Hello sisses..  Need your advise with regards to itinerary for 5-6 days on Dec 26 to 30 or 31, 2013.  As early as now, hubby is planning to book airfares, hotel accommodations and probably entrance tickets to the amusement parks!  .   

Hubby and I will be traveling to Tokyo this Dec with our 8 year old daughter.  I'm concerned with the cold weather there at that time of the year but my daughter thinks she can handle it.  In the past, she's able to enjoy cool weather of 7-9C with layers of clothes! 

Weather aside, we are planning to visit Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea..  so far, yun lang and a day of shopping.  Hope to hear from those who have been to Tokyo in December to suggest places to visit, to go for yummy Japanese food and to shop!

with proper clothing, you can still enjoy disneyland & disneysea during december. mas preferred ko than going there during summer. i am not sure if they still have the new year's eve event (24 Hours sila but passports are through raffle). until 6pm lang on dec. 31 (in prep for nye event) but they open early on jan. 1.

their winter vacation starts on mga dec. 28 naman, so if you'll go on a weekday before then, chances are medyo mas konti ang tao. but based on experience, kahit anong season, matao talaga (always on a weekday pa yun, ah). just plan ahead and avail of the fast pass.

as for shopping, fave ko rin ang end of the year. meron silang "fukubukuro" na tinatawag where they put a bunch of items in a bag tapos they'll sell at a very discounted price. downside is di mo alam kung ano-ano laman ni bag but so far, wala pa kong pinagsisihan sa mga binili ko

Joining! I wanna book our Tokyo trip as I want it to fall during the sakura season, thing is, there's no
cherry blossom forecast pa. When do they announce the forecast ba?

^sis minsan february pa forecast. kasi depende sa temperature ang sakura season. kapag malamig pa din it won't bloom. wala pa din naman forecast kung anung mangyayari this winter.

Re sakura: sinwerte kami this year. Initial forecast was mid-April. Trip namin was 3rd week until end-March. E yun lang available namin na mahaba-haba (sakto kasi holy week) so tinuloy na din namin. Two weeks before our trip nag-iba ng forecast kasi nagstart na umaraw/uminit, napaaga. So yun, sakto sa pag full bloom ng sakura nung nasa Tokyo kami.

You girls think its worth buying the Japan pass and go to Osaka and Kyoto too from Tokyo? I mean mas mura pa ata to wait for sa cebu pac sale to Osaka from Manila at 5k roundtrip than buy a pass. Pero since were in Japan already might as well go all out. We'll most likely be taking Delta to Tokyo.

vain_kixie, if you're coming from Tokyo then plan to travel to Osaka and Kyoto, worth it ang JR pass.

You can also check hyperdia site for fare estimate from point A to point B. Untick the Nozomi box to limit the search with JR lines lang (that is if you want to know if you can actually save up on JR pass). From the site, Tokyo to Osaka costs 8,510 Yen one way. Roughly around 3,700 pesos.

Last June, we bought the JR pass online for 11k pesos. We used the JR pass to travel from Narita airport to Hiroshima to Tokyo and tour around Yamanote Line. Pero on top of that, we had to pay extra whenever we cross the Metro Line kasi hindi ito kasama sa JR pass. When we went to Odaiba, Metro Line ito.

I suggest you plot the areas where you want to go. Then we'll try to help you check if you can actually save on JR pass.

^^^ sis, we took Delta last March. Maganda ang sched nya, if i recall correctly, dating sa Narita from Manila  ng 1pm then alis ng Narita to Manila at 6pm. We spent about 12 days pero around Tokyo/Tsukuba lang kami, with daytrips to Fuji/Hakone, Yokohama, Nikko and Disney. Ansaya. Bitin pa ang 12 days. Ansarap maglakad-lakad, kumain at tumambay, esp since umabot kami sakura season. We didn't buy JR Pass though, nag-Suica prepaid card lang kami. Para kahit saang line and pati buses pwede.

We plan to go back next year, pero sa Osaka/Nara/Kyoto/Kobe area naman. Agree with ^, ok ang hyperdia for route planning.

Sobrang convenient travelling around Japan without worrying about the train expenses......and you'd definitely go far!  We were able to go and experience (always looking forward to it) Kusatsu Onsen  (covers JR Pass, worth Y10k round trip).  Best time to go is at Spring at you get to do the outdoor Onsen while snow is falling.     Also a lot of shopping outlets that also covers JR Pass. 

If you can splurge on your trip, you can try the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route (http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e7550.html) ....


@bagaholic_chewy:  try mo Osaka/Nara/Kyoto/Kobe  during the Autumn season.  Sobrang red and yellow everywhere, especially sa Kyoto.    Relaxed din ang vibe kasi they season is longer than catching the sakura blooming.

^ sis, around what month yun? Gusto ko nga din ibang season naman. Super-saya ako sa trip namin last March, right smack sa pag full bloom ng sakura sa Tokyo. Aabang ako ng promo fare sa CebuPac for the Osaka, etc route. Laking tipid din pag nakabook sa budget airline, pang-foodtrip na yung natipid, hehe.

^sis month ng autumn ba question mo? it's usually october hanggang november. ito favorite season ko ang ganda ng mga puno. kapag kasi spring may pollen allergy ako hirap lumabas. hahaha

from hubby to book na. I just need to finish our Europe itinerary for October para I can focus on this one.
Japan nalang ang kulang sa Asian dream destinations ko and I'm happy about the airfare I'm looking at right now.

Hi Tokyo thread sisters! I have a trip this coming September 9-14 (should be 2 weeks but because of work 6 days na lang) I need a solid itinerary. Can somebody please share theirs please please =) Will start back reading now. I think we'll do a bit of both sightseeing shopping.

Day 1: Arrived at Tokyo Airport then straight away travelled to Hiroshima via JR Express

Day 2: Hiroshima Tour [We stayed at Sunrote Hotel]
– Mazda museum
– Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum
- Carp Castle
- Travelled from Hiroshima back to Tokyo

Day 3: Odaiba Tour [We stayed at City Hotel N U T S Japan 〒160-0022 Tokyo, Shinjuku]
- National Museum of Emerging Science to see Asimo
- Venus Fort (mall)
- Toyota Mega Web for the Toyota Vintage cars
- Gundam Front (mall ulit where Burberry Blue and Black labels are)

Day 4:
- Tsukiji Fish Market (woke up at 4am for this)
- Akihabara
- Museum of Yebisu Beer
- Shibuya for Hachiko and to take a photo of the world's busiest pedestrian crossing

Day 5:
- Tokyo Skytree where Sumida Aquarium is.
- Asahi Beer Tower
- Sensoji Temple
- Shinjuku

Day 6:
- Shopped around Tokyo Station then flight back.

b) Ginza - I wanna see the high end dept stores

c) Akihabara (I prefer to come here as early as after lunch, to be able to spend as much time as possible until the shops close..haha)


Sunday

a) Harajuku - Meiji Shrine, Takeshita Dori, Omotesando

b) Shibuya - Shibuya Crossing, Shibuya 109, Hachiko

c) Odaiba - lifesize Gundam

Shinjuku has high end department stores na like Ginza ex. Isetan, Marui, etc.

Saturday is okay. Akihabara pede na kahit hapon kasi parehas lang laman ng mga shops. Are you going there for the electronics stuff? or anime stuff?
You can omit Ginza if Dept stores lang gusto mo makita you can see that in Shinjuku and other places like shibuya. I think it's better if you do Asakusa, Akihabara, (omit Ginza), Shibuya.

Is riding the cruise in Asakusa to see the several bridges worth it? should it be dusk?

^sis about GU, for me its worth to go. we went to GU at Ginza Branch. their selection is different naman. but we enjoyed on Uniqlo's flagship store at Ginza.. Also Uniqlo'Ginza branch has different selection  from Uniqlo Shibuya branch.
