Been into soap-making as a hobby since 2009. I sold my soaps individually or packaged with the lotion (yes I do this too, using Shea or cocoa butter) through network of friends and colleagues and sales were brisk especially during Christmas season. But I eventually got tired of doing this. Kasi office pa ko during the day and at night busy naman ako kakagawa ng soap and lotion. I occasionally do this na lang para sa immediate family pag may time.

@cindylulu: wow! share naman pictures! What's your favorite recipe? I'm still experimenting, but my favorite is 100% olive oil. Madaling gawin, kaso nga lang matagal ang curing time.
Most of our sisses here in this thread have been wondering where they could get the supplies, where do you get yours?

^i'm doing it thru cold process. Actually I studied soap-making at a vocational center in qc. Beside the usual fragrant organic soaps (lavender, lemon, lime, vanilla, mint, oatmeal cocoa, etc), the popular variants my customers ordered were whitening soaps (either kojic or arbutin). got my supplies somewhere in del monte but I forgot the name of the factory. Other supplies, like milk and non-chlorine salt, I got from the grocery na. Tupperware lang mold Ko. 100 grams ang size (whether circular or bar). I love your cakes sis. Saw the pics. Interesado talaga ako gumawa ng whitening soap. Gustong gusto ko talaga pumuti ng bongga. Masyado bang komplikado paggawa ng whitenig soap? Help naman po! Tia

^yup it's complicated coz of so many ingredients and the measurements should be exact. plus you cannot use the soap outright as it has to be cured for at least a month or else mangangati ka. But when the the soaps are packaged na and sold, there's a feeling of fulfillment.

^e rod sis. nag close na ata. I suggest you enroll at tlrc or tesda. my instructor also teaches at tesda.

Sulit site is down on my pc as I write this reply, pero noong hindi. There were soap making classes with a fee for around 3k (interesting yung organic, natural soapmaking class..) tapos meron doon na FREE offered by a PUP Prof.

Sa soap scentral sis.o kaya daiso japan meron sila mga molds. For materials, soap scentral din.

I just started making soap a week ago. I use brambleberry calculater for my lye and water measurement with 5%lye discount.

I didnt attend seminar. Just read books. Check out soap crafting in amazon. Good book. Meron na rin mga recipe dun.

Recently I've been thinking about making my own soaps as well. I used to regularly buy really good organic soaps but the supplier stopped making most of the variants that I like. Feeling ko nahirapan siya sa marketing. Yung usual na lang yung binebenta niya like kojic, oatmeal, etc.

Pwede ba mag mix ng water at caustic soda sa plastic container? hindi ba matutunaw yung container?

Also, if i need 350ml lye solution (70% water 30% caustic soda), does that mean 245ml water at 105g of lye yun? mejo naguguluhan ako jan eh.. sana may magreply. thanks

^for your first question - yes. should be mixed in a plastic bowl.

For your second question - yes.

You can mix your lye solution in a plastic, glass or stainless steel container.
I usually use a plastic pitcher  (#5 PP (polypropylene) - you can see this number at the bottom of the plastic container).
