prescription for one. hihi. Anyone know a good cat supplement with high dose of B12? I heard this vitamin is the best for nerves...

Update.. It's been 2 months since the injury.. kitten doesn't know how to pee in the right place yet.. he's my only stinky cat. Mga sis, any advice? How to train him to pee in the right places? ang baho ng house namin because of one kitten

My sister has 1 cat hanggang sa dumami at naging 6 na.  I love cats but I'm worried kasi kasama sa bahay sa baba ako natutulog kasama ko sila. Yung poopie nila sobrang baho to the point na tatayo ako kahit midnight ba para linisin sila hindi ko talaga matake ang amoy pati yung pee nila mapanghe. My parents warned us na pwede daw magcause ng meningitis yun dun pa naman ako natutulog. Hindi din namin pwede ilagay sila sa cage sa labas ng house baka pagtripan sila kawawa naman. I'm just worried about our health din may kasama pa naman kami bata. I talked to my sister parang wala lang din to think na nurse sya dapat alam nya yung risk. naawa lang talaga ako sa mga cats at hindi ko matiis sila. Ako kasi naiiwan sa bahay at sobrang busy ng kapatid ko sa work pag-uwi pagod na sya no time to clean them na. Kung may kakilala lang kami nearby  na cat lover din ipapaampon ko na lang sila. Halos oras oras need ko maglinis hindi tumatalab yung vinegar sa pee nila.  Ano ba magandang food pwede ipalit? cannee foods kasi sila always, like feline gourmet pag naubusan ng stocks dry food sila Special cat food. Madalas na din ako makaramdam ng flu like symptoms suspetya ko sa cats din ito. Nakakapagod na din kung di lang ako naawa sa kanila
