^^ nice, i just thought of watching this one a few hours ago, naintriga ako nung makita ko sa imdb.

Now You See Me -- 7.5/10 -- the effects were really nice and it wasn't boring. the twist was ok but not very original. it reminds me of a couple movies from the '90s. the titles escape me, though.

Watch Side Effects, sis. Now You See Me was more enjoyable for me, but I learned a whole lot from watching Side Effects. And it has more discussions and debates in IMDB.

Man of Steel is an EPIC Superman movie. Finally. The scale of this movie is just so grand that I don't know what else to expect in the sequels.

The movie is action-packed from start to finish. There are no dull moments like the scenes almost had no time to breathe. If you don't like too much CGIs, this movie is not for you. The alien plot makes the movie feel very sci-fi. It focused so much on the alien invasion thing. There's a lot of collateral damage, destruction, explosion, name it. It's true that it can get tiresome at some point for some people as the action scenes are lengthy and too many.

But still I give it to the film, it is a comic book, superhero movie so I forgive it to being action-packed non-stop. Just think of it as a tribute to Superman, he is the greatest superhero ever, so why not make the movie epic, and grand, and all that? He deserves it.

I love that the story is straight forward without the complexities that other superhero movies had. They explained clearly Kal-El's back story and his childhood as Clark very well. There were moments that moved me especially those scenes with Clark's father, Jonathan Kent. I felt young Clark's struggle with having those superpowers. We haven't seen that in any other Superman movie. I also loved how this Superman is so real and relatable, having to work for a living just like everyone else. Here is a Superman who grows a beard , works in ships and restaurants, and is a less glamorous Clark Kent than what we usually see.

The Hans Zimmer score is as expected, awesome. The music was stuck in my mind for hours.

Henry Cavill is the perfect Superman. He embodied the character whole-heartedly and definitely looked the part. His body is very drool-worthy, lol. Can't imagine another actor playing Superman now other than Henry.

Amy Adams was a great Lois except that she looks a bit old. Can't say much on her chemistry with Henry. The film didn't really focus much on the Lois-Clark relationship, so it almost felt rushed.

Michael Shannon did General Zod justice, but it is Antje Traue as Faora Ul I loved. She is just so bad-a$$ and beautiful.

Despite all the shortcomings which critics say, this felt like a complete Superman film to me. Of course we haven't seen much of Clark Kent yet as it still focused on his Krypton origins. I also appreciate how vividly they depicted Krypton.

This is the Superman movie I've been waiting for in years. I want to see it again. Watch it in 3D if you can.

Man of Steel

Dull and dragging. Nothing outstanding and even lacked substance. Failed to impress, and did not live up to my expectations. I was expecting a lot from this movie and mostly watched it because of Henry Cavill, but not even his rugged handsomeness and defined abs saved this film.

All I got for my money was the visually astonishing CGI (I can't deny that) and nothing more. I only remember seeing multiple fighting scenes that bored me to death. As for the acting, it was bland for most, and bad for some (Amy Adams, Russel Crowe, Superman's biological mother, to name a few). The prologue was pretty bad and anti climactic. The plot twists were preposterous and even unnecessary. There was no chemistry between Henry Cavill and Amy Adams (Clark Kent and Lois Lane). Although a few people laughed, I even cringed at the conversation between 2 officers (about Superman): “What are you smiling about?” asked the cop. “Nothing, sir. I just think he’s hot," said the female. Obviously a lame attempt to make the dark atmosphere light. I, that instance, could only shake my head and sigh. I wish the producers exerted more effort into creating a more interesting dialogue and human interaction than the action scenes. Action alone does not make a good film.

Christopher Reeve's version of Superman remains to be the best. There was no air of charm and mystery to Henry Cavill's Superman. I wouldn't watch this film a second time - free or not. For me, superhero films are simply over-hyped most of the time. So, am I the only person who didn't particularly like this movie? Maybe.

Rating: 6/10
Will I recommend this film? NO.

impressive special effects.. pero mas hot pa rin talaga si Brandon Routh ng Superman Returns.. And I agree, the new Louis Lane and Clark Kent, walang chemistry.. Pero kung hindi sana pinalitan ang soundtrack/theme mas maaappreciate ko itong movie na to, haha.. I believe factor din yun, iba kasi dating sakin nung nakasanayan kung soundtrack ng superman, yung tipong pag lilipad na tas yun ang music, nag go goosebumps ako.. lol..
