^We applied for my baby's passport when she was just 2 weeks old at Philippines Embassy in Korea. It was issued a month after.

I'm traveling with my daughter from Australia to Manila on Feb and she's turning 6 months then.

I'm planning on bringing her pram so I'd like to know which is a safer way to check it in
- sa check in counter sabay ng pag check in ng gamit namin?
- or while boarding the plane na? I see some kasi na dun nagfofold ng pram tapos bibigay lang sa ground staff to check in

also, mas madali ba irelease yung pram kapag chineck in sa check in counter or dun sa boarding gate? I hate waiting for luggages kasi! Primary concern ko of course is yung safe handling nya. Ayaw ko naman mabali bali or magasgasan yung pram nya...

so parang naiimagine ko ganito kami sa airport
dala dala ang diaper bag, her carry on luggage bag, her ergo baby carrier plus MY stuff  :o

tama ba?

My experiences - travelling with baby @ 3 months (Roundtrip Long Haul 12Hrs++), @ 4 & 5 months (RT Short Haul 3hrs++)

Tips:

1. Maghanda ng milk ni baby either BM or formula. If you are using BM, see if you can ask the FA kung pwede makilagay sa chiller nila, lalo pa pag wala kang bitbit na cooler. Useful din ito pag balak mong mag-express during the flight.

2. Make sure you have your pumping tools if you plan to pump during the flight. And beforehand, inform the FA na mageexpress ka para ma ipoint ka nila sa pinaka spacious na toilet sa eroplano, or at least inform the passengers if there is a queue forming outside the toilet dahil nageexpress ka. Bring your nursing cover na din just in case hindi ka maka-express sa toilet, and make sure you choose the window seat para di masyadong obvious kung kailanganin mo ngang mag express whilst in your seat.

3. Compress your diaper bag into a diaper kit (parang toiletry kit) containing super essentials lang and put that inside your carry on bag. As much as possible i limit mo yung carry on baggage mo dahil the last thing you want is keeping an eye on so many things including your baby. Once on board, you can just take out her "toiletry kit" and keep that by your side.

4. Before you fly, make sure you call the airline to assign you a bassinet seat and if possible request for a bassinet. With infants for example you have to pay 10% of the normal ticket fare. Dapat mong sulitin by asking for a bassinet seat/bassinet.

5. Take your pram hanggang sa boarding gate. Some pram models have their own carrying cases/bags, kung meron or wala ka nun, make sure to ask the handlers (I'm sure they will) tag it properly and give you a plastic bag to wrap your pram in. Que sa boarding gate or check in sya, kung hindi sila maingat, masisira at masisira talaga ang pram. I know for some airlines, at the boarding gate, they just give you the plastic para ikaw mismo ang magbalot ng pram. Hassle, lalo na kung mag-isa ka lang na magtrtravel. Patulong ka nalang.

6. Personally, di ko nagamit ang baby carrier ko dahil most of the time nasa pram sya or kung hindi man, nasa bassinet. Kung wala sya sa bassinet, karga karga ko sya sa lap ko and kailangan syang suotan ng seatbelt. If you can afford it, travel by business class kasi every time they put the seatbelt sign on, ipapatanggal nila si baby sa bassinet so kahit tulog sya, kailangan mong gisingin. Samantalang kung naka business class ka, pwede mo syang itabi sayo or i-recline ang seat para nakahiga sya the whole time (basta naka seatbelt sya).

7. Make sure that you give baby milk at reasonable time before/during descent. I gave mine milk nung nasa 20,000 ft kami para habang bumababa, swallow lang sya ng swallow para hindi sumakit ang ears nya. I must warn you though, na sometimes, kahit may milk pa, sasakit at sasakit talaga ang ears ni baby at iiyak sya. Just try your best to keep calm and soothe him nalang kung ganun. Wala talagang magagawa until you land.

mga sis, first time to travel with my baby by plane this coming Aug. She'll be 11 months by then. Do you buy your baby a seat on the plane or lap baby lang? It will be 20 hrs flight (Toronto-Manila via PAL) and I will be traveling alone. Ang ruling ng PAL sa bassinet is up to 6 months old baby lang...

^when we travelled with our baby at 10 months, we were charged 10% of the adult fare for her. No seat and no baggage allowance. This was on PAL too.

^ Yes pwede sis. They're not that strict naman esp when you have a baby. Kahit sa IO, mabilis lang, wala masyadong tanong.

Sis bylan, I think you may be allowed to buy your baby a seat but you will still have to carry the baby at take off/landing and whenever the seatbelt sign is on. That said, I don't know how stable your baby is na sitting by herself so having her own seat (unless you bring a carseat with you) will be useless. If you're traveling by economy, maybe you can request that the seat next to you be kept unoccupied (pag konti lang ang passengers, most airlines are ok to do this, and other passengers don't want to sit next to passengers with small kids din naman). If it's unoccupied, you can put up the arm rest and lay her flat sa lap mo/extra seat when she sleeps. I don't believe that PAL has the fully reclining business class seats yet so I can't really recommend sitting in biz class even if the budget permits. Baka mas makakahiga pa nang maayos si baby in economy.

Please don't forget to bring extra snacks or meals for your baby. Kasi I've been on several flights lately na walang kwenta at hindi pa enough ang food na binigay nila sa amin for my baby, buti nalang may dala kaming sariling food/snacks.

Yes, pwede. Just make sure lang it's properly sealed and will not leak. Kasi when I brought water along in my son's water bottle & milk bottles, nag leak lang from the spout/nipple even though it was sealed properly and it's supposedly a no-spill spout. Buti nalang I double bagged everything with ziploc, before I placed it in his "lunchbag", which was then placed sa handcarry - kungdi basa lahat ng handcarry ni baby.

That said, I wouldn't really bring too much, unless you're traveling via budget airlines where mineral water costs an arm and a leg. You can request for mineral/distilled water from the crew for drinking, and/or hot water to top up your bottle if you want to prepare formula.

Tama si priceless. Milk bottles leak during flight due to air pressure. Ang ginagawa ko niluluwagan ko yung rim ng bottle, semi closed lang siya and nilalagay ko rin sa ziploc.

thanks sis priceless..... i'll be bringing car seat if we buy seat para kay baby.... thinking kung ano experience ng ibang sis natin travelling with lap baby with 20hrs flight.....isa pang worry ko is i'll be installing the car seat rear facing (since she's too young for forward facing) di mai-recline nun nasa unahang passenger ang seat nya.....baka magreklamo, eh 20 hrs flight pa naman

^Ask for the front row/exit/bassinet seats then. Depending on how big your baby is, you may be able to request for a bassinet for her para naka recline sya talaga pag tulog at wala kayong kaharap na ibang seats. My boy is quite big for his age, kaya even at 8 months, di na kami pinag-bassinet ng PAL. In any case, even if you bring the car seat along, hindi naman fully reclinable yung seat ng PAL economy kaya siguro there will still be ample space for the passenger in front to recline.

^Sis if I remember correctly, our travel agent will give us the weight limit for PAL & other airlines. Sometimes if the baby is small or light for his age, they still allow the use of the bassinet even though thy are "above" the age limit. And I think mababa nga ang limit ng PAL.
